Followed your steps to remove screws, didn’t even need to take the key panel off since I just twisted the buzz unit off with hatred. Took less than 5 min and found peace. Thank you
This beep is particularly and dramatically annoying like a character in a cartoon. We checked our manual, and there is no instructions to lower or turn off the beep. THIS VIDEO provides a great plan b. Bravo.

I happened upon this video while searching for how to take apart a frigidaire microwave. It just so happens it's exactly the same model I have. I succeeded in prying off the panel by sticking a hammer's prying end into the metal at one side of the panel and prying with that leverage. It mangled the metal slightly but it's easy to bend back into place. I followed your instructions exactly and it worked! I've lived with this microwave for a year and 2.5 months and now the buzzer of doom and eviltude has been vanquished! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATION! You are a gentleman and a scholar.
FYI to everyone... the procedure is identical for the Frigidaire Model # FFMV164LSA. It is possible to cut the two wires close to the actual Beeper leaving the connection points available.. This allows soldering a new beeper back on if, god forbid, anyone ever wants to hear the obnoxious beeping again:). Also, as another comment mentioned, it might be enough to mute the beeper using tape or some other similar sticky backed material.Oh and yeah... thanks much to l10ydchristmas for this invaluable video! Love it!

thank you SO much for the video. It gave me the confidence to proceed. for those thinking about doing it: You need a special screwdriver, or drill bit, that I didn't have. So I just purchased a 1/4" Tamper-Proof Driver Socket (TT20)(hollow star) for just $4.95 at Lowes. Used the plastic thing attached to the Driver Socket with which it hangs on the retail rack, as a screwdriver handle. So you don't need a drill or even a ratchet. You may need a Phillips' head screwdriver for the other screws. The drum-looking speaker thing on my microwave was right on the back of the panel, so I didn't even need to remove that. Just the microwave cover. The culprit was covered in black plastic on one side, but when I bent it up, I saw the speaker. I wiggled it back and forth, and it just popped out. It was a snap-in piece, so no wire cutter's needed either. I couldn't believe how easy it was, and it took just 10 minutes! And I think of all the years of suffering! Finally I can sleep through an early morning riser's microwave shenanigans. And I no longer have to race, sometimes tripping over things, to get to the damn thing before it shrieks because someone is sleeping. Just spend the 5 bucks and get it done. This video will guide you.
To shut off the loud repeating beeping noise of microwave oven ( Kitchen-Aid) , keep pressing the "2" button for 5 seconds (until you see GOOD displayed on the screen) . Worked for me !

THANK YOU! It literally took me 15 minutes to perform this beep-ectomy. No more running to grab the door before the last second! No 'USER PREFERENCE' key on mine. Nothing in the manual about disabling the horrible GOOD beeping. I used a small screwdriver inserted in a slot on the top and gently tapped with a hammer to get the top panel off. My microwave is new, 2018, so Fridgedaire must have an infinite supply of these things.

I wound up de-soldiering mine from the control board, in case I ever want to put it back in later. Had originally been thinking to wrap some electrical tape around it a few times to see if quieter might be tolerable. If the wife doesn't like the complete silence of it with no beep at all then might try that. We'll wait and see if she notices it at all... Thanks again!

One of very few violent outbursts in my life was punching this microwave due to the insane long beeping, lol... I just looked up this video because I had to replace that board inside; wanted to make sure I got the black/white cable re-connected correctly. Thanks for this! I will also be removing the beeper to ensure this does not happen again. I think the price of the replacement board has taught me a good life lesson =]
I didn't want to silence the buzzer completely so I added self-adhesive rubber pads to the back and front of the buzzer. Now it's barely audible and much more acceptable.
Thank you for this video! I can't beleive they would make a beeper sound so annoying, and it doesn't stop even when you open the door. I couldn't remove the top panel but I lifted it enough to access the front panel screw. This all took about 10 minutes.

