Edit: When I used to do excavations for a utility company, on the truck we'd have a "beach umbrella" for very sunny days when we'd have to dig a hole. We'd position the umbrella in front of the hole so that the person with the shovel would be in the shade. There were some units that worked in the deserts where the temperatures were over 100° or more, where they'd not only need the umbrella, they'd have to keep their tools in a five gallon bucket of water to keep them cool. Otherwise the sun could warm them to the point which they'd be too hot to handle! Another good thing for very sunny times is a Hawaiian hat made of reeds, which keeps away both the sun and the flies. I found the umbrella set up and want to thank you for showing me something I needed in my own garden! I also love my broad-fork tool and I find I prefer it over tilling the garden as it is easier to use.

Your oldest has a good head on his shoulders. Not many in the under 30's would have a clue about what he knows.
