@@AdamOmidpanahOne of the saddest truths of life, even if you have a great teacher, and you follow the instructions perfectly, sometimes it just doesn't work. Props to you for not lashing out and blaming the video. The good news is, on this case (as I'm sure you already have) you can unspool the bar tape, rewind the video to 0:00, and try again. Even if you did it correctly the first time, can't hurt to give it another shot. This time, who knows. Maybe it lasts years.

You know, I've been wrapping bar tape since Lemond and Fignon were hammering each other up Alpine cols so I thought I pretty well knew "everything there is to know" about this fairly mundane maintenance procedure. I must say this was the masterclass of bar - wrapping and the insider's tip of "tack welding" the finishing tape just about bowled me over. Superb.

Well done, sir. I've seen bars wrapped with the reverse direction technique, but I never knew there was a reason. Another reason not to use the figure 8 technique is that tape manufacturers aren't always particularly generous and you can get to the end and find your tape is too short.

Excellent video. The only trick I would add is to use some of that strapping tape where the finishing tape goes as the first layer. Just two times around. It's very thin, but it holds tension much better and does not slowly unravel like black tape (or mfg provided finishing tape) does when it is put under tension. Then just cover the tight strapping tape with black tape but use zero tension. That way it does not slowly creep and expose the adhesive that all of us hate. Makes the tack welding spoke trick unnecessary, cool as it is.

Nice job. For years I've put up with crappy wrap jobs - my own AND others. The key takeaway on this is to wrap the upper bar in the opposite direction from the lower. Since I ride on the top, or hoods, almost all the time, my wraps just don't last. Thanks!

First time taping my handlebars. After I watched your video, I watched a couple other just to look for some extra tid-bits and such. Yours was by far the best video of them all and gave me everything I needed to know to get a perfect wrap. Thanks!

Excellent instructions! The new tape I put on both my drop and aero bars looks pretty good! I'll add one thing. I used a bit of this stuff called Tommy Tape for finishing. It's a self fusing adhesive strip that doesn't get gummy over time.

Best video on wrapping handlebars. All other videos I have seen so far wrap into the wrong direction on the upper part of the handlebar.

Great video!!! I've watched this video before each time I wrap my handlebars for like 3 years and because I ride at least 6 days a week I wear the tape out fast so I change my tape about every 3 months. I can't perfect as Calvin does but at least I can do it pretty darn well!! Thanks, Park Tools and Calvin for the making of all your videos!!!

my thoughts exactly! How amazing it is when you get a calm, experienced enthusiast who properly planned out the video, and used precisely the right number of words- not too many such that the viewer is annoyed, not too few such that the viewer's time is fruitless. (I note that this comment fails to meet the standard as the video- luckily there's a small chance @Darkness Eternal sees this, so I'm OK with being less articulate than Mr. Calvin Jones).
