Jethro Tull’s music has been a valued part of my life since 1969 and always will be but enjoying live concerts really came to an end for me when Ian and Martin parted company. As others have said Ian’s voice is now just too difficult to listen to but nothing lasts forever. A huge thank you to all of the many members of Tull who have created some of the best music of the last 50+ years, have a great 2025, be happy and stay healthy.

@terryosborn Totally agree with all you said. Watching the energetic Anderson prancing around the stage with hair flowing, standing on one leg etc, while Martin Barr belted out the guitar licks. I went to many gigs, but one that lives in my memory was the first time they played 'Thick as a Brick' live, they got a mixed reaction, but I loved it. Sadly, Ian is now playing gigs because it's in his blood and does not want to hang up his Flute, surrounding himself with good musicians, but he is, like me, an old man now. Having said that I still enjoyed the festive gig, but iJethro Tull it ain't sadly. Happy New Year to you mate.

Tull’s Christmas shows are great, I saw them at Coventry Cathedral two years ago. Gotta love the reverend George Pitcher though, what a showman !! 😊

One of my all time favourite bands. Did they do anything from Heavy Horses?

@ba-gg6jo hi, yes they did Weathercock , it was a wonderful version of it as well, echoing through the Cathedral

Ian's voice is gone! They seem to have picked up a second guitarist and a violin player/ vocalist.

Can't believe how Anderson is still allowed on stage! Should be in hospital with an oxygen tank, what a dreadful experience.

Lol, he is knocking on a bit, and his voice was weak. My phone was only allowed out for the encore, so your unable to appreciate a really great show. Wonderful night of festive entertainment.

@@fatboysontourtestingchannel I was in the concert in São Paulo in april this year. It was a great experience, despite the weakness of his voice, because it's about good music! The modern arrangements of Aqualung, for exemple, are a a masterpiece.

The concert was a fundraising for the Cathedral Choral Society. Not many people had a view of the stage or saw Ian Anderson. It seemed to me Ian Anderson wanted to give his time to the audience that were closer to him. I only could see Jack Clark and John O'Hara and bits of Lakeman's acoustic guitar.

Sounds terribly organised, can't see the stage! Given Andersons current condition it might be no bad thing! Far cry from Jethro Tull in the seventies with Barrie Barlow ect. Surprisingly Andersons still breathing (barely) Given the amount of abuse that his lungs have had to tolerate with his constant tobacco consumption, should have stuck to booze and women!

@andrewjames9996 I have to say I was amazed that a lot of seats had no view of the band or stage at all. Anderson did go walk about with his wireless flute but hardly compensation. Speakers were placed throughout the Cathedral, so they did at least get reasonable sound. As it was for the Cathedral charity, I suppose these good folk made the sacrifice, but very strange

A nice cover band , save for the voacals.

To be fair the vocals were much better live and it was a charity event. However, the concert was very badly promoted, and it was not listed on many gig sites people only knew about word of mouth or people saw flyers in the local pubs or some shop windows. Most seats were in the parapets, and there was no stage view for many, many fans. There were not even monitors to look at. I think Salisbury Catherdral should go back to open-air concerts like they did when Phil Collins performed there for a fundraiser.
From the view I got I could see Ian Anderson's new lead guitarist he was very good but a non-entity. Ian Anderson might as well change his name to Jethro Tull. If the band had Martin Barre still, it would have been a better experience as Martin Barre was a key member of Jethro Tull.
It would have been nice to see Ian Anderson give time to people in the parapets instead of those in the 12 rows or so when we walked off the stage with his wireless flute. He turned away very quickly.
When I saw Squeeze they had all their instruments (Minus drums) wireless so they could play in the audience all around the venue. Everyone could see the band. They even went up to people in the cheap seats, it was a class act.

It's a pity, he knows he has ruined his voice, but he doesn't have the courage or whatever to engage a good singer for those great songs.
