- Hey everyone and welcome back to Iowa Classic Cars! This video talks about my survivor 1962 Chevy belair that I bought in the fall of 2020 that has been off the road for at least 20 years. We were able to drive it and was able to get it back on the road after sitting for so long. This car is a great example of a survivor in the fact that its all original and untouched and actually pretty rust free, given its age! This classic Chevy is now back on the road and running again after its long slumber, and is being enjoyed by the new owner! Make sure to subscribe for more classic car saves as well as will it run videos and first starts! Rescuing old cars is in my blood and you can expect to see many more car rescues on the channel!
Thanks for watching!

Your outlook on saving these old cars is awesome!!
Thanks man!
I have a close friend of mine that has sold a lot of 4 door cars overseas . I don't know why Americans are obsessed with hardtops and convertibles . I have had many nice 4 door sedans and wagons and enjoy them very much . When I was growing those cars were the norm and I like the nostalgia associated with them. Glad you saved it .
Glad you liked it!
You convinced me with the overseas thing. Some people are horrible the way they've cut up 4 doors. Underdogs for the win!!!
Haha glad i could help!
1962 is my favorite year. I'm not too sad to see this one go overseas, knowing someone will appreciate it and keep it alive rather than make it a parts car or convert it into an Impala. Hopefully the new owner keeps it as an original Bel Air. I feel like it's paying it forward, seeing how many cars that people in the states import from Japan or Europe.
Yep they leave them as is!
A car should be in the hands of someone who loves it and appreciates it for what it is, regardless of where on the planet that happens to be. Great to see this car have a caring owner. It's a shame so many good cars have been squandered over the decades... so it's up to us to save what's left!!
Yep gotta save all we can
I'm not a crew cab fan, but I'm glad you got this one a new home. I don't mind it going to Sweden at all.
64 Impalas are my fave, followed by the 62
I grew up in the 60’s and adore all these classics. Thanks for keeping this beauty in one piece, although it’s kind of sad it was sent overseas. Keep saving these awesome cars Ryan.
Thanks for watching Bob!
Meh, on one hand, I'm not happy our cars get sent overseas, then again, on the other hand, I'm glad they do because there, they get fixed up and used, not left here to sit and rot and get cut up.
To me, 4 door cars, station wagons have history as survivor's...They are part of history too and deserve to be saved...
So thanks for saving this one and passing it to someone that will care for it..
Gotta save them, they arent being made anymore!
@@IowaClassicCars that's very true!!! Glad you saved this one!
Love the old gals, they built em solid back then. Not like the plastic crap they slap together today. Good job on saving all these old treasure's. 👍💞
Thanks Dennis!
I love the ash trays in every door arm rest. Different times, different times...
yup different era thats gone away sadly
As long as they are saved and loved and not stripped, I don't care where they go. Please 🙏 if you ever come across a 2-4 or wagon of a 1970 Impala please save it they are slowly coming into there own as collectables. Thank you for another great video.
Thats my mission, save em all!
Growing up we had a 62 Pontiac for about 15 years , great car !
Yea cant beat a GM!
Thank you for saving this car!
Thanks for watching!
Back in the 80's I bought a 99% rust free 1964 Bel Air 4 door to cut up and use for my very rusted Impala SS restoration. I ended up putting all my efforts into that Bel Air and absolutely loved that car! I enjoyed driving that car for years and of the dozen or so cars I had, it is the one car I wish I had again. Love those old Chevy's. Thanks for the great videos!
Nice man, glad you didnt chop it!
God I love that car !!
I am amazed at how good this car looks considering it's 59 years old. I'm a big fan of 4dr sedans and wagons.
Glad you enjoyed!
Great save Ryan! This one was way too nice to part out. It looks like the new owner has repaired some of the rust thru spots on the lower fenders. Nice!
Glad you liked it man!
Thanks for not selling it to someone who wanted to cut it up, I personally love the old 4 door cars just as much as 2 doors.
Thanks for watching!
Wow good find .. keep them coming!!
I got a 62 two door hard top. Love the 62’s.
Thanks man, youll like my next 4 videos for sure!
I would drive that everyday too.
I did for about a week lol
1962 is my favorite year of Impala. Growing up my parents bought a brand new 62 Impala SS which was silver with black interior,. A few years later, my brother totaled it, and my Dad then replaced it with a used 62 4 door Impala which was black with red interior. They were both great cars. The SS was my favorite though. Keep saving the old Chevys. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed!
*I like everything, just some more than others...*
*Studebakers, International trucks, Buicks...*
If some folks don’t like it that saved old cars are going overseas, maybe they should get off their prats and save some themselves. I believe America still gives the owner the right to decide what happens to his / her property. I congratulate you on your initiative and hustle. Do whatever you wish, young man. Passionate pursuit of a dream was once so common that it made America great. Sadly . . . .
Yep i totally agree
What I love is all the people that passed on 4 doors.are the ones that will never have a 2 door.lol! I have both and enjoy the 4 door the same.2 door don't change what it does.
