I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how the narrator let the story carry itself. So many TH-camr's try to grab the spotlight from the story and constantly inject themselves over the story. This gentleman (sorry, I don't know his name) let the story be the focus. Very refreshing. Plus I'm now a subscriber. Can't wait to check out other stories from this channel.
You’re the king of guy I’d love to share a beer with.

My ancestors were great American pioneers. Like Dr. Gideon Lincecum. He authored many books and even a biography about the greatest Choctaw war chief and general of the civil war. My great grandfather John Peachlynn Lincecum was a commander of Clark'sville Texas. He was from the same Parish and knew Powhatten Henry Clark very well indeed. Leader of the Famed Buffalo soldiers. Our families still live here in Grant Parish Louisiana. It's something forgotten now. I try to share our history and where we all come from. It's something I'm very proud of. Thanks for your story telling and such a wonderful channel. I enjoy your story telling a great deal.
James Butler Hickok achieved a level of fame and notoriety few men or women ever achieve. In an age lacking social media and rapid transportation that was quite an achievement. Very informative video.

I'd beat this old dumbyy in a dra easy bastard for himself killed playing card sitting at a table super over rated killing heartlessly doesn't make any one more skilled if a shooter I won every top Bra marksman award that I know of and truly I know I could kill this man whom I have known if for over 10years

