Some things that are not mentioned that would help with your cost decision. You missed the stereo with sub and storage under back seats. Utility tracks in the bed. The off-road suspension, under body protection, upgraded leather interior. Tow package, down hill assist, locking rear differential.... any other truck with this stuff will cost you well over 40k. Remote start and more electronics are available aftermarket.
Loved the review, I went to Enterprise Car Sales today and bought a low mileage 2017 Nissan Pro 4X. This review helped me decide, so thank you! I paid in the $26,000 range.
locking rear diff and rockford fostgate brings it ti 4 stars and the ablity to go to the big city and be able to park aswell , people always forget that part, boston guy
Yeah its outdated but it's a solid truck with all the kinks worked out of it since its been around a loong time but to me I'd rather buy something that has been proven then something that looks better or new technology that's not reliable. It still competes with the new trucks so Nissan engineered it great in 2005 especially the engine it still has more torque than all the new V6's in the midsize truck market!
Good point. And I agree too, I'd much rather put my money into something I know is going to last, rather than take a risk on something "cool looking". Thanks for the great comment!
Great detailed review man! I'm glad to made this because I'm hoping to get one of these soon! It's my dream truck since it's small but tows plenty! I feel that $34,000 is a bit steep. However, I'm looking to get a 13-17 with between 20,000-50,000 miles for around 18k. Already found a few of the pro 4x for that price!😃 Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I have since learned that the Pro-4x is specifically set up for off-roading. I had no idea! So if you do buy one, please drive it around a bit and let me know what you think. And kudos to you for buying something slightly used. Very smart. I bet you'll save a ton of cash.
Wyatt's lawn service I found a 15 CC 4X4 V6 MANUAL 6spd. 15km paid 22k out the door Manual transmission hard2 find behind v6 in plain jane roll up window. Strong truck ,you will be Pleased with it.
100 Rental Cars haha I never got the notification for this comment man! Thanks though. I feel that buying new isn't the smartest option since as soon as it's driven off the lot it's drops in value. Plus if a car has 50k miles I should still be able to use it as a daily driver until close to 150k then look to sell😂👌
You're comparing an AWESOME mid-size to Silverado or F-150? It's an unbelievably awesome truck for $36,000 vs $55,000 to $70,000. Honestly, Chevy's are junk after 10 years. That Nissan will still be like new after 10 years. I think it deserves better reviews.
Yeah, sorry about that. A couple people have pointed this out. I think I wrote it down wrong when I was researching the Pro-4x. I can't edit the video once it's posted, so the best I can do is highlight your comment so others will see it. Thanks for taking the time to point this out, it's really helpful. Cheers.
F150 and Silverado are in a full sized class. In midsize the frontier and Tacoma are the best trucks out there, AND they are tougher and more reliable then garbage Ford and chevy
I've done a lot of research on trucks and Nissan Frontier is one of the best there is. It might look blah and it might not have all the bells and whistles on it but it has the best engine ever made, according to my research on it. Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma both have the best engine, they don't have that turbocharger crap in it that will ruined the engine. They say always look for the engine with natural aspiration fuel inject on it and stay away from turbo engines as they have short lifespan. Just thought I would share what I've learn on most feedbacks.
Well outside of the mistake on the horsepower number and missing the excellent stereo, Locking rear diff, skid plates and bed utility tracks, you did an excellent review. I personally believe that this is at least a solid 4 star truck, but you are the reviewer and I respect your opinion. I don't however think that comparing a $34,000 mid size Frontier to a $42,000 full size F-150 or Silverado is a fair comparison.
Just like your Nissan Frontier SV review. This review is excellent! I enjoy how your reviews are clear and covers most of what needs to be known about the car. Since you have driven both pro 4x and SV trim levels. Do you have any opinion on the audio quality of both trucks? Does the pro 4x have more speakers than the SV? I believe the SV trim includes six speakers I'm not sure about the Pro 4X. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words! Ooooh, to be honest I don't remember if the Pro 4x had a better sound system. I do recall the cabin noise being better on the Pro4x though, so at least there's that. Are you thinking of buying a Frontier? If you are, check out the Frontier reddit community. It's actually pretty active. And if I get a chance, I'll rent another Frontier and pay closer attention to the stereo system. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Cheers!