Exactly!
@@IowaClassicCars I have a 69 sport sedan impala and get the same looks as a 2 door.the most common muscle car now is a dodge charger and it's a 4 door.4 doors are getting just as rare as 2 nowadays cause people make 2 doors and convertibles impala with 4 doors.
country. 4 DOORS NEED TO BE SHOWN RESPECT. It's that simple.
They run like a sowing machine don’t they. That guy got a sweet one!
The nice thing about 4 doors and wagons is often times you get a bigger bang for your buck most folks don't consider that
Oh yeah thats so true
WOW SHES A HEALTHY ONE! yup them swedes and danes love our HUGE AMERICAN CARS! HAHAHA
Great report glad you saved it and sold it on to an enthusiast who will cherish and care for it. Too many people in our society treat all things as disposable, which they are of course, but a survivor like that Bel-Air is worth keeping, even the original paint was inoffensive perhaps not the best shade but certainly typical of the era.
Love 62's my first car was a 62 impala 4 door hardtop. That's why my favorite is 62 .
I had a neighbor years ago that had a '62 Chevy 4 door hardtop that he bought new. It was painted "autumn gold." During the '80's, he gave it to another neighbor who did some mechanical work on it, and painted it brown. (I would have preferred he had buffed out the original paint). But hey, the guy got it running better than when he got it.
I have a 62 4 door with a 235 6 cylinder 3speed on the column. Had been sitting since 1971. I got it in 2020.
Good video , yes i would sell iit whole over seas before i would part it out . Thats a survivor !
Exactly!
When I was in college in Rapid City we used to use our days off to go scrounging for relics to pick up and sell on eBay to pay the rent! Lots of dry stuff out on those ranches!
Haha yeah the western guys are blessed with clean metal!
@@IowaClassicCars And warm weather!
Ryan another great purchase. I'm always happy to see someone snatching up a 4 door sedan. They were the back bones of our nation and certainly deserve a place in the vintage car world. It's too bad you didn't take some videos of his '59's!
Dont worry, more 59 videos coming! Lol
That looks awesome. That's the same roof that was on my 64 Pontiac 4 door sedan Catalina that I had. They had the same roof from 61 to 64. I love the dash. So glad you saved it. Great patina.
Beautiful car.
Great video as always
Thanks josh!
Save the old iron some one was the proud owner of this car. It made it this far bring on the next chapter
Sweden has to be one of the biggest export markets for classic American cars. During the summer they are a common sight on Swedish roads, especially in rural parts of the country.
Yeah i hope to visit sweden soon!
Nice car! Almost bought one 30 years ago for $300. Sadly
though, it was crushed by a
large tree at the seller's home
a few days before I was to buy it. Never found another one
like it. Sure would like to have
this one!
Damn what an unfortunate event!
I have a 62 Fairlane 500 if you are int and it is very nice . B.T.W. My father ordered a 62 Bel Air bought it new ordered it from the factory .It was a 283 power steering Powerglide padded dash (yep padded dash) black red interior .He stated as the years passed that it was the most dependable car that he ever owned
We had one just like it. didn't have the white top. Dealer Added Under Dash A/C. Venetian blinds in the back window (metal with metal brackets!) 283 4V Dad bought it 1 year old and drove it till 68 and bought a 4 Door Hardtop Impala with a 307 2V
Im getting a 68 4dr hardtop next weekend!
Wow! I'm first! Cool car Ryan! Wow that's a sweet runner, I get a kick out of the guys that whine when you sell the cars overseas! One day they're telling you it's not worth anything and the next they're telling you how you shouldn't have sold it overseas!
Nice Danny! 💪
4 doors make it easy to get in and out of the back seat.
Yup exactly
I agree that it is very unfortunate that Americans do not appreciate these cars. Once they are all gone, maybe they will. I will never let go of my solid 1955 4 door Belair.
Yeah its a sad reality
Talk bout build quality. Nice job Ryan. Keep it up boss, respek👍
Thanks man!
Hey Ryan, another great save and the bullet proof 327 to boot. Happy that it went to an appreciative home but I have to take issue to your statement that 4doors and wagons are not appreciated in the States. You might look up market prices and auction results for Vista Cruisers, Impala wagons, LTD wagons ect. Four doors are currently less about parts cars and more about affordable entry level market classics. Two doors have become out of reach for many. I would gladly step up for a clean '63 Impala, Belair, Biscayne four door to add to my '63 SS any day of the week.
I follow the market alot and sadly....they just arent as popular as 2 drs. And alot of good 4 drs get cut up to save rusty hardtops and converts here in the states
@@IowaClassicCars I think you need to reread my comments.
i have a 62 with a body just like that.same color.three three speed column shift inline six.i bought it in tampa in 11.it had 26,000 miles on it garage kept and at one point had sat maybe thirty years the body and interior were unbelivable i got a very good price because it was a four door sedan column shift six without the backup light...................just what i had wanted for more than thirty years.maybe i will do a video.