Well Snap! Got to the point of snipping off the beeper AND wifee said please stop… She uses the timer ALOT along with the oven’s timer too since she does cook alot. Per her request and her awesome cooking, I halted the irreversible ops. 😅. Erghhh! You made an awesome video though! 🎉
I live in a "luxury" apartment complex that has this same model. The beeping is so loud and long that I swear almost every time it goes off. I popped open the panel a minute ago, and the buzzer was freaking glued down to the board. Shame!
Let me join in the thanks to Mr. Christmas. Killing that beep - clearly an act perpetrated upon hapless consumers by a Grinch Engineer at Frigidaire - was such a blessing. It took me all of 15 minutes. BTW, I do NOT have the same model - mine is a LMFV164QFA - but the process was identical. Like some others, I had trouble removing the bezel at first, until I noticed that the vertical top screw holes had ragged metal edges restraining the bezel removal. I did not use a claw hammer - instead, I slipped a putty knife gently in the slot underneath the screw hole and the bezel slid right out. I hope Frigidaire reads this posting. What could they possibly be thinking to install a device that sounds like a smoke alarm???
I did this in 5 minutes! You are a life saver! I have been listening to this incredibly annoying buzzer for 6 months and was about to loose my mind. I' m surprised though that Fridgidaire dose not have a way to disengage the buzzer without completely removing it and then smashing it to bits afterwards because you're so mad at it...hahah One helpful note to those attempting this...a simple hand held screwdriver does the trick. Also, my beeper was glued into the pannel as well so I had to really heave on it to get it out. It brought me great satisfaction though. Putting on vaseline afterwards was a great idea as you really have to shake the micro to loosen the panel out. However, I hopefully don't ever have to do it again thanks to you. I think it is a safety thing otherwise they would make it easier to stop it from buzzing. Thanks again Mr. handy man!

I am a renter, so I followed your instructions up to the removal of the speaker, but instead of yanking it, I connected (shorted) the speaker leads with a thin strand of copper, twistie-tie style, so it can be easily undone before I move out. So relieved; that thing was the worst. What was Frigidaire thinking?!

Completely forgot about this, but, I simply took a single strand of copper from a stripped wire and tied it to exposed parts of both the two little wires going into the speaker. Those little speakers are super low voltage, so I wouldn't worry about fire. Also note, current will only be running through when it's trying to beep. Good luck! I remember it being kind of a PitA, super worth it, though.

I was about a min away from getting the 20 gauge shotgun and blowing ours out of the kitchen. To me the constant beep would have been a deal breaker had I known about it before I bought it. 1 or 2 beeps is fine but a constant beep till the door opens is a real pain.
Frigidaire FFMV162LW microwave remove beeper. All I needed was phillips head screwdriver with a long neck, Hard Metal Drywall Scrapper, I would have preferred a hard nylon or plastic scrapper, the type you use for removing car windshields. I removed two Phillips screws on the top front panel. I was NOT strong enough to pull the top front panel straight out so I never did. I used the wide metal scraper to pry the panel above key pad slightly out 1/2 inch. I was able to see the key pad screw up underneith the panel and un-screwed that. I never put that screw back. I lifted the panel out and broke the speaker on the circuit board, and wire cut the extra wires. Put it all back together. Of course I un-plugged the microwave first! IT Worked - NO NOISE!

Thank you for posting this video. We have a identical microwave. In that control panel that you remove in your video when you installed it, did you have to remove or peel a front cover from it? Ours seems to be getting a little scratchy already, i do not know if i should try to remove that cover or peel because i could damage it.Also i do not have a replacement front as other microwaves bring. No problem. Thanks for the comment. I don't recall a protective film or cover being on the front panel. If there is one, you should be able to see an edge that can be peeled from the keyboard. However, I would be careful about picking at any potential cover too much as it could do more harm than good.
Thanks.....DONE. Now I don't have to take a baseball bat to this thing. One small tip : use a flat head screw driver on the top panel to pop it out, after removing phillips screws.
This is a very useful video! And very well done. Only problem is that you might want some audible feedback when pressing buttons on the control panel, and this would completely mute the microwave, wouldn't it? (Also what's with the strange "Good" message? Why not just "Ready"?)

Love this and removed the sound piece from my daughter's microwave to help them out. Unfortunately, the piece broke while removing it and now they want the sounds restored. What part or board do you have to purchase to return it to its original state?

Instead of removing the speaker (which is soldered in place), I pried the speaker's exposed small metal sound disk out of the black plastic enclosure using a flat screwdriver against one of the two flat wires that hold it in place. The disk is fixed in place with a white paste along the edges, and once off can be put back in place if desired. The outcome is that the decibels of the beep have been cut to approximately 20% of what they were before by effectively sabotaging the acoustic design. It's now much less annoying, and the process can be reversed by a determined masochist if they take up residence in my rental house one day.
Hello Daniel - you'd have to cut the connection to stop the beeper from working. You may be able to solder it back on later if you wanted to connect it again.
When you cut the alarm thing out, we’re u left w two metal posts that you left on the board when u reinstalled? Mine would not completely remove from the board. So I just cut them

I thought about stuffing cotton in that Piezo, but then maybe a fire hazard. Thanks. I'll end 4 years of torture. I have to convince my wife we can live without the built in timer. Also, have you noticed the clock runs fast? It was brand new when we bought our condo.
I use the timer all the time when cooking so completely removing the buzzer is a bad idea. The user preferences will turn off all sound even the timer. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Going to get a separate timer and turn that horrible thing off.
Eric, User Preferences is not an available option with this model. I agree that the process shown in the video removes all sound but for some that is the better alternative to incessant beeping. I use my oven when a timer is needed. Thanks for the comment.
Has anyone tried to just cover the speaker with scotch tape or something to muffle it, but not get rid of it entirely? I'm nervous that I'll want the beep back when I go to sell the house lol.

