This is the most human feeling I've seen from a youtube video, this didn't just feel like a persona but it felt like I was talking to someone who was genuinely driven and passionate and not just a persona online, Great work!
I support your journey. You are not alone brother. 5 screenplays later and 2 pilots submitted every year to Screenwriting competitions in Hollywood. I have nothing to show for it. I can identify with your dreams. Your fears and anxieties. I have asked myself the same questions. Over and over again. I am now turning my scripts into a Webtoon. Also I am turning my cartoon characters into merchandising. I will be with you on your journey. Please make more content about your process as an artist. You have a new sub. Good luck!
EDIT: HAPPY HOLIDAYS, everyone!! I may not get to reply to every single comment, but I'm blown away by the positive reception! Your thoughts and support are well-received and appreciated! I've seen comments about being able to relate to having the goal of being a mangaka or a creator in general. Good luck to all of us!! Thank you for the wonderful comments and new subscribers! Let's all move forward together and realize our dreams! EDIT: For those wondering about the Anime that I show around the final part of the video, it's Xam'd: Lost Memories. EDIT: By the way, for those who want to read all the manga that won: www.manga-audition.com/smaex3-2018award/
You’ll probably never read this but seeing this video just made me the happiest person in the world right now cause knowing that if you can get your manga published and maybe there’s a shot for me one day. Thank you thank you so much
That was such a relatable video. I’ve moved to many places as well, obviously only within the United States but still, these places are still very different. it’s aspiring seeing someone try to strive for the dream, so keep dreaming on men keep’ DREAMING ON!
I like to say good luck. I am planning to be an animator in Japan. I recently started drawing and i planning to go to art collage to improve my skills. I also like to make manga and light novel too . I yet to start studying Japanese. You see .
As a writer who wants to create a manga of my own, I'm inspired by your success story to continue working on my own project Sadly I can't draw too well but I'll find an artist who'd be willing to help one day! :D I hope the best for your success as a mangaka!
As someone who's 26 and been unemployed for a year and the feeling of being a failure with no future this was inspiring. Because the other thing that happened this year is I've started to become an artist and my dream now, at 26, is to move back to Japan and be an artist.
As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety and wants to start their own journey when it comes to art, this was very inspiring. It’s hard for me to even start posting to get up from bed, all the what ifs, and failures in my life blind me and keep me strapped in my bed. You got this bro. Not only am I rooting for you, but I am also rooting for myself. You’re already inspiring people❤️
A little friendly reminder: skip 11:20 (5 seconds forward) bc there's a little Chainsaw man spoiler. Great video by the way; thanks for being authentic and honest.

