The Fridays actually are not paint grit. They are sandblasted. Paint grit is additive, but the sand blast method is subtractive, it eats away at the surface rather than adding little bumps.
Hey guys want to say I appreciate the work done to help folks with cancer. My mom passed 3 months ago from complications of cancer and brain degeneration. It's absolutely a communal effort to help those in need. Keep doing what you're doing!
Love the content and how the show is progressing! One small detail, you mentioned the Vatic Prism Flash, but the paddle you showed was the Vatic Prism V7. Both great paddles!
I have a friend who is very fond of HUDEF Mage Pro. I have a HUDEF Mage Pro Gen2. It performance very well and really likes its sweet spot. The spin is pretty good. It's a best budget paddle.
Don’t sleep on the Carbon Pickle Pro Series paddles, would love to see a review on these from you. I am loving mine, and picked this up new for $80 during Amazon Prime Days (normally $99). Excellent episode, keep up the great work guys!
I play with the stock Apollo at my 3.5 level and love the control/feel. Enough pop for me at this level. Also bought SpinDna’s paddle (his first red release) and it has a great feel as well with a little more power. Played some singles matches with it and it feels solid. At $50 especially a solid bargain. I think it still has value at 90 as well.
Started with a Friday Paddle…just went to a Neonic Force and luv it….might pick up of a Volair Mach 2 Forza to check out the spin and control…lots of paddle choices it makes my head spin
Agree on disappointment - tend to do really well with low power paddles, but even with weight the quartz, I couldn’t get proper power on the ball and I’m high power
I think it's worth mentioning Hudef's other paddles under $120, Hudef Viva Pro Gen 3 (Elongated Kevlar Power Paddle) and the newer version of the Mage, the Mage Pro Gen 2. Not very control centric, but great all court/power options below $120 + the Mage Pro Gen 2 is VERY poppy and has a 7+ twist weight in a hybrid shape which is super rare. Idk! Still in that same Apollo/Jelly Bean group on pricing above $100..
Guys, it is important to have a paddle that helps the beginner learn how to play the game correctly: Dinking, Resets, have a faster movement in the hand. The Quartz is designed to get one into the game, which is what it does.
This is true but there are also paddles in the same price range that do just that and will take you further in the game. The quartz is a great looking paddle and is better than a lot of paddles we are seeing people start with though.
Yes Ben did play with CP at Nationals when they lost to Riley and ALW. You could argue there are a handful of the top MD guys that could replace Riley to get the same result.
@@cmaden if you sign up for their email they will send 15 percent coupon. I tried to do that but was told it was told it would. Or be in for 3 week. They are back in now.
Golf is the same way. You are paying extra for the Name and for Advertising! Like Taylormade, Titleist, Etc. But you can buy smaller direct to consumer companies and pay a third of the price and get just as good of clubs.
My first paddle was the holbrook Mav Pro at $99 and also the Aiso pickleball paddle, have you guys heard or tried those before? The reason why two was that I gave one to my father and the other to my sister so they would have to buy one. Lol
The Garye Pro XL puts all of these to shame in terms of value. The only thing is no warranty, but otherwise it's every bit as good as a $150-200 paddle, but only $50 on Amazon. I was actually surprised at the low swing weight given its elongated shape.
A forgiving paddle is a paddle with a bigger sweet spot or has more energy return around the edges of the paddle. An unforgiving paddle has a tight sweet spot and the ball dies more around the edges.
I'm looking for an under $150 low swingweight thermoformed paddle that isn't so poppy I can't control it. Was thinking of the 16mm Vatic Pro flash but it feels too close to my Prism v7 and I'm scared I wont be able to control the 14mm. Any suggestions? Or do I jsut go for the 14 ?
Vatic has pros, 11six24 I think has some qualifiers level pros. I think when you are budget you have a lot less market spend so pros probably aren’t in the cards for some of these guys unless that pro just wants gear
The small to mid size companies making paddles remind me of microbrands in watchmaking. You get much more for your money but wont have the name recognition. All depends whats important to you as a consumer.
Update. I like the spindna. It reminded me of my j2k. Seems to have more pop and less control. I added weight and an overgrip. It is my favorite budget paddle.
I hate the idea that athletes need to be entertainers. I think they need to try, but not to entertain the crowd. The PPA/MLP has put THEMSELVES in a position where the players have to entertain so that they can make money. The pickleball product is PPA/APP where the best players and amateurs get a chance to play and compete.
But the fact is the entertainment is what brings the money. It’s like when we started to see the juicing era in baseball. Everyone started tuning in to watch Mark McGuire smoke home runs. Need a viewership to bring the cash
Athletes are indeed entertainers. The whole sports industry falls under the umbrella of the entertainment industry because of the classification of what sports are. While the level of competition these athletes are playing at is truly elite, the concept of it is practically no different than seeing a play or movie. Athletes are considered entertainers because the audience or crowd is paying to see these athletes play. The athletes themselves may not care to view it that way and focus on playing the sport itself and that would be totally fine but the point is that people are buying tickets to see these games, and the money generated is how these athletes are paid.
Ben and Collin are feeling irrelevant, and all eyes are no longer on them. Can’t see how this will help their case or cause. With team pickleball gaining in popularity, more are tuning in to see teams compete than individuals. Tough pill for them to swallow and they are finding out about how team sports work, it’s not all about one individual.
I just recently watched mlp and I think there’s more validity and true skill being shown in PPA. I’ve played video games all my life, and the people who can win solo games can do better than people who always play team games. I think if you’re learning mechanics, and game sense, watch PPA but if you want to learn how to play with new partners or differing partners, watch mlp
The Fridays actually are not paint grit. They are sandblasted. Paint grit is additive, but the sand blast method is subtractive, it eats away at the surface rather than adding little bumps.
Oh wow that’s pretty unique

