Absolutely! I took my July 2015 vacation in Colorado. I stayed with a friend of mine in Castle Rock, also visited Rocky Mountain National Park, and drove to the summit of Pikes Peak. I wouldn't mind living in Castle Rock, but moving is so expensive.
Oh wow. For such an uneven track, it certainly flies along. It takes that steep mountain gradient in it's stride. Such a beautiful line. I am adding it to my bucket list.
Briefly past 4:53, it's like we are looking at a model train layout then that beautiful sound brings you back to reality. Only the WW&F up a grade makes me think of it.
Just what is it about these old trains that has taken over my life and home.Is it the sounds, the scenery, the history, the look of the incredible engines, the caboose, the crew or is it the childhood memory of the old western films such as "The General,Go west" and of course "Casey Jones" the children's TV series. Now you can't move in my house for train sets, still in their boxes.Retire in about sixteen months, then comes the garden railroad.Rocky mountain style of course and I'm a brit.
The owner said he let Mick Jagger "drive" this engine and nearly couldn't get him out of the cab he was having so much fun. He advised any steam locomotive owner to be wary of offering Jagger the right seat.
In America the term "Driving" in incorrect in America. It's important to stress the fact that the term "driving" is incorrect. the Engineer "operates" the train is correct
Thanks for this demo vid of how period gear ran when the Denver & Rio Grande still owned the Durango-Silverton section; I figured the fireman was stoking the well-worn Baldwin at one moment when the smoke got light, then heavy on the 2.5% grade north of Needleton.
Beautiful song coming out the stack, too. That chuffing is amazing, bugs me when these guys running historic steam locos lean on the whistle like they're trying to play a song on it when the real song's coming out of the stack the entire time the thing's running.
Albert Bolink - Hengelo Ov.
Im french, we have lot of good locomotives in our history but, this train is the most beautifull train in the whole world ! Keep this preciously american cousins !!!!
this train has the same whistle as the Calumet & Hecla Mining Co. torch lake - Train which runs around the circumference of Greenfield Village Dearborn MI
The D&S does not own this. The Eureka & Palisades #4 is owned by Dan Markoff from Las Vegas, NV. and usually runs on the D&S once a year as a guest locomotive (Usually at Railfest).
Is this the same railroad that's featured in the John Wayne movie "The Sons of Katie Elder"?, cause if it is then it's a very awe-inspiring piece of railroad building.
That is fly ash when the fire burns it throws smoke out right well the smoke moves so fast it picks up as and throws it out this mostly happens on wood burning trains and stoves hope this helped you under stand what it was
This literally looks like one of those trainsets you out under the christmas tree. The ones that blow out the little smoke. Its so surreal and mind blowing to see this in actual size, like a toy come to life.
Blows my mind still you can make an vehicle that can run on burning... almost anything with enough energy density. I think I'm seeing firewood being carried, not coal.
Ronald Stephens I have noticed that if you're burning right, the smoke will be burned up and you won't see anything; if you understand what I'm saying.
Now available on DVD and Blu-ray. Please visit steamtrainvideos.com/order3.html#durango to order.
Colorado is beautiful and so are these old trains. I love it.

What a beautifully crafted video, no irritating music, nothing there that shouldn't be, everything that should. Just superb. 😀
Oh wow. For such an uneven track, it certainly flies along. It takes that steep mountain gradient in it's stride. Such a beautiful line. I am adding it to my bucket list.
Beautiful! Hard to believe most engines were this way at one time.
Briefly past 4:53, it's like we are looking at a model train layout then that beautiful sound brings you back to reality. Only the WW&F up a grade makes me think of it.
Love those 'ol Old West stuff! :-) @4:37 What a spectaculary view / scenery!!! AWESOME
The whistle of this locomotive sounds so beautiful!
She's a tenor!
Yes

The more you know...
Ilove trains it.s nice vidéo iam SNTF from algeria

This is the fastest 4-4-0 video I've seen!
Fabulous! Takes your breathe away! And to think it was all this way once upon a time!
Great camera work too!
That's one FINE little locomotive, and the Eureka ROCKS - that's all I can say!
Ilove trains it.s nice vidéo iam SNTF from algeria
Watching something as decent and innovative as this can really put you on a invigorating level of what the world of trains can be.
Beautiful locomotive! It's whistle sounds like something from the past. Thanks for sharing your video!

...when I was young I wanted a ride on a fighter airplane... now I want a ride on a wood burning steam train... Thanks for "the ride" !
Wonderful pictures of the past - I love these fine restored, old engines!
I have linked it on my website.

HELLO CAN I COME MY FAMILY AND TAKE A RIDE I LIVE IN LAKE ISABELLA CA.....
Beautiful song coming out the stack, too. That chuffing is amazing, bugs me when these guys running historic steam locos lean on the whistle like they're trying to play a song on it when the real song's coming out of the stack the entire time the thing's running.
I agree.
From Chile I say: greetings. Very nice video Thanks for the job !
A beautiful rail adventure, capturing the allure of historic railroading!