I'm crying 😭 I feel I looked in the mirror. I had stable, but not creative job at USA freelance website, because of political situation (I'm from Russia), all russians accounts worldwide are blocked - I lost my job. I have a dream of being an artist since my childhood. There are only few days a year I do not draw. Drawing is my way of revealing what's on the inside. Manhua is my inspiration, so I started to learn chinese a year and a half ago and draw as much time as I can. And... no failure, no success. I got severe panic attakes. It took me month to get over to the stage of living without "flying floor". It was two monthes of being totally disabled, of laying and thinking what went wrong and how I can help myself. Now I'm glad I got this experience, it taught me to care myself, get rid of "that successful artist draws lines this way, you have to draw it so to become successful" that had been blocking my creativity and the way I feel the rhythm in drawings. I'm exactly at that point of uncertainty, you've mentioned! Well, my story has no end, cause, common I'm still living. The same way I feel your story - it's not an end, it's a begining. Begining of your youtube channel) Thank you so much for this video! I rarely write comments, but I couldn't help to react. Such were emotions, inspiration I got from your video. Even language is not an obstacle to dream bravely and be published in Japan) Thank you again! This video will be forever in my heart, as a good omen to keep going!
mangacreatorplus is a monthly international shonen jump competition. if you win you get published in jump+ and get 10k. if you continuously upload chapters on a weekly basis there and do good im pretty sure even if you don't win they'll notice your professional consitency and they will reach out. if that doesn't work Viz originals is another brand that could potentially be sold in Japan as well if it does good in the states. another option is you translate each chapter of your manga and submit to them directly, online, or by entering their local tournaments.
As a guy who has a ton of ideas for mangas but can't draw even if my life depended on it, its really great to see someone following their dreams! Im rooting for u! I was here since kusanagi sensei's first vlog!
I think it's funny how "succesful" people will often tell you how they reminisce and think fondly of the times of struggle and hardships they had to endure to reach the position of esteem and comfort they eventually found themselves in. Almost wishing they were still right there, living off instant noodles clouded by uncertainty. In other words, don't forget to enjoy yourself along the way and don't sweat the small stuff, these are the days man. Had to take a second look at your subscriber count there, amazingly done mate you had my millenial attention span hooked from beginning to end. I'm rooting for you!
I think the pain of never trying versus trying and failing is much more soul eroding. After many many years I finally recaptured my passion for art and have finally gotten into making Videogame Characters. I am so much more happy and just full of life then I ever was pursuing anything else. People have even noticed I seem child like in all of the positive ways when before I was like an old scrooge, often referred to by family and friends as a grumpy old man at the age of 21. Im excited to join on this journey with you, I wish the best of luck and am rooting you on!
This video came at the right time. I’m lost, so lost to the level of fear of living with no purpose or passion in life consuming my soul not just my body, But i found the end of that tunnel and I’m going to that light at the end, I’m a nursing student and this is my last year until graduation, I’m gonna finish and try everything i can to move to japan, and to start my journey there. I love drawing, good at it to a certain level but still learning more things and imma start drawing digitally to start a channel and make what i love. Your video gave me hope, a lot more than you can imagine, thank you.
I honestly want to read your on-shot manga without text..about the girl that meets a strange creature in forest. The art looks stellar and i would love to see more of your work.
I’m a Filipino nurse in the US and an aspiring manga artist. I’m currently working my first one-shot manga and learning JP despite the workload of being a nurse. I’m so happy I found this video ❤
Hey, you're already one step ahead of me by making the TH-cam channel for accountability. I am working a job that I am afraid is causing extreme pain to my wrist, and I don't want regrets in my dream of making manga. I am rooting for you, and wishing you the absolute best!
I don’t ever ever comment on TH-cam videos! But your video really spoke to me. To explain my current situation, I’m a 20 year old currently in my final year of university studying Concept & Comic Art. In fact, I’m about to start my final major project on a story I’ve always wanted to tell and draw. I was very much in the same mindset as you with “what if I don’t succeed” and “what if people don’t like it.” I decided a couple of months back that if I keep saying this to myself, when will I ever do it? So I’m deciding to so it. I also want to become a professional manga-ka in the future as well. It’s a dream I will still probably always try and chase. I had some success with my manga work back in November when I was one of the finalists for the Artist Talent search for 2000AD. I was surprised to even get to the finals just since my style was obviously manga, not traditional British comic style. But throughout the feedback and people commenting on my work - I think that what gave me the confidence boost I needed to keep going no purse further. I think I was always trying to achieve perfection which, I think as we all know, is impossible to achieve. But I think recently my mind has finally settled to “Let’s do this” rather than “Let’s worry and delay”. I want to tell this story and nobody else will - if it stays a passion project, it will be a passion project. I want success, but I also want achievement myself. And I think the biggest achievement would be telling the story. So I’m hoping to enter it for the CLIP STUDIO School manga competition. Of course I would love to win a prize, but instead of the prize now, the prize for me is telling the story. Let’s both keep working hard! We can do this. 💙✨ Let’s both aim high!
I am a bit late, but I think a number of things you are dealing with, and experiencing, I am personally experiencing right now without a doubt. I hope to see the end of the tunnel for what I am trying to do, and be the best I can be. I had a falling of grace the past few years due to losing friends after high school, taking college courses, to the pandemic, and moving away for a 4 year college that I basically couldn't keep up with, and dropped out within a year. During that time, i've gained 60 pounds, and only recently i've gotten friends that I could talk about this, and frankly are pushing me in the right direction to a certain extend, given they live internationally, and are in significantly different timezones. One series i've found to help me has been berserk, from story telling, extremely well done concepts & themes, and the character guts that frankly has moved me to be better, and to struggle through life. Without a doubt a series I would recommended whatever you're personal background, assuming you haven't read it. Given what I know of you through this video, I think you researching the author's back story, schedule, and how he lived his life, while he created and written Berserk is an upmost Due diligence I can suggest for you to learn about manga creation, and how that effects the story and the emotions portrayed in series. Probably one of the strongest themes in the manga is dreams, and how it plays apart of the plot, and how it influences multiple aspects of the story, from prophecies, to information for the characters, and minor characters. What I think is mainly what I want to bring in mind is the value and worth of a dream, if you value you're dream over others, or you value the people in you're life over you're dream(s), and it certainly is a fucking massive pill to swallow when its brought up.