Thanks for the comment and encouragement. I’m sorry to hear about your mom, sending thoughts and love your way.
This type of podcast needs to happen about every month or two. So much is coming out fast.
Love the content and how the show is progressing! One small detail, you mentioned the Vatic Prism Flash, but the paddle you showed was the Vatic Prism V7. Both great paddles!
That was my bad. We sell the flash in our proshop so it was on the mind. Both incredible paddles in the budget category
@@DinkSmashMedia agreed! Keep up the good work!
I really like my neonic force, it's my first paddle and I love it. Smaller sweet spot but I like the pop and the swing weight is great

I like the others we tested over the original Mage Pro but I’ll be trying out the Gen 2s soon

Love mine as well. Exact same as the Selkirk Luxx S2
Great podcast. HUDEF Mage Pro Gen2 is the best value paddle for me. It's a blend of T700 raw carbon fiber and Kevlar. Only $119. Totally love it.
I just got this recently and plan on trying them soon.

Great podcast as usual. My best power paddle is Hudef Viva Pro Gen3. And the customer service is good.
You both had really good takes on the CJ complaints.
This was EXCELLENT. Thank you! Well done
Appreciate that! Glad you got some value from it .
Agree on disappointment - tend to do really well with low power paddles, but even with weight the quartz, I couldn’t get proper power on the ball and I’m high power
Yeah for me I just had to put more on it just to go over the net than I would want to.
Great review. Vatic prism v7 would be another good option but elongated.
I agree, the whole Prism series is good.
11Six24 Jellybean is insanely good for $90. Any type of player could pick that thing up and be totally happy with it.
100%, I hope it keeps getting attention because it deserves it.
I just picked up a blemished jellybean for $70. It’s crazy how good it is
More Jelly Bean shapes on the way!
👀
A hybrid jelly bean. That would be awesome.

I need to try the mage gen 2s out.
The XSPAK paddle from Amazon are pretty good paddles for 100 dollar range.
No warranty. It used to be the king of value until paddles like the Vatic Prism popped up.

I bet you’re right. Probably JW, James, or Wilson. Wilson and ALW would be wild
@@pickleballeffect You could even add Staksrud and Patriquin. ALW is that much better than any other female pro.
Neonic has the Flow but it’s a few dollars more.
I thought the Flow after discount was similar in price to the Apollo, so it probably could have been in this comparison.

J2H is a budget power paddle for sale at $99. On par with the black diamond
Yes, Honolulu Pickleball's J2H and J2 are not talked about due to the buzz over the J2K but they are are great paddles for good prices at the moment.
Since paddles wear out budget is the way to go. Just my opinion.
Definitely some truth to that.

Any time stamps?
I fixed it, thanks do the call out.
What is the link for the spindna paddle? I can’t find it either…
It’s in the show notes 😂

What's the meaning for forgiving sweetspot?
A forgiving paddle is a paddle with a bigger sweet spot or has more energy return around the edges of the paddle. An unforgiving paddle has a tight sweet spot and the ball dies more around the edges.

How much do the top 10/20 players get for their paddle sponsorships? How about the mid tier players?
I don’t know the details on that :/
CJ wants to play in the Olympics where teams are all the best players. How does he think he would be on that team.
Surprised the J2K didn't make it in here
When will some of these small companies sign a pro and get their paddle on the podium?

I figured it might be like that in other industries. You just have to know what you’re looking for and be into without the name recognition.
Just ordered a spindna off eBay for $60.
Update. I like the spindna. It reminded me of my j2k. Seems to have more pop and less control. I added weight and an overgrip. It is my favorite budget paddle.
Jojolemon shark is a great paddle under 100 dollars.
I bought one from Temu for $30, but I think the face is graphite not carbon fiber weave
Jojolemon shark? I’ll have to google that 😂 sounds like something my kids would as for