Yes I'm going to get the Frontier soon! I'm looking at the 2018 SV trim. I also checked out the midnight edition but feel that the SV is the best value for the money. I test drove the SV yesterday and loved how the truck felt on the road. You were dead on when you mentioned that it handled really well. The truck just felt solid and I really like the simplicity of the interior. Your review convinced me to go for this truck. Thank you!
One thing I liked was you showed the gages/speedometer while dusk/night driving, I’ve been looking at allot of video’s but nothing showing the color/layout of the lights for gages.
Thanks. I've actually stopped doing that in my more recent videos, but I'll add it back in. I appreciate you mentioning that. I do my best to try new things with each review, and I'm never really sure what's useful...until someone like yourself takes the time to leave a comment. So thanks!
I really like Nissan frontiers. Simple but effective. I'm leasing a '17 colorado and I can't wait to return to a frontier v6. Two things regarding your gloves. 1. Are you secretly a hand model??? 2. Are you preparing to commit a crime? Jk. Good review
Thanks Kevin. Yeah, at 30+ thousand dollars I think I'd put my money someplace else; however, someone just pointed out to me on Reddit that the Pro-4x is built for off-roading. I'm guessing it works pretty well in the mud. Man I wish I could have tried that out...
I didn't know Enterprise rented the PRO-4X trim... only the S and SV. It's an awesome truck though! :) BTW, you said 216 HP in the video, I know it's easy to get numbers mixed up in the world of cars, I think you meant 261 HP. No problem though, loved the review!!! :)
Yeah, from what I understand this is a pretty rare Enterprise truck. I mean, it's specifically set up for off-roading, so I don't think Enterprise is gonna want to have many of these. And thanks for pointing out my mistake on the horsepower. If I could, I'd edit the video to point that out. But I can't. So instead I'm just going to favorite your comment and stick a note in the description. Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know.
I really like my 2015 Frontier SV. You really get a lot of truck for the money with these, and they are a proven and reliable platform. The Pro-4X is a very capable machine off-road. The Pro-4X also has the Rockford Fosgate audio system which includes a sub woofer and tweeters in the dash and really sounds quite a bit better than the sound system in the SV. Is the Frontier due for some updates, oh yes. But that doesn't make it a bad truck, and honestly I like the rugged, no frills design for my truck. Think back to the early days of the Xterra, the slogan was "everything you need, and nothing you don't" that works for me here. My truck is for work first. Hopefully Nissan will do a US update based on the Navara soon, maybe 2020? That's a good looking truck. One thing I noticed about the newer Frontier is Nissan moved the usb/aux to the dash. On my '15 the usb port is in the center console, and I have two 12v power outlets on the dash. I prefer that layout better, since anything plugged into the USB can be left plugged in inside the console and its out of sight. I wonder why Nissan changed it?
I fear Nissan is becoming the Chrysler of 10 years ago so to speak... a large majority of their current models (Frontier included) are solely purchased by rental companies.
I know right? I think the issue is that their best cars are all large sedans. Like the Maxima, for example. And people just aren't buying sedans these days. Everyone wants an SUV, minivan, or hatchback. Me included. Great channel, btw. I'm watching your farewell video for the 2006 BMW 325ci right now. Good stuff!
Actually not true. Sales are up on the frontier. I see allot of Pro 4X's and that is the top trim. They may hit 100K sales this year. The VQ40 5 speed tune is the best setup in the segment. Lots of torque. Probalby the best ergonomic interior and much better seats then taco/Colorado. By far. Their shitty ones are their compacts with CVT transmissions that break down allot. The newer pathfinder is also a POS. But nothing wrong with the frontier. Its by far their best thing they sell. And the most reliable as well.
I know. Totally valid criticism. On my end, I rented this for work and I only had about 45 minutes to film the review. Not enough time to find a good place to test out the off road capability. Sorry about that. I hope you found some value in the things I was able to cover in this review.