Woah Im from Philippines too~! I'm a pinay creator but right now i'm doing self publish and doing kickstarter to sell my books~ I'm happy that i saw this video recommend by youtube and this gives me a motivation and inspiration to make more comics~
私は日本ごもべんきょします。まんががだいすきです! Seriously, great video! I'm excited to go on this journey with you my man. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say you're not alone in feeling these self-doubts... but your story of perseverance is definitely giving hope to those of us who feel this way too. Don't usually comment on videos but I'm on a similar journey to achieve long held dreams myself... thanks again! がんばって!
I'm inspired by your story, I'm 16 and turning 17 next year I am also from the land of sisig and wanted to become a mangaka, When I become one I will come back to this video and thank you properly, I am on the verge of giving up cause my art sucks, BUt you gave me the motivation to continue, Someday I will become a great mangaka! (Hopefully)
You can see a huge improvement from manga to manga. I paused to read each one, and the first one to get an award was also the first one I understood. It flowed a lot better and was fun to read. Quite impressive.
As a Filipino who shares a liking to Japanese mangas, I often thought of a Filipino artist making it into the manga industry and somehow shakes the industry with his/her story. I think it would likely be you sir, I recently read your works and it's great! I wish you the best in your journey and I hope you'll reach your dream. I will now count myself as your fan and a supporter as a fellow Filipino and a manga fan. :>
I have to say that I've read your amazing entries for SMA some time ago (i participated in a couple of rounds) and I was blown away by your talent!! Thank you for uploading this and starting your channel, you're a true inspiration and you have all my support! I'm sure you'll go far and achieve all your goals ✨️🙌
Yo! Little support from Colombia (yeah, other side of the world). Trying to become Mangaka as well ( and I do not even draw). I hope you make it, keep motivated and inspired. See you at the top.
I just found your channel i realised this was a year ago and after watching this i searched through your videos and saw your views fell off after the first video this video i just want to let you know whatever happens dont give up continue going you got this after watching this video i can tell its well made and your manga lookd amazing so many talented artists out there unfortunately its a competetive space these days and unfortunatly not everyone is gonna make it but i hope you do i feel like your future is bright so keep going
I loved Boogeyman Blues! It's so refreshing to see stories with math that actually put something real in there. I was not expecting an actual walkthrough solution, lol. The art was great! I'm looking forward to the vlog.
While watching I realised my ambitions to be a mangaka in Japan is scarily similar to yours, my goal to draw my own stories and to get to the land of the rising sun one day is daunting but one I'm working towards nonetheless, that said I enjoyed this video alot and I just want to say I think you can get there, though it might be difficult. if you can get to where you are right now I can rest easy know my ambitions aren't just a dream, for now that's enough, I can get there and that's all I need for now.
I just want to say just because you failed many times doesn't mean you not good. Dude, I think your work looks INSANE!!! I draw myself but never that good. I'm glad I came across your video and I would love to see where you go from here. KEEP PUSHING DUDE! YOU'LL GET THERE!!!!!
Awright!!!! Filipino manga-ka in the rising I'm proud to say that you, in this exact moment gave me the inspiration to continue learning how to draw I want to publish my own manga's in the future and shows my fellow Filipino citizens that I'ma break the cycle of comics in the Philippines. By the way I'ma subscribe hope you become successful in the future I'ma spam that like button as much as I can in each and every single one of your videos.
To be honest i wasn't expecting this when i clicked on this video, but you told this story of your passion i was moved and it was very refreshing i hope you get your series published
I like how positive the community here is building up to become! May we all inspire each other and not just always showcase just the successes and make people realize we have to go through a pile of crap. Sometimes all we see on youtube are just people reaping what they’ve sown and we forget their humble beginnings. Glad to be witnessing success while it’s still a diamond in the rough 🥰
Make a manga of your life or semi-autobiographical, because it certainly grabbed my attention, compelling. Also, don't compare yourself to others, don't think how far you have to go, reflect on how far you've come from where you started. My former younger self, circa 18 years old, would have been impressed you managed to: get an education beyond high school; work in another country, twice; learn Japanese; and, above all, pursue a career as a manga-ka! Hey, you're living the dream of many, including my former younger self! Good for you!
Found this video on the front page and it's comforting to watch this trial and error, since I'm going through the same thing. I'm getting more into my art and I know that's a struggle. But this video made me remember not to fear it, but to try to work with it.
Kay I just finished watching - It's clear that this video is the culmination if your creative work before, and I actually learned sime storytelling techniques that I can use for these manga competitions myself. Whether you win or lose, my attitude is, who cares! You've already left an impression on me!
I have been ignoring my work procrastinating for too long! But i will say this to you honestly, your video has given me a new perspective and im already back to work. Im sure you've inspired many here, you've truly changed. This is one of those videos and channels that you rarely come across. You've got something special here, and I'll be here for the journey of your channel. Waiting for the next vlog, lets WIN THIS TOGETHER!!!
Seeing a fellow filipino artist be in Japan is already inspiring enough, your art, and your personal journey and how you plan to go about this, definitely gave me a permission to see things like this as a possible thing, I'm glad I stumbled upon this channel
i have no words man... you will go far!!! for new storytellers your in my top 3! i dream to be like you someday. keep your head up dude and keep up the grind. also in 4 weeks about 10k subs dude your getting there! ^ ^
This video is literally like a gift to me. I was literally contemplating on starting a yt channel talking about my journey to become a manga artist as well and this morning I get this recommended to me by TH-cam. Its like they heard my cries and gave me an answer. Thank you kusanagi for this video and I will follow on this journey and by doing so start my own.
Idk if you made a TH-cam channel before, but this has all the makings of a veteran youtuber. I was captivated throughout, and damn those manga are beautiful. I'll definitely watch the vlogs you post
You are EXACTLY what I needed. While I’m not exactly in your situation, I also dream of being a mangaka(be it in the states or, if God allows, in Japan) and seeing someone in near similar situations give me my own hope. Sorry if this was long

