Stellantis is PURPOSELY holding back the 2025 Charger. What These Endless Delays Mean!

- A while back I had some interesting conversations with high-ranking people that worked for Stellantis in regard to why the new Charger Six Pack was delayed until the middle of 2025. The Charger Daytona EV was already supposed to have been released; however, it continues to be delayed. I shed some light into the real reason that the Six Pack car continues to be pushed off.

It’s so sad. I get many comments on my 2018 Charger scat pack. People admire these vehicles! It’s the old school muscle look.
If they really wanted to make a Dodge EV, they should have called it the Shadow or Stealth and sell it along side a next gen muscle with a normal V8. Not market it as a replacement to the V8.
Exactly. This was purely ideology based trying to move to some eco bs and everyone knows it’s a bad Idea.
The fact the website is ridiculously outdated shows Carlos doesn’t care about American customers.
Probably don’t have it out yet because the dealer lots are still jam packed with Hornets. 😂

GM and Ford were working steadily on replacements for their tried n true V8s while FCA (under Sergio Marchionne) diverted funds to Alfa Romeo (USA reboot x 2) and a lesser degree Maserati to make them global players (failures) so Chrysler (the first sacrificial lamb) got nothing and Dodge got the upgraded old HEMIs; these cars were promised updates (trickle down Maserati to Chrysler/Dodge) twice with no delivery. So, the whole thing was to prep for this unnecessary merger; the third of its kind in under 30 years and all for the cash flow that the domestics have a rep for producing! The new owners have failed in the past and will continue to fail because they are so damn egocentric and can't be told anything. They dont know our market, and they don't [care]. Trust me on this. Sad...
TBH I think partially the issue for me is the performance just isn't there. Like, don't get me wrong, I know there's more to cars than just pure speed, the Challengers and Chargers can't be beat for their muscle car look/feel. But the performance is seriously lacking. Even a Scatpack gets beat pretty easily by cars that shouldn't, due to traction issues etc, and its just a fucking pig of a car, so damn heavy.
So its in this weird place where the car doesn't have enough traction to get its power down, when there's enough power to counter the weight, but also the power doesn't go very far even when you take traction out of the equation because its just so damn heavy. It can launch well on the drag strip but teeters off quickly because once its initial burst is done, a similar power car that also gets its power down will eat it for breakfast.
I wish they could remove 500lbs from the cars, and somehow have more room for wider tires. Minimum of 275's on RT's, 305's on scatpacks, and 345's on hellcats. Big sticky ass tires as wide as the Viper's. Make sure the car can hook and do at least low 12's on the street for scatpacks, with mid 11's on the street on the stickiest street tire option being the goal for hellcats. At least then it could reliably compete with its competition.
But yeah, saying fuck weight and just going the electric route does get rid of some of the performance only issues at least in a straight line, but also kinda takes away the soul. its a nice looking vehicle that's missing its heart.
Whoever made these decisions at Stellantis needs to go! This company is a disaster for Dodge and Jeep.

