The Preschool Course also works on color, number, coin and shape recognition and touches on sequencing and rhyming - so if they need help with any of those the preschool course would still be a good fit because then there will be some things that help boost their confidence as they work on the things they need to learn (whether it's the letters they know or some of the other concepts taught) and you can skip activities and lessons that don't draw their attention. My kiddo had mastered colors, numbers, and shapes before starting and still enjoyed it because there was stuff they did know how to do. If your kiddo has a good handle on all the other concepts and just needs to master a few more letter sounds then I would say you can skip the Preschool course. HOWEVER, I highly recommend using the letter matching cards in the back of the Kindergarten Prep book to practice the letters they don't know yet as you go along AND don't be afraid to pause the course book to just work on letter sounds. You can make up games to use the cards or even use videos such as Leapfrog Letter Factory. I hope this helps feel free to ask follow up questions! 💖
Love this!!! I’m debating between preschool and kprep for my 4 yr old…she knows her letters and their sounds, but struggles with blending sounds and fine motor skills. Do you think preschool would keep her interested? ⭐️🤩
That's a good question! My initial reaction was that if she's MASTERED letter recognition and sounds then skip it especially because there's letter review at the beginning of Kindergarten Prep. HOWEVER the Preschool Course also works on color, number, coin and shape recognition and touches on sequencing and rhyming - so if she needs help with any of those you may want to supplement with something if you choose to skip preschool. Particularly when it comes to know the amount that a number represents. She might enjoy the preschool course if she needs some of the other things it covers because there will be something that she can have confidence in while learning the other things (and you can skip activities and lessons that don't draw her attention). My kiddo had mastered colors, numbers, and shapes before starting and still enjoyed it because there was stuff she did know how to do. Blending two letter sounds will need to be mastered for Level K but blending beyond that will be worked on in Level K. For the fine mother skills I would bring in the KUMON books and the Doodles and Prewriting levels of handwriting. Plus whatever other activities you are happy to have her do during play time that build those. I hope this helps feel free to ask follow up questions! 💖
@@OnTheSamePageTogether thank you! This was perfect! We will start with preschool, I think having the confidence in the things she does know will help when working on the new things…blending, coins, fine motor stuff!
Yes exactly it's the perfect way to make this new school thing fun and exciting rather than discouraging 💖 yay you are so welcome, thank you for giving me the chance to help with your decision ❣️
What are your opinions for a child who knows most of their basic letter sounds? Would this still work or would the Kinder Prep be better?