@@TexasNightRider exactly... Bill has accomplished more than the Kardashians.
If you'd show this on Facebook it would thrill Americans and Europeans.
Thank you 💛 for sharing this honest biography on Wild Bill. He was quite a character. And a great shot! I look forward to watching more episodes.
I've always had a fascination with this man and his era. A time of tough and uncompromising men
Wild Bill Hickok was a legend, one of my favorite, may he Rest In Peace
Ok you might not believe me i know you wont, but I promise im a relative of him its been passed down to me by my grandpa and his father before and his father before etc he was my relative. And my mom did a DNA test and it proved it.
@@retna1x363 I need your contact
Wild Bill was admired by me for his gunplay and being such a badazz
@@retna1x363 Got any stories about him not published? I've been a Hickok fan my whole life!
he was an alluring and dangerous man but he was also a psychopath murderer!
he shot a family who was unarmed and claimed self defense. man was possessed
Doc/Hickok/Wyatt, three of the best from the Wild West.
Thank you for all that you share. It's not just entertaining, but informative also.
Great documentary of Wild Bill!!! Thank you!!!!
I am amazed at how easily Hickok slipped from criminal to law enforcement and back again. Seemingly several times over. Wonderful video!
Not sure why my friend..Not much to slip on..same character traits.
Absolutely brilliant a big well done to you sir I have watched many documentaries about wild Bill and this is the best he is my favourite western character RIP wild Bill God bless America 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment. This is our pilot for this series and how it does determines on whether we produce more. So far it really looks like we will continue with the series.
We need a lawman like Wild Bill today. That old-school class of toughness and bravery.
we used to have cogburn too
@@CrispyChikenSammich - "Fill your hands, you son a bitch!"
Sick...
Mr Hickok really never grasped the term of reasonable force so that would not make him very good at modern day policing. Plus he spent most of his days drunk playing poker. Does America need even more unjustifiable police shooting?
@@carmattvidz4426 you hit the nail right on the head, besides we already have cops with this mentality running rampant in every single police department in America. But here’s a fyi for all the police supporters, the supreme court’s have deemed that the police are not here for our protection whatsoever. So why exactly are they taxpayer funded?
I really appreciate your honest portrayal of Bill Hickhok's life. There are so many stories hyped up by other coyboys or gamblers or other men trying to enlarge there stories. Also many "Dime Novel" or newspaper or authors that it's really hard to ferret out the truth. I've read or seen so many portrayals & I try to sift out the truth. Not always easy. Thank you.
This is by far in a way better quality than some "clips" or episodes that claim to recount Hickock's life and times. Bravo to the fine folks who put History, accuracy and thought into their programming without treating their audience like high school kids who have mush for brains.
Great documentary, really well done!!
Thank you very much
I'm French not American but i just love Wild Bill his story is just incredible !
Great story. Great pics. Great American history. Thank you.
Opened the video with a hymn. Love it.
I wish I could like this two times.
If Bob Terry should see this message, I hope he'd answer... Are there any more episodes of "The Forsaken Westerns?"...and...Are all the episodes of Season's 1, 2, and 3 available together in one dvd set... This collection would be a must have for any and all fans of classic western tv series and western movies... Sadly, Hollywood doesn't have that great wealth of talented actors and actresses anymore to produce anything now that could in any way compare to the GOLDEN ERA OF THE WESTERN TV SERIES and THE WESTERN MOVIES. Thank you Bob Terry for your hard work in searching for and finding these almost forgotten and almost lost treasures of the classic western genre... Bob Terry, if it weren't for you and your colleagues, we would not have the pleasure of enjoying these gems today! Keep up the good work, and I hope you'll be able to somehow find a lot more of these and save them from being lost forever... Thank you Bob Terry... I hope you had a Merry Christmas and will have a successful New Year at "Westerns On The Web".
Thank you For your wonderful comments. We do work pretty hard around here. As for The Forsaken Westerns all the episodes are not available on DVD yet but all are available on The Westerns Channel streaming network.
I love Hickok! He’s my husband’s ancestor. ❤
I would love to go back in time and witness the legends of the Wild West in action. I probably wouldn't make it long, but it would be worth it
Thank you, Bob, for the best and most complete documentary I have ever seen and heard regarding James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickock.
Sorry to ruin it for you, but the script of this video is just a reading from Wild Bill's wikipedia page.
Narrator did a nice job relaying this story and let history speak for itself of those times and seasons of those characters in the past. My mother's side of the family my grandmother told me as a kid that her father in his early days met and was friends with Wild Bill Hikok. She didn't tell me that he killed all those men in fights or gunfighters styles although 😂 Funny thing is my grandmother from Springfield and her Dad was a railroad conductor in his laters years for those times was before he met her mother.
He was my cousin, I am proud to say. I am 65 years old my mother was born and raised in Kansas, her last name was Dixon, but her mother's maiden name was Hickock, we go there quickly. She had our lineage traced back to Wild Bill hand written in a small booklet.
my grandpa told me he was a relative of me
My g-g-grandfather was a friend of your cousin, Wild Bill. We saw him up in Deadwood last summer. 👋🏽
I bet you claim your Cherokee or some shit also
@@keithcalvosa5894 I don't cuz I am not Cherokee or some shit, just Wild Bills cousin. The real question is why would my comment upset you so much that you had to take time to write this ridiculous and ignorant response. You have some issues my friend, you might want to take the time to address that instead of questioning the integrity of someone you don't know.
Are you sure?
On August 2nd every year, I tip a glass of whiskey in Wild Bills honor, thanks for making this video, it included a lot of history I didn't know about.
my moms whole family side is all Hickoks and my birthday is August 2nd 2004
Why on August 2nd? I’m related to him somehow but my family doesn’t know much about him. I just looked him up to learn more about him and how we might be related to him.

Great story thank you so much for posting. Wild Bill man and myth , what a Man !!!
You’re welcome thank you
Fantastic, insightful. Many story's heard, but ur documentary has the ring of truth. Jeff Bridges made a great Wild Bill, as did Keith Carradine in , "Deadwood". Good narration, as well.
Thanks for uploading this episode.
I’ve studied Hickok for some 30+ years. I’m no historian nor author, just a Wild West enthusiast. This is a very comprehensive and subjective bio, besting even some overly sensationalist works by major networks and biographers. Bravo & kudos-
The dude who narrated this literally just summarized the entire Wikipedia page on Hickok. Some parts are even word for word. I stopped watching after 3 minutes as soon as I realized I was just listening to what I just read 5 minutes ago. What a scam
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Bill_Hickok
I visited Hays City a few years ago. I wanted to walk where, or close to where Wild Bill had walked. It is always enlightening to "get the feel" of historic places and Hays City (known my locals as just "Hays" is just such a place.
I have portrait of Hickok from 1900s asking 10.000 k
Excellent account. As with all men, our heroes are flawed men and a mixture of myth and distorted facts but no less remarkable achievers from great adversities of their particular time in our history. We need more of this kind of narratives, it doesn't disappoint that Wild Bill was a questionable character because his legend colorized our western folklore in a larger than life way.
Great documentary! I thoroughly enjoyed it...
Great work buddy - really enjoyed this important part of Old West history!
I really enjoyed that! Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺.
What wonderful old pictures & tales..
I'm an Aussie from Queensland. And I love the old wild west stories of legends like wild bill and Billy the kid.

