For me nothing tops the Bundesliga's scoreboard the've had since 21/22. It's big and you can always clearly see the score and time.
Sky sports has been doing it for Prem games this season, it’s great
The new laliga scoreboard reminds me of it a lil bit

Also a huge fan of their expandability, so you can see the team names & time more clearly
The problem with the Bundesliga's scoreboard is visible in Germany, here Sky put it on the right side, which is just an eyesore
UCL score bugs from the early 2010s will always hold a special place in my heart
Especially when the badges of clubs rotate slightly and face each other when an update happens. That was pure art

At the start of the season I hated it. But its grown on me a bit. Its pretty mid tier imo and beats a lot of the ugly ones of the past. But is a downgrade from last season for sure

It's alright. It's not exactly bad-looking, but it lacks the pizzaz of the 2007-2013 ones and also isn't as clean as the last one. The NBC one too is beautiful. It's just clearly the weakest one in a while
Personally i think although flawed is still fine . bit better then the 2019 one, but no where near the mid 2000s - early 2010s scoreboard of the prem.
I personally like the scoreboard, cause it shows the colours of the teams.
I agree I thought it was ugly at the start but I don't mind it now. Last seasons was better though
VAR errors on top of that i cannot believe this is the biggest league of the biggest competition in the world

Nothing tops the PL visual identity shift and scoreboard in 2016, people may call it too minimalistic but I think it suited the league so much, especially with the intros using rl pics of players, managers, crowds, and the cherry on top was that 🔥 of a theme tune

I didn't know that the rebrand personally was implemented from the PL summer series tournament in July this year. My favorite scorebug was the early 2010s one.
I adore the glossy scoreboards of the early 2010s. Nowadays that general style is called Frutiger Aero, and I was a massive fan of that art style at the time. So to have the Premier League follow in its footsteps made kid me so happy. Which is why i was also so mad when they simplified everything and made it flat/boring to look at

Honestly, I kind of like the new scoreboard. It pretty much has everything you want from a scoreboard, good visibility, (team) colors and simplicity. Also the Prem logo in the middle also brings everything together. If you compare it to the previous one it is still simple, but with more character and generally more interesting. Also I like the fact that the score numbers are bigger, you can just see them on the first glance. In the end I think for you this just needs a little time to get used to, but I already like it.
The old one was miles better.

It’s quite unique and I like it. Its focus is on the score and the team colours which are the most important elements of a scoreboard for the viewer.
Please Maqwell, make a video on how insane the Brazilian league is right now.

@@dylanbetts87745 games to go, three teams are tied on points, four more still have a chance to win the league, totaling to 7 teams. The current leader, Botafogo, had something like a 16 point lead like three months ago and then had a streak where they won only 3 out of like 9 games after that and bottled the lead Arsenal style, with the 4-teams-relegated system they've got, that fight is also interesting. But what's really insane is just the games they're playing I'd recommend watching Botafogo vs Palmeiras and Gremio highlights, that league is fucking PEAK

Honestly I think LaLiga's one this season is a masterpiece for those who like minimalistic touches thats how far u can go. You have everything there, team badges, team abbreviations, jersey color indicator, red card indicator...
The team names are microscopic, though.

Maqwell, I'm on my knees begging you, please make a video on the Brazillian league. We're potentially witnessing a bottle job to put Arsenal's to shame. Botafogo had a 13-points lead after the first half, the best first half campaign of all time, and everyone thought the title race was done and dusted. But now after going winless in 5 straight games they are leveled on points with Grêmio and Palmeiras, 1 point ahead of Bragantino and 3 ahead of Flamengo, with 5 matches left in the season. It's just insanity over here right now.

Never thought I'd come across a scoreboard nut like myself. As a megafan of Cricket I can really appreciate the sort of work that goes into these as they update consistently throughout the game and I legit only clicked this video because of the thumbnail calling my name.
Liga MX scoreboards have seen numerous changes over different TV channels but my personal favorite will always be Univision's scoreboard from 2013-2019, it has a really nice distinct touch to it and feels pretty nostalgic.
Same I love that scoreboard unlike the one now also because it's when when mis chivas were last champions
Liga MX reminds me of NCAA College Football because so many different networks have rights to it at the same time
I think the "glossy era" aligns more with the design trend of "frutiger aero" and such of the time. Imo, probably one of my favorite design trends of the late 2000s/early-mid 2010s - especially for scorebugs. (2010/14 World Cup, 2012 Euros, early '10s UCL scorebugs...etc) The glossiness just makes it pop out more, and provides more nostalgia.
Sky took this, ran with it, and have never let go. Their Sky Q service still reflections and glass effects even though it was launched in 2016 - way after the trend's heyday.

Thankfuly NBC still has their own and will keep using it for now

Glad you made a video on this, for some reason I’ve not seen anyone talk about how ugly it looks - the worst thing for me though is the new premier league shirt badges, it’s just the lion blown up and slapped on the side of the shirt it looks terrible, the one with the lion in the circle just looked so much more classy
You should cover the Bundesliga's too. They've had some nice changes over the years. Current one is not the best but tolerable

I actually like the new Premier League scorebug. At first I only thought it was only for the Premier League Summer Series. I also hope that NBC adopts the scorebug they use for NFL and College gridiron for the Premier League. And I also have an unnatural obsession for scorebugs, particularly during the Super Bowl.
I don’t get what you’re talking about at all to be honest. I freaking love this new scoreboard. It’s creative, it’s refreshing, it’s super clear (for the most part, they need to fix the white on gray problem though) and overall very aesthetically pleasing to look at. I love the lion in being the middle, and the text size is just perfect.

I can see what they were going for. It's big, colorful, and full of action. A departure from the monotone boxes of the past. I don't think it will stay, and I don't really care for it, but I prefer it to the boring boxes of the past. Those just remind me of Windows 8.

I love the topic of broadcast graphic for sports, my favourite little thing to do each season is to go watch some footage of different competitions to see if there is anything new. I don't know how popular it will be but I would love to watch a video about the history of the scoreboard, just like the bit you did here but longer.

I was just talking about this with my dad last weekend. They've completely removed the club names from the bug, it's just badges. He had to ask me who was playing, he recognised Newcastle but had no idea what Bournemouth's badge was. He said he would have guessed Sunderland. It looks fairly nice, but you have to follow the league quite closely to know what the hell is going on.

i like the sky sports scoreboards the most tbf, ever since like 2010 they have been lovely
My first few football games are actually PES (i.e., Man Blue and London FC) instead of FIFA and it's clear that license wasn't their strong suit. However, for every edition, there were always different mods that were free to download, so it "patches" things up (nice accidental pun). I remember choosing the design for the scoreboard was an additional delight to the experience and I love it. Glad to see someone else shares the same passion for this seemingly trivial thing.

Ngl I love this season's scoreboard (the one that shows on SuperSport in Africa, a.k.a. the one Maqwell doesn't like). The colours are bold and in-your-face and I can immediately tell which team is which.