They are never going to sell like the old chargers point blank
Dodge started losing money when they started listening to the WEF, investors and politicians, instead of the ACTUAL customers.
The most factual comment here. Want your V8's back. Vote America first!
Worked for them for 5 years as an electrician. Started in 2019 when it was still FCA, until this past July when I finally had enough of their BS and frankly got tired of working with lazy MFers. Oh yes it is true folks, don't kid yourself. Why do people not understand or remember why and how Stellantis was formed??? FCA didn't have any EV platforms developing when GM and Ford were entering that segment. When Marchionne died, there was a whole lotta concern about where the company was headed. They went to Renault to form a partnership and Renault laughed them out of the building. Peugeot come along and they saw the fat profits the vehicles were making and jumped at it. Problem was they bit off more than they can chew. This is what happens when you're late to the party on R and D. Autoworkers have no idea how pivotal this election is to their livelihood. The UAW has been told 3 years ago that EVs won't need as many workers to build them, and guess what??? It's already happening folks. I went to GM in September. The line I now run has ZERO production operators on it. Every single component of the body section my line builds is loaded by forktruck into dunnage ULs (unloads) then a robot picks from there and the process continues. I even have automated forktrucks that load certain ULs, so more jobs gone. Anyone paying attention to the Fairfax layoffs??? They're doing that because the plant is being retooled for an EV. Apparently over 200 workers will be permanently laid off once it starts back up. While Tavares does deserve a lot of blame, FCA prior to joining with Peugeot also deserves a healthy amount of the blame.
Very interesting information 🤔. Thank you for your insight 👍.
Marchionne chose not to invest in EVs because how many times do you need to reinvent the wheel? He's the guy who placed enthusiasts like Tim Kuniskis, Ralph Gilles, and others in charge of product development. Those people brought us the products that revived interest in Mopars. The loss of Marchionne was devastating.
The plan was always to find a partner that already had the expertise in building EVs. They found one in Peugeot, and Stellantis was created. A partnership with Renault wasn't viable because it's basically owned by the French government, and it would have operated as a French company.
As it turns out, Peugeot ended up dominating the company, and wouldn't you know it, it's running it like a French company. They don't have a clue about the American market, and so the American side is being hammered.
No, FCA isn't responsible. It revived Dodge, and made Ram and Jeep way better. The management that took over created this mess with poor planning that called for huge investment over a short period, and they banked on making obscene profits on existing products to pay for it. They miscalculated because they're stupid.
I know some shit because I was an executive there and saw how things were done. There were only a few who cared about cars and trucks, and most were penny pinchers and chart watchers. I left before the merger with Fiat so I missed the fun. The people that stayed did a great job.
@@cabforwardooo9983 FCA ruined Dodge by putting Tim Kuniskis in charge, and he turned Dodge into the Hellcat company and down a sales death spiral. Taking Dodge into 2024 with no replacement for the ancient Charger & Challenger anywhere close to being ready for market while shoveling money at Tesla by the billions was a historic chef's kiss of incompetence.
@@cabforwardooo9983 reinvent the wheel??? EVs were coming, but FCA said nope, we're gonna keep on the store bought race cars path, and just look at em now!!!! I will celebrate the day JNAP closes it's doors.
Yeah, reinvent the wheel. Why develop your own EV when others are doing the same thing and have more money and a head start. Marchionne was looking for a partner.
Why are you even watching the RacerX videos if you don’t appreciate what Dodge created? And hoping that JNAP closes? So that good people lose their jobs? Sounds like you got fired from there.
Carlos is one of the dumbest CEOs anyone has ever seen. He has no clue of what he is doing and has absolutely destroyed a great company.
I'm a Mopar master tech and I wouldn't purchase a single new vehicle from stellantis. Quality control is poor price is way to high and any support for any line is minimal. When I first started it wasn't near as bad. This is way worse than the early diamler days. I wish I could actually speak with some stellantis insiders who actually can make some changes. Other than the ev platforms.
What about a 2023 r/t or scat pack im thinking of getting one. If I can stay under 45k
@@thecrow4597 haven't seen to much with the L body cars with poor quality. You gotta figure they are all the same since like 2011. Electrical architecture and drive line with subtle changes and facelifts. About the most solid bet of the lineup.
They should have put a Hemi in some, a Hurricane in some, and made some as a slow base model EV. Then most people would have been happy.
They aren't purposely holding these cars back....the cars simply don't work.
That’s why they are holding them back! Production issues with the lithium batteries 🔋
Purchased a 2024 5.0 V8 because it a 5.0 V8 engine. I don't care if an EV can go to the moon in 2 seconds.. not interested. EV's values drop like mad quickly. I do not have to worry about my 5.0 Mustang burning my house down or driving my electric bill up 300%.

Carlos Travaris has to be FIRED!!!

They're calling it the first call, it's more like the last gasp. RIP Mopar. Stellantis will not exist this time next year.
Wouldn't that be insane? I refuse to believe it was anything but intentional too. There won't even be anything left to sell off. The incompetence is amazing.
True
Pricing for what we'll get is comparable in the market. Let's not Boogeyman scare people into not buying it. Those that can afford and like it will and those that don't and can't afford it won't. It's beautiful transition into EV for Dodge. Purist can stay in the past and all other Dodge enthusiast can happily move forward. It really is that simple.
So clever, remove a model that sells for one entire year and then introduce an electric turd. Makes perfect sense.
I suspected all along that they were holding back the new car so they could try and clear inventory of the existing car. There are 2023s on the lots!
Rumor is it's actually software glitches. The cars are so buggy, they can't even get them to start.
Thanks for the update and keeping us posted RacerX.
I actually really like and want the ev version but it’s way beyond the price tag I’d pay so I’m priced out until someone buys it and sells it lol

I remember hearing, that these car manufacturers are very limited to what they should produce in terms of EV's are dictated by the government.
They should have started with the ICE motors... But really they should have made a new V8 or v8 hybrid
Great detailed info. Keep em coming
I'm a long-time V8 loving car enthusiast. Every vehicle I've owned (and still own) has had an aftermarket exhaust. But to think that over 8 BILLION people aren't pushing the planet to the brink of its abilities to 'absorb' our abuses, is either ignorance or being delusional. Will electric vehicles fix everything, no. But it's a step in the right direction - and yes, it pains me to acknowledge this fact, but it's the truth. Electricity can be made from renewables. Oil is just oil and it's far from clean. As for vehicles, tires are another ugly subject no one wants to talk about - the disposal and the toxic compounds used to make them. So bottom line here - their are some politicians trying to move us in the right direction and others ones who tell us it's a big conspiracy to take away our 'fun cards'.