I currently sit about half an hour from the old boys hometown, Troy Grove Illinois. They have a nice little park dedicated to him.
This is well done thank you!
I've always had a very deep respect for Wild Bill because he fought for the Union against slavery in the Civil War. However, this respect has gotten profoundly deeper when I heard this dude say Hickock's dad helped to free slaves in the Underground Railroad. That whole family is badass in my book.
It really drives me crazy that no reaction channel on TH-cam reacts to the bio-pic Wild Bill with Jeff Bridges. That will always be a legendary western to me.
Great video. New sub here.🎉

Live by the gun

He is still a legend tho...
The best biography of wild Bill I ever watched...
He made the west a much safer place though. Those times certainly needed a man like him and sometimes it would help these days. I've read a lot of good things he did for people but of course struggled with himself. But you're right, no matter the reason, few escape a return blow from the sword once it's lived by.

It was the wild west
He did what he had to do to survive...getting killed only increases his legendary status...he was a boss of the west, killed by a coward!

Hi Jon - got any EA Sports contacts? Let’s make an Ol West video game, with a little flavor of Grand Theft Auto( Ol West Style - no cars - horses ) can win a few hands at poker or win a shoot out to make loot, or be stealthy to steal the Mustang, Thoroughbred, or The Black Stallion, or Hi Ho Silver - the possibilities are endless and to get to next level you have to be victorious at a, high noon, 50 paces, gun slinger mono e mono and you could wager on yourself also. First few quick draws just some random cow tippers, but a few into it, Chavez - you know, Lou Diamond Phillips, from Young Guns haha The Duck Of Death from Unforgivin, then all the way up to Doc Holliday, and even Abraham Lincoln( yes Lincoln was in a duel with guns - like a 10 paces deal but nevertheless totally bad ass ). The final gun fight - Clint mother F N Eastwood!! We got a winner for real - knock on (East)Wood if ya with me!!

Alexander Majors who was one of the owners of the Russell, Majors, Waddell Freight Company and Pony Express went on to publish a memoir of his life in the west called "Seventy years on the frontier". It is a fascinating account of the old west by someone that was a big part of it...
My G-g-grandfather, Richard Clancy Stirk was a friend to Wild Bill Hickok. He told the story of a time when he was in a bar in Cheyenne, Wyoming, drinking with Hickok and a ‘tough’ came in and shouted out that he was looking for Wild Bill, he turns around from the bar and says “I’m right here,” and the ‘tough’ turned around and ran back out.
That was very inrereresting
good job Pard. nice work
I visited deadwood and sat at the spot where he was killed. And visited his grave.
Was the original headstone still there or did someone steal it ? People do things like that like to Jim Morrison grave from morbid fans
One thing that wasn't mentioned about Wild Bill Hickok in this documentary. was that when faced with a shootout he always took a moment longer. than some gunmen that were faster than he was. which made his shots much more deadly because he rarely missed his target. where as many that were faster were less accurate. and he always kept fresh powder and slugs in his pistols.
That's very true. In fact in at least one gunfight he won, the distance was far enough away that he had to adjust his aim before firing while his opponent just kept shooting and his bullets were falling short. Hicock's didn't..
Love forever for you
I own an antique Navy Colt. Wild Billy carried a brace of Navy Colts tucked into his belt, butts forward. They are 38s (actually .36s). They come to hand extremely well and they "point" probably better than any other shoot'n iron of the day. I've shot my Colt, and it shoots fine, but I don't actually "plink" with it. It is ancient and has a four digit serial number, so it was made in 1851. (1852?)
Wild Bill .
Great video!
