You can definitely do this!!! I quit cold turkey on Dec 7, 2016. Smoked my last cigarette and never looked back. Deciding once and for all to do it was the key for me. I’m kind of competitive...so for me it helped to every day keep a tally of how many days I had gone. Once I hit 30 days, the few times the urge hit me, I just reminded myself if I cave into the craving, I would have to start at 0 again. That kept me motivated. It was actually much easier to quit than I ever thought it would.... because I actually wanted to finally quit. Now, I do still get cravings a couple of times a year, but they go away just as fast as they come on!! You’ve got this!!!
I have the exact same strategy as you. Cold turkey, and count the days. I feel pretty confident so I think I got it!! Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Looks like a pretty good substitute for the ole cigs. My mom smokes the exact pack and has been trying to quit over the past few months, been smoking roughly the same amount of time as you. Being outdoors is a good way to try and help get your mind off of it and you are solo so no one to be grumpy towards haha. Quite a nice area to hike brother!
This was so cool to hear about your will power and determination in overcoming something you don’t want to be part of your life anymore. Mad props. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was it was costing you up to $8 a day! Keep it up, man! Also, what kind of drone do you use?
I smoked cigs from 14 years old to 28. Terrible habit. I thought I was cool smoking when I was a kid, but then I was hooked. I used the patch to help stop smoking. Plus a bunch of Weed!! 😂😂😂. But mine wasn’t CBD 😂😂. CBD wasn’t even around 20 years ago. I’m wishing you the best of luck to stop smoking. I hope the CBD helps out. Beautiful spot by the water Buckly. As always I love your background music choices. I’m wishing you the best of luck on stopping smoking. YOU GOT THIS 👊🏻
Thanks Jason!! There may be certain situations where the CBD isn't what I'm using either. 😉 The CBD helps for sure but the real stuff might work even better!!
Great video man! I love the drone footage! I have 6 siblings and I'm the only one who hasn't been addicted to cigarettes', I consider myself lucky that I never started. I channeled my addictive behavior into musical instruments and photography. Find something to replace the cig in your hand. My brother started with nicotine gum and then went to regular gum. My one sister quit cold turkey after a heart attack. You can do it!
oh man, great job on the stopping of smoking! i've been using the nicotine pouches to 'dip' called "On". Much much better than tobacco. Dude, for real, very proud of you. Keep it up man, you can do it!
Great timing Tim, Intrigued to see how you get on with your toxic relationship, good luck!.....great to see the start of the Mississippi, wow, it sure was fresh and clear compared to what you'd find in other sections! Hahhaha yuk, disgusting nature 😆 was that a cranky moment? Hope you are doing well with the quiting, dont quit quitting! Great to hear about the animals in that area too, and how you know what you could potentially meet and how you'd deal with it. Did you actually see anything other than 🐺💩? Addiction is the worst, shout if ever you need anything, FB or insta, Ceri and Kat ❤☕👍 p.s loved the editing, drone footage, and bits to camera, getting better and better with every video. Dude shoes! My favorite! Glad to see you like the PR still lol. True story I haven't eaten that one because I don't like mushroom's! LOL How to you like Jetboil Stash? Excellent video man! Kick Smoking's A**!
Thanks Taylor!! Dudes are my jam too. Probably wore about 4 pairs bald. Haha. I don't like mushrooms either but they aren't noticeable in the stroganoff! PR is the SHIT for real man. 5 days, no smoking (cigarettes anyway 😉).
Oh, and the Stash is pretty sweet. I got it as a gift but I probably wouldn't pay that much for it. I'll probably still use the Pocket Rocket as my stove for longer trips.
I love it so much. It is so beautiful like upper Peninsula Michigan. Actually we saw fresh coyote 💩 on the way out hike from NCT. I could tell we were in deeper Forest. Hope you can stay away from smoking, and I see your commitment to quitting telling us about it 😊 never give up🤞
Hang in there Tim. The thing to keep in mind with Cigarettes is you're trading temporary pleasure in that moment for permanent damage down the road. Keep you're eye on what's down trail and you'll be all good.
I quit around 12 years ago and used champix tablets, I was on around 40 a day at the time.. you got this man!! Best of luck! It’s not easy but you sound like you have made the decision so you will meet your goal I’m sure 👍
So two years ago? Did you shake the monkey off your back? I eventually quit the menthol cigs over 13 years ago. It took a triple bypass 1 month prior to my easter weekend operation that was all the incentive I needed. 36 years of those damn things. I see now my brand is around $10.00 a pack. Oh boy I was younger and naive.
I am unfortunately a failure in this quest. It's a crippling addiction and I'm sad to say I still smoke, although far less than I used to. I have high hopes of quitting on another trip this year! Thanks for your support my friend!
