I saw Altan in Northampton, Massachusetts in July, 1995. I'm guessing it was their first tour of America after Frankie's passing. At the beginning, Mairead walked out and sang something in Gaelic unaccompanied. I think that anyone who was there would agree with me that she was enchanting, truly enchanting. The rest of the band then joined Mairead, and the show was unforgettable. I felt that everyone in the audience was quite spellbound. I know I was. God bless Mairead.
I love these guys!!!!!! I remember these guys they were staying with George & Pat in Brooklin, Maine!! It was amazing and they played with us at the Blue Hill town hall. We shared a lot of music. I am always grateful for the opportunity. OXO
The best Irish band with Frankie Kennedy (RIP)
Going to Ireland 2024 cannot wait.

Each member of this group is amazing in their own right. I have enjoyed playing with them when the'yve come to Maine
So jealous of you've played w them. I've been playing all their tunes for years! Met Dermot Byrne though. And Tommy Peoples to boot lol
Superb- the best of the best.

Love this group...
powerful tunes... wonderful to see this set from the dawn of Altan
This is my favorite version for sure♥️
When ever I hear you guys I think of Blue Hill and the fun we had at George & Pat's house. Much love be well.
This is a gem! I've never seen them perform some of these tunes live before
Always a grand time to hear you folks. Haven't seen Mark in years here. It is/was always a pleasure to play with you folks, Thanks you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi my name is Altan
He was already sick the poor Frankie?
Amazing flute player
yeah thats the year he died of cancer. but also the year i was born! Frankie did what he loved best! he really lived life to the fullest! :)
So glad Daddy was from Belfast .
All the more remarkable because this was the year Frankie died.
It is so trippy to hear frankie introducing a lot of the tunes. Mairead does most of the talking now
Are there any footages of them playing for Bill Clinton on Saint Patrick’s Day in 1994?
Seems to me Frankie Kennedy was a great speaker for the group on stage. A storyteller, telling the origins of the tunes, etc.
Thank you for this. Íontach ar fad.
Did they ever record Long Ag Seoladh The Ships Are Sailing?
Maybe on a live video?
Is breá liom an banna seo..... ☘☘☘👍👍
I think the first tune is "Pretty Peg." Go Mark, Go, Go, Go. First tune in the second group is "Andy DeJarlis."