WOW.......An early wood burner in the Rockies... great ! :)
It's narrow gauge (3-foot gauge), but still technically full scale as it's not a model or scaled down from something larger.
Lovely steam engine. Nice colour. Superb video and information. Beautiful scenery of hills and landscape.
That locomotive is beautiful!!!!!!
That was absolutely beautiful!
i love that black and gold color scheme on the 4-4-0!
Mighty fine effort! Nice to see the Eureka operating again.
very nice, a true wood berner,,,thanks for shering.
Nice video, awesome scenery!
wow, what a fine old machine!
Magnificent piece of still working history right here.

Beautiful engine, love wood burners.
How beautiful! It does not contaminate the environment because it releases water vapor
The most beautiful locomotive and train that i have seen all over my life ! We haven't this in our sad europe... snif
I just love these trains, the real work horse of America ✌❤
From the 4:50 mark on it looks like you're looking down at a model train layout.
Anything's a model if you think big enough.
Wow, that footage was great and well put together, another fine video on my favorite railroad.
Superb! What a magnificent engine!
what a beautiful train
Welcome 2 the Wild West.
Wonderful movies with this romantic steamlocomotive !
Thanks for positing.
Too bad TH-cam can't pick up the muffled rumble of the boiler... That's a really unique sound.
me encantó este video , soy amante de los ferrocarriles y mas de los anteriores,,,FELICIDADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stunning footage my Friend, LOVED it 👍😎🚂
This reminds me of .The little engine that could! I wish I was having a ride!

I love Colorado
I absolutely love the sound of Eureka Baldwin hooter steam whistles 😀😀👌👌
Simply fantastic !
That is totally awesome, very good job on video.
Muito linda essa locomotiva, a chaminé em formato de diamante, deu um charme á mais.
this train has the same whistle as the Calumet & Hecla Mining Co. torch lake - Train which runs around the circumference of Greenfield Village Dearborn MI
I ❤ those old steam engines. I think it was the 1960s when steam engines phased out & then more diesel & electric engines took their places.
Wow, you can even see all the soot coming from the smoke over head!
best video ever
Can't wait to have her here at Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR in August!
Doesn’t this engine sit in some guys garage when it isn’t being used?
Beautiful engine
Dang, but she's a purdy little thang. Never saw one of those real old timers in my recollection, but sure do live the bloodline.

Steam Train - Great vid and great scenery to. What year was this engine made?
What the Boilermaker Special was fashioned after! Boiler Up!
Why does people hate this awesome video
great catch james!
Embers from the wood fire, and boy do they burn when they land on you!
The clarity on some of those scenes was so clear it was as though I could reach through my laptop and touch the passenger car.
When did they get a 440? I just thought they had the mikados. Any way makes me feel like I'm back in the 1860's.
The D&S does not own this. The Eureka & Palisades #4 is owned by Dan Markoff from Las Vegas, NV. and usually runs on the D&S once a year as a guest locomotive (Usually at Railfest).

Delightful. Shared this on Fbook.
I want to make it out there someday soon.
Anyone know how the 2o13 inspection went that was mentioned in the description?
Where is the time machine ?
2012.... soon that is 10 years ago.... in that time our world did change quit a lot & will never be the same anymore...
Is that a full scale 4-4-0? It seems so tiny!
How many Horsepower this locomotive has? Thanks
did you know that there is a Trainz model of Eureka&Palisade #4?
its chimny smoke looks so clean, i see that wood diet helps alot
I think I can, I think I can,I think I can. I know I can, I know I can. Lol
Good reference
Hehehe
Tks to upload this vídeo, i live so far from,,,,in BRAZIL, and don't have a chance to see by myself!!!
Love it!!
Very nice!
Was this originally a.standard gauge locomotive? For some reason I thought all these Eureka , Jupiter type locomotives were.
Many locomotives were re-tooled for the narrow gauge. The Baldwin 4-4-0, the Mogul, or the Mason Boogie, are just some examples.
Now THAT is a real train!
I REMEBER IT HARD TO BOARD,EVEN THOW IT,S SMALL LOST MY PISTOL,CINDERS IN THE EYES,JUST A BAD DAY FORTRYING SOMETHING NEW! :)
This literally looks like one of those trainsets you out under the christmas tree. The ones that blow out the little smoke. Its so surreal and mind blowing to see this in actual size, like a toy come to life.
Ein herrlich schoenes Stueck der Technik!
Sie darf nicht mehr Dampfen?
Spettacolare !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it was built back in the 19 century.
for the record it was built in 1875.
1874*
That was cool! My Accucraft and Bachmann large scale models look just the same.

I guess i'm just use to seeing 4-4-0's like the leviathan and the Jupiter.
Blows my mind still you can make an vehicle that can run on burning... almost anything with enough energy density.
I think I'm seeing firewood being carried, not coal.
Does it really run on wood? I would think you would see lots more black smoke?
Ronald Stephens I have noticed that if you're burning right, the smoke will be burned up and you won't see anything; if you understand what I'm saying.
i used to have this
Do my eyes deceive me, but I had thought these locomotives where much larger in size!
Woot, I turned this on when they were only 4 views lol!
Person at 2:19 brilliant .. She was using the trains traffic for free marketing for whatever she was selling. maybe that car. lol... Ha