Actually Tim you don't need any help if you are truly ready to quit. It happened to me at 27 when I came to the realization that I really didn't like to smoke. So why was I doing it? I was a full grown man and didn't need no one to authorize me to quit. My family laughed and said it wouldn't last a week. Sorry to disappoint them but now at 80 I can see what a nasty and expensive habit it was. Really not a big deal unless you make it one. You don't need gum, patches or CBD that's just changing the same habit. JUST QUIT AND STOP TALKING ABOUT IT! You need the GSI Infinity mug that has the gradation marks on it. Lol
Thanks John!! Im a little different in the fact that I admit I LIKE to smoke. 🤣 I'm a little weird maybe but the CBD helped and it isnt addictive like nicotine and I sure as hell wouldn't smoke 20 joints of CBD a day!

Thanks my friend!! It was MY WAY of quitting so I dont promote it for everyone but it has worked for me so far! Lol.
This was so cool to hear about your will power and determination in overcoming something you don’t want to be part of your life anymore. Mad props. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was it was costing you up to $8 a day! Keep it up, man!
Also, what kind of drone do you use?
Thanks so much!! I use a DJI Mini2. It is small and light and awesome!! 😀
@@BackpackingwithBuckley 😁😁
Great video man! I love the drone footage! I have 6 siblings and I'm the only one who hasn't been addicted to cigarettes', I consider myself lucky that I never started. I channeled my addictive behavior into musical instruments and photography. Find something to replace the cig in your hand. My brother started with nicotine gum and then went to regular gum. My one sister quit cold turkey after a heart attack. You can do it!
Thanks for the encouragement Tomas!! It will be worth it if I succeed!
Wow, good luck. You can do it! :)
Thanks so much for the encouragement!
@@BackpackingwithBuckley :)
I been at those headwaters. Beautiful place. Good for you to as you push forward and away for cigarettes. Sounds like O’Doul’s of the weed world.🤣
That's EXACTLY what it is (Odouls). 😀 That's another habit I quit so I'm all too familiar with Odouls!! Thanks for watching!
oh man, great job on the stopping of smoking! i've been using the nicotine pouches to 'dip' called "On". Much much better than tobacco. Dude, for real, very proud of you. Keep it up man, you can do it!
Thanks Mat!!
@@BackpackingwithBuckley Most welcome!
hey man great video. Really could use some advice about Minnesota dispersed camping.
Feel free to email me at 76buckley@gmail.com or friend me on FB at Tim Buck. I know a little about a lot!!
You got this buddy 👍. Besides that with your new found love of peak refuel meals you'll need to save money for that new addiction 😆
Thanks Jason!! Peak Refuel is actually speedier that smoking! 😀
Addiction is the worst, shout if ever you need anything, FB or insta, Ceri and Kat ❤☕👍
p.s loved the editing, drone footage, and bits to camera, getting better and better with every video. Keep busy and stay well 🤜🤛🌈🦄
Thanks for the kind words as always!! I am doing well so far and much of my success is thanks to supportive friends and family! Hiking will be much easier if I kick the habit!
I didn't see any animals other than ducks, birds , and squirrels. I didn't even see another human after I hiked in. It was a strange trip that way.
@@BackpackingwithBuckley Awesome! I've thought about getting it for overnight trips but your right that price has stopped me.
@@SouthernHike the measurements suck on the pot and it isn't lighter than a Toaks pot and a pocket rocket.
I love it so much. It is so beautiful like upper Peninsula Michigan. Actually we saw fresh coyote 💩 on the way out hike from NCT. I could tell we were in deeper Forest. Hope you can stay away from smoking, and I see your commitment to quitting telling us about it 😊 never give up🤞
Thanks Ssooni. So far so good!!
Really love the way you recorded. Thumbs up from a fellow creator 😅
Thanks bud!
Dude, the pan effects are killer! Is that new? I love it and I want it :)
Lucky experiments bud!
Hang in there Tim. The thing to keep in mind with Cigarettes is you're trading temporary pleasure in that moment for permanent damage down the road. Keep you're eye on what's down trail and you'll be all good.
Thanks Aaron!! I want to be around long enough to hike with you when I'm 90 and your 80!! Hahaha
@@BackpackingwithBuckley Sounds good, I'll pencil you in for July 20th 2075. It's a Saturday. 😁
@@SignalOutdoors perfect!!
I quit around 12 years ago and used champix tablets, I was on around 40 a day at the time.. you got this man!! Best of luck! It’s not easy but you sound like you have made the decision so you will meet your goal I’m sure 👍
So far, so good buddy!! The CBD helps too and isn't as bad for me.
hello you nice🌷thank 🎁
Cough if up, brother.
Good Ole doobies!!
Good Luck in giving up your habit of smoking.
Thanks Tim!!
Curious.. Did you kick the habit for good?
Sadly, no. I smoke far less but it is an intense addiction.
@@BackpackingwithBuckley i feel ya! ❤️
@@BackpackingwithBuckley I knew you would give it a good try. ATB. I'm surprised you didn't get upset with me.
I'd never get upset with you John. You always have my best interests in mind!
@@BackpackingwithBuckley I really do have your best interest in mind. What happen to Cody & Molly, haven't heard from them lately?