Keep the fire burning, man. It will shine. And you can join the manga village with other talents.

(Hopefully)
Good luck!!
@@kusanagi420 thankssss
Along for the ride my friend, onward and upward
You can see a huge improvement from manga to manga. I paused to read each one, and the first one to get an award was also the first one I understood. It flowed a lot better and was fun to read. Quite impressive.
Thanks for the feedback!!
This feels like the beginning of a new masterpiece movie.
Plough through all the hurdles that appears in front of you! You may take a rest, but don't ever quit. All the best!
I’ve actually read a couple of your manga in the SMA before, you are really talented, don’t give up. The girl at the shrine was my favorite.
Thanks for the feedback!
Lets go!!!! Can't wait to see where this goes. Goodluck.
I wish you luck man your storytelling is really great.

Your editing, way of filming, passion and just pure story telling ability is top notch. This being your first video is insane.
Go for it dude!
Yo peep that Xam'd in the background! It's so underrated!!!! Love it
Got this in my recommended and watched all the way through thinking it was from a TH-camr with at least 100k subs! Keep up the good work!
I'm glad I found your channel and I cant wait to continue this journey with you! I know for a fact that one day I'll be reading one of your works
Very inspiring po. Def subscribing. Hoping to see more manga creation related content from you.
As someone with a similar dream, all I can say is 一緒に頑張ろう!!
Glad this got in my feeds man, I'm already a fan!
Actually uploading it near the beginning of the new year kinda makes it even better to me.
Glad you liked it!!
If this video reaches a million views . There’s a good chance your TH-cam channel will be succeed
Amazing storytelling!
Tagal Philippines then ako idol God bless u keep up the good work, laban lang!!♥️♥️♥️♥️🇵🇭🇵🇭

I WOULD LOVE TOO SEE YOUR JOURNEY
You got yourself a subscriber my man
I hope your dream will become reality, I really do, keep going man
Make a manga of your life or semi-autobiographical, because it certainly grabbed my attention, compelling.
But this video made me remember not to fear it, but to try to work with it.
insane, inspiring

Count me in Kababayan, lodi ka namin, suporta kami sa'yo bro and make a livestream of your drawing session
Seeing a fellow filipino artist be in Japan is already inspiring enough, your art, and your personal journey and how you plan to go about this, definitely gave me a permission to see things like this as a possible thing, I'm glad I stumbled upon this channel
Thanks!!

All of this hard work and hardship just shows your resolve. You’ve got this!
You are EXACTLY what I needed. While I’m not exactly in your situation, I also dream of being a mangaka(be it in the states or, if God allows, in Japan) and seeing someone in near similar situations give me my own hope. Sorry if this was long
Really enjoyed this video! The way you animated on paper shooting with a camera was really unique to me.
Maybe one day you can make income on this channel, I am personally excited to see your future in the manga scene.
