I hope elden ring is more like demon souls. More realistic and immersive. Bosses should have weaknesses and weak points, more characters world building and environmental detail etc...
Yeah instead it ended up being a Nioh clone with bullshit difficulty, reskinned fights and 1shot wonders. Elden Ring spits in the face of everything Demon's Souls ever stood for.

Yeah, when Miyazaki said that he doesn't play these games himself, you can kind of tell why that is the case. They're made to appeal to all the autists who praise the games for being "difficult".
It's a G R E A T game; however, unfortunately, it still relies too much on mythological settings.
12:05 This entire scene, especially with the dramatic orchestral music, still gives me chills 11 years later. Easily the best story moment in the entire game.

As someone who didn't have a Ps3, I really want to experience demon souls. But, I'd like to know how much has been changed

Dark souls remaster had some lighting changes that did affect the atmosphere.

@@xcharlesbronsonx in the demons souls remake they changed the atmosphere, tone, ost, and designs but the gameplay and level design is still largely the same. as someone who has played the og dark souls and the remaster, the original definitely looks better. watch crowbcats video titled "Dark Souls vs Remastered full comparison" and decide for yourself
I think the part that's been hardest for me when trying to get into this game is that any items you use don't get replenished upon death so after dying like, 5 times in a row I had almost no healing stuff. I mean the combat feels great though, I just wish I weren't so terrible lmao
There are a lot of Archstones in the game that you can spawn at and then kill nearby enemies who will drop healing grasses. Like the Tower Knight Archstone, I know if you spawn there and then kill the two blue eye knights, they should drop some half moon grass when they die
I know this comment is old but if you haven't tried yet, I promise you this game throws healing items at you. By end game on my first blind playthrough, I had almost 99x of each healing item because you get so many souls, that buying them goes from 1-5 at a time to stacks of 50 without even thinking about it. Demon Souls is by far the easiest game in the series in regards to healing and I recommend trying again!
The best game in the series
So far, of the Soulsborne games, I've beaten Bloodborne, I've gotten pretty far into Demon's Souls on PS5 (like soul level 60 something), and I've played a little bit of Dark Souls 1 and 3.
I can see how Demon's Souls is one of the less difficult entries out of Fromsoftware's titles, although while the quantity of each of the grass types you can carry in the remake *is* reduced quite a bit (like 25 instead of 99), you can still carry a lot of them overall. I've definitely been enjoying my time with Demon's Souls though...mostly lol. The Maneater fight was absolutely brutal, and I only ended up beating it because I summoned my friend into my world to help me.

15:36 cmon man those duel wield swords were easily my favorite weapon in ds3 it’s not too out there, especially with everything else going on in the game that does not make it feel that realistic. And demon souls had that issue too. magic isn’t really tangible and makes you melt every boss like it’s nothing, and there were a good amount of weapons that weren’t realistic. Extreme weapons like the ring knight paired great swords have been a staple of the soulsborne games, its just that demon souls had the least amount of them. The moonlight sword has never been realistic and is in every game. That dragon bone smasher you love so much is not that realistic either, and even less so when you put magic and buffs on it which you can do. So using two great swords with fire isn’t okay but using a massive slab of stone on a handle that is covered in magic because you can do that is okay? Where is the line drawn because I’m not getting it. Magic is fine and not anime at all but weapons having an element to them is? Even when demon souls has that issue since you can also put fire on your weapons. I will admit that the newer games did more with those and put more and more weapons like that in the game but that’s a series evolving the bosses have also changed since demon souls. And dark souls 1 did have that “issue” of “too anime” weapons, and also had completely broken gear like the zewihander making bosses like the Capra Demon a complete joke and no longer have you that feeling of tackling an insurmountable enemy. But yeah that’s just my take on that part I disagree with it but hey maybe I am wrong and was just in the wrong mindset I am open to see if I am indeed not correct in my statement.

I agree with you on Demon's Souls going having more interesting lore and environments. I've beaten Dark Souls 3 and never really took an interest in much beyond the gameplay. Demon's Souls was interesting to the point that I had so much about the environments and npc memorized by the end of my first play through. I think it's because Boleteria feels like a real place more than it does a construct assembled for you to experience gameplay in.