Why couldn't you just have modifed the programming of the unit instead of permanently removing the speaker? The board should be programmable. 1 beep would be fine

Completely forgot about this, but, I simply took a single strand of copper from a stripped wire and tied it to exposed parts of both the two little wires going into the speaker. Those little speakers are super low voltage, so I wouldn't worry about fire. Also note, current will only be running through when it's trying to beep. Good luck! I remember it being kind of a PitA, super worth it, though.
@@c.rayhimes5927 The speaker was soldered on, so I couldn’t take it off. I used a piece of wire to trip the speaker successfully! Woohoo! I didn’t have copper but steal worked.
Wow, it's the small things in life like this awesome video, that prevent me from destroying everything in my path. Every time I hear that stupid alarm, a small but growing rage builds up inside, and it makes me want to rip out that microwave and launch it out the window. I was about a min away from getting the 20 gauge shotgun and blowing ours out of the kitchen. To me the constant beep would have been a deal breaker had I known about it before I bought it. 1 or 2 beeps is fine but a constant beep till the door opens is a real pain.

Frigidaire FFMV162LW microwave remove beeper. All I needed was phillips head screwdriver with a long neck, Hard Metal Drywall Scrapper, I would have preferred a hard nylon or plastic scrapper, the type you use for removing car windshields. I removed two Phillips screws on the top front panel. I was NOT strong enough to pull the top front panel straight out so I never did. I used the wide metal scraper to pry the panel above key pad slightly out 1/2 inch. I was able to see the key pad screw up underneith the panel and un-screwed that. I never put that screw back. I lifted the panel out and broke the speaker on the circuit board, and wire cut the extra wires. Put it all back together. Of course I un-plugged the microwave first! IT Worked - NO NOISE!

Thank you for posting this video. We have a identical microwave. In that control panel that you remove in your video when you installed it, did you have to remove or peel a front cover from it? Ours seems to be getting a little scratchy already, i do not know if i should try to remove that cover or peel because i could damage it.Also i do not have a replacement front as other microwaves bring. Thank you
No problem. Thanks for the comment. I don't recall a protective film or cover being on the front panel. If there is one, you should be able to see an edge that can be peeled from the keyboard. However, I would be careful about picking at any potential cover too much as it could do more harm than good.

This is a very useful video! And very well done. Only problem is that you might want some audible feedback when pressing buttons on the control panel, and this would completely mute the microwave, wouldn't it? (Also what's with the strange "Good" message? Why not just "Ready"?)

Instead of removing the speaker (which is soldered in place), I pried the speaker's exposed small metal sound disk out of the black plastic enclosure using a flat screwdriver against one of the two flat wires that hold it in place. The disk is fixed in place with a white paste along the edges, and once off can be put back in place if desired. The outcome is that the decibels of the beep have been cut to approximately 20% of what they were before by effectively sabotaging the acoustic design. It's now much less annoying, and the process can be reversed by a determined masochist if they take up residence in my rental house one day.

Hello Daniel - you'd have to cut the connection to stop the beeper from working. You may be able to solder it back on later if you wanted to connect it again.

When you cut the alarm thing out, we’re u left w two metal posts that you left on the board when u reinstalled? Mine would not completely remove from the board. So I just cut them

Max, no problem. I looked everywhere, prior to removing the buzzer, and could find no other way to stop the beeping on this model.

I use the timer all the time when cooking so completely removing the buzzer is a bad idea. The user preferences will turn off all sound even the timer. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Going to get a separate timer and turn that horrible thing off.
Eric, User Preferences is not an available option with this model. I agree that the process shown in the video removes all sound but for some that is the better alternative to incessant beeping. I use my oven when a timer is needed. Thanks for the comment.
Look in the settings menu before trying this. My Frigidaire gallery fgmv174 has an option to simply turn the beeps off

Why couldn't you just have modifed the programming of the unit instead of permanently removing the speaker? The board should be programmable. 1 beep would be fine
Hello Gary. As mentioned in previous comments, Frigidaire does not offer that option with this unit. I called and confirmed with tech support but feel free to do your own due diligence.
Most Frigidaires have a USER PREF button which allows you turn off the beeper. I did mine in ten seconds, no tools needed. But it is a FGMV175QFA.
