God, the thing I absolutely adore about these 1800's locomotive was that they always kept them so CLEAN! Then again, these engines were sort of the poster children for the railroads they worked on. Great video!
They made it as far as they can, station sign Hyde marks the end of the line the NCR currently has trackage rights on. Beyond that, into York City, is Genesee & Wyoming trackage. York Railway.
Fantastic video, beautifully filmed despite the rain. Simply phenomenal the 4-4-0 American, a great Oltdiner steam locomotive. Thank you for showing me.
That is wheelslip. You can hear at 5:44 the chuff is slower, then close to 5:45 York loses her grip on the rail and the slip begins, the chuff excellerates instantly, and the wheel slip audibly continies till shortly after York passes the photo line.
Actually this is shot in 2022. In addition to producing documentsries and railfan films, we specialize in recreating eras on the railroad with lighting, props, actors, and the trains and locomotives all coordinated by our team to replicate long gone scenes of ralroading how it used to be. Last week we recreated 1955 on the 3-foot gauge East Broad Top Railroad for a group of about 30 railfans, photgraphers, and cinematographers.
Outstanding work! To me the rain adds to it. Alot of time people try and get the perfect weather shot. I love the rain here, really helps add to the shots.
Thank you. The rain can be a good thing, yes. While it made for a more difficult day operating the charter, it did add a certain dramatic effect to the footage.
It looks like you had a good run despite the weather. I especially like the night scenes. It's a nice little railroad. I would have signed up, but had a family function that weekend.
It was a good event, despite the weather. Between the canopies we set up for the photo line, and the very impressive show by the Northern Central, the rain was hardly a problem. Hopefully you'll be able to join us next time - we're sure there will be a next time.
Thank you! We try to take a relaxed but professional approach to our events. There are certainly more coming. And in time, more NCR events. All in time.
Fast. Not certain of an exact speed, somewhere about 25mph. People have long underestimated the speed and sound the York could produce. We hope this charter will dispell some of that.
@@DynamoProductions-trains I think the same can be said for any other mid-to-late 1800's steam locomotive in general. But then again, I think see why they wouldn't be able to go that fast nowadays (or at least for the original locomotives). It takes plenty of boiler pressure for them to travel up to that kind of speed, and if they tried to reach that amount of pressure on such an engine like the V&T's Inyo nowadays, it'd probably cause a lot more wear or damage faster and eventually render the locomotive no longer able to operate at all anymore (not unless you were to build the engine a new boiler, unless you'd rather keep the original to as to maintain its authenticity).
@@TKSP4449 Actually, the closer to top speed a steam engine runs, not including high speed engines, it uses less steam. The cylinders are moving faster so the inlet valves can't be open as long.
It's hard to believe how far the Iron Horse has come since these old locomotives first hit the high iron. Even the crazier and more advanced locos, such as the Big Boy and even diesels can claim heritage from the old 4-4-0s. 0_0
@@kristoffermangila It is based off the same blue prints, but with a number of cosmetic changes, and she burns oil. The engine is otherwise identical to the 119.
Thank you. Three of those shots are filmed right at a public road crossing. Two at private trail crossings. While we had takes of the private Xings without whistles, those shots are marked for use in a doc project for down the road.

They’ve sure come a long ways since 2013. Can’t wait to see what mores to come for the future for them.
Glad there running trains through the Howard tunnel. Now all they need to do is make it to York.

Stunningly beautiful! Thank you!

Beautiful footage. Thank you for posting this! Looking forward to future charters!

The rain makes it even better in my opinion. The atmosphere of this video is truly majestic.
Absolutely beautiful! Great job guy’s!
Thanks
Fantastic video! You have the best videos, great in every way!
Thank you, your kind words and continued viewership are appreciated!
5:56 Holly smokes! That’s some wheelslip!
I'm not sure that's wheelslip

I agree with you BMMEC6000
This is the best colourised film I have ever seen. It is like all of this was recently filmed, verses 150 years ago.

They didn't have movie cams in the 1860s.
I Never seen a classic 4-4-0 go that fast before. That’s awesome!

Awesome footage. Nice sound recordings. I love it
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Pure beauty, the rain actually enhances it. Reminds me of a dream I had when ai was a kid!
one of my top 5 locomotives to watch good video
Thank you. It's definitely one of the prettiest engines around.
@@DynamoProductions-trains i like any thing from a RODGERS design they were my favorite locomotive company
Just outstanding. I love the low pressure, saturated "wet" whistle sound.

Nice
The time and effort it must have took to build this is amazing 👍😊
Great railroad!
They have been great to work with over the years
Great video! I’d love to attend one of your photo charters someday. They seem more fun and calm compared to other charters.

Beautiful!!!!!!
Thanks!
Steam locomotives put on their best display in cold or damp conditions.
this is unbelievable that this was built in the 2013
2:30 how fast was York running that part? The stack talk surprisingly sounds like a 1900’s steam engine at speed.
Fast. Not certain of an exact speed, somewhere about 25mph. People have long underestimated the speed and sound the York could produce. We hope this charter will dispell some of that.

Will they ever build another station at Brillhart? It would be nice to do a trip the other direction, from Brillhart to New Freedom and back.
A depot still stands at Brillhart, so not likely. It is now a private residence.
@@DynamoProductions-trains It would be nice if the owner sold to NCR so they could restore it back to a station again
Im confused because this, steam trains and steam trains have the same thumbnail. Pretty much
It is the same engine after all.
👍
It's hard to say, but this may be the BEST video of a steam engine on the internet!!!! I've watched it 3 times I can't get enough. 😉🎉👍 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
Very glad you enjoyed it that much. We certainly put an extraordinary amount of time, planning, and money into this one.
Which American is "York" 17 based upon?
It’s a modified design of Central Pacific Jupiter and Leviathan, based off the UP 119s blue prints.
@@DynamoProductions-trains so in a way, its similar to the replicas at the Promontory Summit NHS?

Is this run by coal, too, because of the black turning white smoke?
Oilburner

Looks great, but 4 min into the vid and not one drive-by without a whistlegasm. I'd rather hear the engine... : ((

Do you know what the maintenance work the locomotive need to get it back into operation?
I think that info needs to come officially from NCRR. Hopefully they can get her back on tracks soon.@computerguy5001
@computerguy5001 From their website: it's getting its FRA inspection at Strasburg. Cost will be $300,000+. They are soliciting donations.