Of course it is, it's Japan Studio, genius. Just use the PS3 emulator, it runs at 60fps perfectly. Demon's Souls is the best in the series.

And well, demons souls was made for the ps5 in specific, to make a better use of the system hardware capabilities, so if they tried to make it for both it would be a worse playing and looking game. It’s exclusive bc it allows them more creative freedom than being held back by an older consoles worse hardware

The weight thing I can get behind. The addition of the Giants archstone DEFINITELY! And for the propose of evolution in chr creation, let us add muscle definition and mass to our chrs, new hairstyles and also, for voice chat, let it be possible IN GAME as it was not in it, in the first place. Being a remake, we can now forego what was bound, in our bid to add anew!
Too bad the the remake doesn't seem to respect the artistic vision of the original at all and the worst thing is that the new team doesn't seem to even understand the original.
They have Boletaria look like it wa abandoned ages ago when in the original it was not even a month prior to the beginning of the game, or something like that.
I hope they at least respect the narrative elements but I have almost no hope at this point.

To me, Demon's had the best sound design, particularly in regards to ambient sounds. A lot of levels in later Souls games just sound dead in comparison.
It also had the best endings. There were only two of them, but they made perfect sense and weren't lazy as fuck like Elden Ring's "endings".

I'm more a Bloodborne fan. I watched Vaatya's Vids after I beat the game the first time though. I was more swept into Bloodborne's artistic design over Demon's/Dark Soul's version.
I still haven't finished Dark Souls 3, it got boring for me. I liked the art style but the combat had gotten too try-hard. You see, in Demon's Souls combat is not that difficult once you understand that you need to look for patterns and use your head to figure out a good strategy for bosses and enemies alike. DkS 3 requires twitch reflexes, the developer wants you to have a difficult time for the sake of being difficult (bragging rights or a rite of passage for the players, I suppose). They try their best to trick you with similar looking attacks, with animations that delay mid attack to mess up your timing and so forth.
Demon's Souls wants you to use your head, it's difficult somewhat because otherwise you wouldn't have to think about what you are doing but it's not an end in itself. This Dark Souls is so difficult and that's the cool thing about it was a media induced hype to a large extent and the developers latched on to that. It all went majorly in that direction with the release of the Dark Souls Artorias DLC.
I am taking a break from ds3 because of the dancer, I smashed my tv remote with my controller because I was one hit away and I died.
@@amazingdog370 I stopped after the catacombs. I wasn't angry at the time, just had lost my interest. Defeating bosses and enemies didn't feel exciting, all had become feeling like a chore.
Yup, pretty much sums it up. I still haven't played Sekiro because the combat has been centered around parrying, and I've heard people compare it to a rhythm game. No thanks.
Dark Souls 3 is not that difficult and it's necessary to up the challenge along with the new releases otherwise people get bored. But yes, difficulty was never what these games were about, it's the challenge that people liked.
@@golDroger88 It's very difficult to find a needle in a haystack but it's not interesting, it's intellectually not challenging. The Souls series could have moved into a different direction. Like having a less linear design between the bonfires with dead ends, traps. Not automatically using the right key for a door to unlock it but you have to choose the right key - Things where you actually have to think for a second. Instead they streamlined that part out of existence. How about having multiple paths you can take but most of them will be a dead ends for now and you should have actually listened to a NPC who tells you so. Like putting things in that make you care about stuff, care about listening to a NPC, care about reading the environment for clues, because otherwise you are f-ed.
Dark souls pvp is the reason I even play the game. Most skill based game I've ever experienced especially at the highest level.

The remake sucked, too much focus was put on the graphics over the original artstyle and character design like the fat official and Vanguard that were ruined. Plus the music in the original is timeless and memorable where as the remake music is generic garbage the fails to capture the magic of the original.

Apparently, PS5 games may be more money for standard editions too. Not paying $69.99, don't pay $59.99 for digital only either.
Yeah, I'm with you on that. The price of games going up has been long due because of inflation, people have talked about it before but for prices to be the same from 2006-2020 is a pretty long time. That being said, games will still gouge you with shitty dlc, lootboxes, etc. so I imagine a lot of people will be pissed off, myself included.
