Justin, I love how patient you are with all the kiddos. You teach them so much more than just homesteading. Give him a job. I loved it. He had to have felt important, trusted and needed. :) you are raising great men, and a daughter that will know what kind of man she deserves in her life. Makes my heart smile.

Love the parenting! You both are amazing! Sweet boy in the garden and mom asked him to get out kindly and then dad redirected his energy and gave him a job! Small moment but amazing to see.

Plantain is a wonderful healing herb! Works amazing for itchy bug bites and has other healing properties. We live in Northern Minnesota, so we use it on itchy mosquito bites the most. Takes the itch away almost instantly.

Rebekah reminds me of my Momma, with the peas. Every year, Daddy would grow lots of peas, and every year Momma would graze while weeding. Daddy considered himself lucky if he got one bowl of peas out of it all! 😂💖

I have a suuuuuper tiny container garden, and tonight we ate our first zucchinis! They were soooo good! It’s mostly herbs, but I have two zucchini plants, some rainbow carrots, some lettuce, a jubilee tomato plant, & a sweet million cherry tomato plant. That sweet million is growing like yours are. Flowers bring me so much joy too!

Loved this video! Like seeing the OTHER side of farming from this TH-camr. I know Justin is more into the ANIMALS while the Mrs is more into growing the veggies they eat and now she growing 'dedicated' flowers too! And then of course there are the kids and the family interaction. Very well rounded look at this farm. Your garden is beautiful! Looking forward to 'HARVEST' time. Be blessed!

14:23 they do! Basil more so. You just need tons to mask the chemical trails of the vegetables. I successfully grew a little of everything this year by letting the basil from last year self seed. I planted my vegetable starts in the 10 x 2 of basil and the infestation of locust hasn't destoryed any. I just gotta keep the basil trimmed. The bugs take bites but 9/10 come up with a monthful of basil and they don't stick around. This is the first year I was successful growing any vegetabes and I owe it to the basil.

To think it's the bad smelling marigolds that help with pests. But companion planting in general especially with lot of different fregrances helps confuse the pests too.
