    Thanks for going to the trouble setting up this video, awesome dude👌🏻……..just in the process of starting fishing again so getting to the bottom of my pockets unfortunately, so I made my own rigmate, using a piece of wood for the base,1m ruler, drilled several holes and using rivets as pins, I’m able adjust the different lengths required for my hook lengths & overall rig lengths. To hold the spool, I slightly drilled the base and hammered in a 10mm flanged nut, which sits underneath the ruler, then using a threaded knob to hold/lock the spool in place. Looks very much home made, does exactly the same job n more, but only cost me £3.95 for the ruler, as I had everything thing else in my garage, result.

    Great video Joe on a great tool for helping making pole rigs, never seen the rigmate pro before until I watched one of your mor recent videos and have always made my rigs up using the the desk I make them on for the rig length and using my fingers to gauge the distance between the shots to get the shorting the same each time using more fingers for wider spread out shot and one finger if I want them closer together

    If your thinking about using pliers to put your shot on your line, type in mini long nose pliers on e bay

    They look very well designed, but I use a length of with MDF pre-primed white cladding about 5”
    wide. Pop rivet on one end to take line loop, marked with perm. marker all down in 1” increments to 16” then every 4” to 30” running up to a carriage bolt with to large washer to hold and tension the spool. Cost £0.00 made from scrap

    for rig length i use the count of winds on those exact 18cm winders.
    3 total winds per meter!!!!

    Great video Joe. Never thought about having a tiny gap where the bulk is.

    I so wished I had had the balls to develop my idea 28 years ago when I was doing my Car and product design degree at Coventry uni. I made a board basically the same as this and I still have the drawings etc at me moms in the attic. Unfortunately I joined the civil service as a stop gap but never returned to product design damn still have my prototype at home to this day. Thanks for sharing might go and get one as restarted match fishing this year cheers 🍻

    Seems great product but is there anyway of not measuring the line to say 3 or 4m if using whip etc

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d just make a mental note of how many ‘arm widths’ the whip was and measure the line off in the same way 👍🏻

    Presumably you tie your hook length on at the bank? What length would you use?

    I’m probably being dim, but if you’re wanting to fish at, say 4 foot depth, how come you set all your shots up exactly how you want them, but starting on the loop to the hook itself (say 8 inch max) and then pull off all the line ABOVE the float? Surely that means you’d have to slide the shot back up the line anyway, once you’ve found depth? Or do you just slide float all the way back up the line you pulled off and leave all the shot where you set it on the rigmate? Seems like a big gap between float and shot.

    Great stuff and easy to follow but when I get to the bank and tie my hook length on and bait up they are always too heavy shotted! Yes, I know I should simply put one less shot on but corn weighs more than maggot which weighs less than meat which weighs less that worm....cant you invent a magic float that just works with everything regardless of how many shots go on it :)

    • @Dr4g0nW00d
      @Dr4g0nW00d 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer is in the video he doesn't exactly shot the float shot it till there is 5 mm left of the black body with the weight of the hook and the hook bait it will be roughly okay also you can use a 2-liter cola bottle filled with water get some line rig it shot it put it in the bottle and she how the float sits in the water

  • @brianwelbourne9896
    @brianwelbourne9896 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Why don't they just mark the floats with the weight instead of 4x18. 4x14. etc. There are no 18 shot available!!!So confusing.

    • @stephenpyner4156
      @stephenpyner4156 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 4x18 float is about .75g in weight 4x16 is .5g, 4x14 is .4g and 4x12 is .3g
