I had horses myself. Had 3 mares and one gelding. There definitely is a hierarchy. At least in my little herd. The absolute alpha female was my eldest quarter horse. Had her the longest. Whiskey lived 34 years. Exerted her reign until the day she passed. The others 11 yr old quarter horse gelding, Finn. Then 12year quarter horse mare, Jasmine. Bringing up the rear was the youngest, Belle. A 3 year old Arabian. The gelding and Jasmine jockeyed for # 2. Never challenged Whiskey. Belle was content being #4. She seemed to have the attitude…..I’m too pretty to get in fights. Seem to get along with the others. Would get a little snarky once in a while the others. But it was Whiskey who did the discipline when necessary.
Peeing over someone's manure seems to me like the equivalent of arguing by writing letters, only more subtle 😏. I love your herd hierarchy lessons, especially the fact that it's possible to be an "outside line" like June! ❤❤❤
Horses are somewhat like doggies. I see lots of similarities when it comes to marking. My dog's neutered but constantly has the urge to pee exactly where another dog had, sometimes it's barely a drop but he marks. When watching horses becoming aware of "danger" their ears are just like digs "readable" to me. Yes, I learned the ear movement from you, but again they, dogs & horses, have lots of behaviors in common. Can't wait for the next lesson❣❣❣
Amazing how they never forget! Jaxx isn't going to let any kids push him around...it's kind of a passive/aggressive approach to taking of business. Humans could learn a few lessons from this more 'civilized' method of attaining power. Good on you, Jaxx 😉

I love that your mare held her spot at the top of the herd. So smart!
I love learning new things about animal behavior!
Me too! I could watch them all day!

😂 arguing via letter 😂
It is safer than fighting
@@lonesparrowfor sure
Reminds me of some people I used to work with 😆🤣😆
@sleepinglioness5754 😂😂😂
So fascinating!
Horses are so interesting. I could observe them all day! =]
Thank you for the great educational video!! ❤
My pleasure. Thank you for watching.
I think Jaxx is trying to push Queenie back down the totem pole and regain his position!
I think so too. Jaxx is not giving up that easily is he?
@ no! His wisdom and experience tells him to hold onto what he’s got! Humans could learn so much from horses!
Jax don't let her get away with this crap!
Jaxx seems to have a plan...

I was thinking the same thing! 😊🐴🐕❤️
This is so true! Even though horses are prey animals an dogs are predators they have such similar behaviors.
like a weird game of chess.
It definitely is!

Right?! Jaxx is playing it so smart. If there's one thing I know for sure, none of them will catch Jaxx. He is so incredibly fast!
I've seen this horse named Quinn do this to my horse princess manure
Ah! There must be an question of which rank your horse and Quinn hold.
@Americandreamfarm Quinn is the Alfa horse and princess is the one that is at the end of the heard
I don't find this "shocking" at all. I figured this out when I was a kid. It's just one-upmanahip. Dogs...and I'm sure others...do this, too.