Good save! I agree with you. It would be sad to chop up a runner for parts!
Definitely!
I.C.C.---I AM A BIG FAN OF YOUR VIDEOS,,....I LIKE 4 DOORS OR WAGONS THEY HAVE MORE ROOM.. WOW,, YOU DID A GREAT THING SAVING THIS CARS HISTORY LIFE >> TO ONE TO OTHER..EVERY ONE IS HAPPY !! CHOPPING THE CAR UP TAKING THE ENGINE OUT IS S T U P I D !!!! THANKS,,,.....
Sweden friend has a 66 Chev too. Like he did w/ the Buick, had to print out his km/h speedometer.
Haha yup!
Not a Chevy man but I would drive it real descent car looks good
Glad you liked it!
I’ve always liked four door classics.
glad someone else does too!

Most likely yea
Won my first drag race in a Roman red 4dr belair.my dads 300hp sleeper.
Nice one!
What was the mileage on the speedo?
I think 62k
Favorite year if money was no option, ‘65 409 car
I do love a 65 409! Very unique to see
Surf Green over Laurel Green. My great grandfather emigrated from Ringkobing Denmark so I have Scandinavian blood.
Nice!!
Interesting specs Factory two tone paint but no backup lights
Hi I'm Mark in UK, great show love it, do you source any parts at all I have a 56 Olds over here and some small parts needed but no junk yards here need some small trim items really any ideas 🤔many thanks
I would have Love to have that as a daily driver!! ( 4dr especially) Ain't any affordable ones left around New England. 🖒🇺🇸
The rust out in your area is unbearable!
Oh yeah !
I would love to have a 64 Biscayne
or Bellaire 6cyl 3on the tree ! I'd drive
it to work ( 2mi a day ) . I really like
the 230 to 250 eng.
good condition for a old girl how many miles on the clock
I think 60k?
I think what you guys are doing is ideal give second lives to classics rather than chopping them up....wish we had more of them in sunny 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thanks for the comment man
Do you have any others for sale? I'd love to buy
Its gone lol
@@IowaClassicCars yeah... I didnt get to that part of the video yet....lol.. I would love a 60's model 4 door. If you have any for sale I am willing to buy
Do you still have this one?
I"ll be coming into some big
cash soon. If not this car, do
You have anything for sale
that resembles it?
no its long gone
is it for sale
In sweden lol
Some questions. Could be too personal, no disrespect is intended. I have the exact same car with an original 283 engine and three on the tree transmission. Four door as well. I paid under $2k. Could I ask what you paid for your and what your buddy over in Sweden paid
You got a really good deal
I'd be plenty happy with a four door or wagon. I like nice cars as well as anyone, but I'm still a function over fashion kind of guy.
I know what you told me before. If the car stayed here it would end up a parts car or junked. But it still SUCKS to see ANOTHER one leave the counrty.
Yep at least it was put back on the road and not cut up!
Hey IowaClassicCars. Do you know how much your friend in Sweden payed for shipping...? I live Denmark...
I want to say about $3000 total. But not 100% certain
@@IowaClassicCars Thank you... and for all the rescues...more more!
*What's the pedal on the right again...*
*"Showcasing this stuff"*
*STOP, this isn't "The Price Is Right"*
What ?
You ok buddy? Grab a Snickers. You're angry when you're hungry!
@@IowaClassicCars
In the last video you had a funny name for the accelerator pedal...
The word "showcase" belongs in "The Price Is Right" not here, we're a bunch of dudes, not housewives. My comments are being misunderstood because there's no voice inflection. Love the channel...
@@joeschlotthauer840 we can all have our own expressions. lol my grandpa called the gas pedal the foot feed for a LONG time, and i say it too....nothing wrong with that. I am also showcasing the car. Its not a showcase to be won....while i get what youre saying, i think thats getting pretty nitpicky of the videos. but glad you enjoy the channel

Yeah most likely
Did I see another survivor on your customer’s video..next to the one he bought from you. Couldn’t determine what is was.
No that wasnt one from me, but good eye!
This is how RRR of gas monkey garage got started, he would flip Cadillac's or any very large cars to Sweden to his friend Marcus, a loyal customer, must have bought dozens of cars from him and probably still does, car culture is alive and well in Sweden.....just ask Christian Von Koenigsegg and his new Jesko hot rod.......
Yeah but i dont just do it for the money, lol i love these cars!
@@IowaClassicCars So do all car guy's, it's the love of these olde cars, that make people a success. it's our passion to bring these vehicles back to life, when your work is your passion, you will never "WORK" again, it's one's passion.....
what's your name on instagram?
Love you’r channel!

The only thing wrong with your video's is they are to short lol.
Haha i can work on that
You and I both like the same years in cars.I was born in 1959 and have always liked the space age era of cars.
As much as I appreciate your videos, I'm not really interested in what cars you have flipped.
Dont worry, once the snow melts youll see plenty of rescues from me
