I would say the Republic were fairing very well against the Imperial Guard until the arrival of the Baneblade and the Imperial Knight. I’d give this win to the republic if the two mentioned Warhammer units didn’t appear. Those two turned the tide for the Imperial Guard in this battle, and the Republic didn’t have the proper firepower and damage output to deal significant damage against the Baneblade and Imperial Knight.

Man, this was insane, but i guess in order to hold the horrors of the galaxy, like the tyranids or the orcs or chaos demons you have to be the toughest of them all. I don't think such hardship exists in any other universe as in the dark grim future.