I’ve seen several of them here in Michigan specifically Taylor Michigan I multiple cars on different days always in the same area of town. They always have manufacturers plates.
Dealers can’t sell EVs unless they can also service them. I think part of the reason for delays is Stellantis dealers have to buy the special equipment and train their mechanics how to service EVs. That is a high cost to dealers and many aren’t making money now. They can’t afford the transition costs.
Stellantis is probably too ashamed to release it. Because they know it'll fail.

If they had kept the Hemi as an option for a few more years, introduced the hurricane engine (which appears to be good), with some EV, plug in hybrid option they could have kept some of the old base around, but this cold turkey stop stuff was a disaster, I hope they do not go under so I have to worry about the warranty on my Jeep since I sold my Scat Pack.

Just saw some news on MotorTrend and others saying they'll come with solid state batteries in 2026 or 2027. Sounds like a good reason to push them back some more.

Jeep is the one brand of Stellantis that any company would really be interested in.
I saw a Daytona on my local freeway yesterday. It was in the far right lane going exactly the speed limit, I assume it was in testing as it was fully occupied. It was silver, had black badging with a bold DAYTONA on the dumper. It didn't make a sound, so I assume it was an ev and not an i6. Also the ev "gas pedal" is called the accelerator in the industry I'm primarily exposed to.
They make Shaker hoods for a reason.
They need to make it sound like the Jetson's flying car. 😊
Reminds me of learning about what dodge did in the fuel crisis of the 70s n 80s or so. Cars that shouldn't have the name that nobody much wanted because they couldn't adapt. Maybe 20 years from now there'll be another Renaissance like they had in the days of the viper and challenger/charger revival
Stellantis needs to sell out to an American co. They need to forget about the ev. Go back to the Hemi and watch sales soar
Love the 70 torino 😅
The car doesn't look bad at all but the price that's what consumer are concerned about 😮we will see what happens in 2025
An EV “muscle car” was never going to work. Every American knows this. Europeans have no clue! Stellantis needs 2 separate CEOs. One for America and one for everyone else who loves crappy cars.
Although I will never purchase an EV vehicle, I do like the status updates and hope that Stellantis goes bankrupt and the U.S. government take the Mopar brands away and sells them back to Americans willing to save them restore profitability!!! The federal government needs to create a law that would prevent American companies from use from being purchased by foreign entities!!!!
Does Stellantis think people are gonna be so impatient for this car that they'll go for the first version that comes available for sale which in this case will be the ev version?
I see them all day in Michigan!
Gotta be honest personally have not said anything about when are the EVs hitting the market. Kinda don't care. Now new muscle let me know that.
I seen that Ford Torino Cobra you slipped in there.
Stellantis is a disaster!
Just ordered a hat! looking forward to getting it!
What's keeping me away from even wanting one no matter what engine (V8, I6, or EV) they put in it is the fact that these new Chargers are heavier, wider, and longer than the outgoing model. Even if the base model ICE I6 version was 38k I wouldn't want one simply because of the size, they went from land Yachts to land cruise ships.
I sincerely hope Stellantis goes out of business, and that the executives that make these stupid decisions end up working at a McDonalds as fry cooks.
Oh wow, Scotty just dropped a new video concerning mass layoffs: ok yeah, 2023 will be the last model year for this brand
Look, I’m a life long dodge fan who currently drives a modded Nissan gtr. A v6 muscle car isn’t something anyone wants. And I drive a turbo 6cyl
An ev is even worse. Nobody is waiting for it.
For once Stellantis is using common sense and not launching that EV brick in the middle of winter. They might as well hold off and do a spring launch 😮
Actually I think you’re overestimating the interest (out there) in anything Stilantis is releasing.Unless they’re working on a batch of V8 Chargers. And I think everyone knows (by now) they’re way to Euro-wienie -woke to even consider that.
There are a significant number of people interested in the six pack car.. it’s going to be really quick! Hopefully it won’t be crazy money
With Stellantis poor build quality, I would never take any new product, especially an engine from them. Wait 3-4 years for all the issues to come out
I live in Windsor Ontario very close to the plant that is building the charger let me tell you the lot is jam-packed to the gills with cars waiting to go to dealerships completed I take it they are all six packs
If you want a EV that's fine by me,but the only thing I ask for is OPTIONS!! I'm a car guy at heart and LOVE my V8's! If you want a EV,whatever good for you but don't push that shit down my throat and "force" it on me because that's where it becomes intrusive to enthusiasts who actually enjoy their cars and don't look at them as just a "mode of transportation"!
This is an exciting race tonsee which jappens forst, Stellantis declaring bankruptcy or the EV Charger being released.
Thank Carlos Tavares for flushing the Stellantis toilet.