That's amazing! And congratulations. I bet you'll love your new truck.
This truck is one if the best you can buy for off road!
locking rear diff and rockford fostgate brings it ti 4 stars and the ablity to go to the big city and be able to park aswell , people always forget that part, boston guy
that truck is so plain looking and I really want one :(
Yeah its outdated but it's a solid truck with all the kinks worked out of it since its been around a loong time but to me I'd rather buy something that has been proven then something that looks better or new technology that's not reliable. sandman 62 Nice man! You stole that one!
You skipped over the down hill assist by saying “some other options” and then talked about the sunglasses holder :(
I personally plated and registered this exact truck just a couple months ago! Glad to see it’s alive and well.
No way! How cool is that. What state do you work in? I'm just curious how far this truck traveled.
100 Rental Cars It was plated on 10/31/2017 in Saint Louis
Love my 2017 Frontier Pro-4x, buttons and all!
Good to hear! I think I love the SV trim level more, but that's me. Regardless, I think it's a great truck and a super reasonable price.
261 hp not 216

285 HP if you add a racing stripe.
Great review. Picking mine up today in the SV Trim.
F150 and Silverado are in a full sized class. In midsize the frontier and Tacoma are the best trucks out there, AND they are tougher and more reliable then garbage Ford and chevy
Strong opinions Old School. Love it! Which one do you own, cause you've got to post a review of it. I'll watch!

Also considering buying a Frontier from Enterprise. Have any had problems with the truck or purchase?

I'm glad it helped!
Great review, keep up the great channel 👍
Thanks Trenton!
I THOUGHT the NISSAN FRONTIER PRO 4X PUT OUT 261hp and 281 lb-ft. of torque.
My 2019 4.0 Frontier is rated at 263HP, 285 TRQ. I am sure that is like at 5k RPM's. Why is this one 216HP?
One thing I liked was you showed the gages/speedometer while dusk/night driving, I’ve been looking at allot of video’s but nothing showing the color/layout of the lights for gages.

100 Rental Cars no problem sir. 🙏
The white background on the gages are black at night, with amber lighting.
Great truck. Love it.
You may want to check out the reliability of the vehicle as well.
Very good track.
I really like Nissan frontiers. Simple but effective. I'm leasing a '17 colorado and I can't wait to return to a frontier v6.
Two things regarding your gloves.
1. Are you secretly a hand model???

Jk.
Good review
Anthony 911 can’t wait to return my 18 Colorado. Worst vehicle I’ve driven.
No I agree. It looked cheap for over 30k. It looked like a truck from about 2005.
Kevin Eaton that’s becuse it actually has not been redesigned since 2005.
It's a good looking truck, but spending that kind of money I would go full size. Great review!
This truck will be rolling when most of the full-size trucks are in junkyards.
You can easily find the Pro-4x for thousands off sticker. Several dealerships in this area have Pro-4x fully loaded for right at 30K.

I think the US is getting the redesigned Frontier in 2019. Or at least that's the rumor. Solid comment, btw. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. ✌️
Nissan frontier....I was told by my mechanic that these pickups are a cockroach...I said whaaaat. He said they don't die they just keep going. 😂😂
really dude 216 hp it packs 261 as it has for long time.
First couple of years had 270. They offered a V8 for that pathfinder and the six got de tuned after that.
I fear Nissan is becoming the Chrysler of 10 years ago so to speak... a large majority of their current models (Frontier included) are solely purchased by rental companies.

216 HP? Dyslexia setting in!!!!!!!
Old truck goes with old wife...LoL 😂
okay barely 4 stars but 4 stars none the less..
I LOVE THOSE NICE BIG KNOBS MAN
Thanks? ;)
For that price as new.. ill just get a used 14-16 GMC Canyon or Chevy Colorado with 40k-60k miles for under 30 grand. They look better and last longer
ntxim ntxub the 5 cylinder or the 6 cylinder?
0:38.....OJ SIMPSON?!
Pretty good gas mileage? Lol a Ford 5.0L gets better mileage than this. This truck is nice, but the gas mileage is down right scary.
ZERO. offroad testing???.... pretty important part of a 4x4 truck review...............
I know. Totally valid criticism. On my end, I rented this for work and I only had about 45 minutes to film the review. Not enough time to find a good place to test out the off road capability. Sorry about that. I hope you found some value in the things I was able to cover in this review.
Very late, but my Grandmother owns a 2010 Frontier... It looks exactly the same as this 2018. That's atrocious.
Chandler The Changeling why does that make it atrocious? It looks better than my 18 Colorado.
261 hp
Get your facts right
Damn soooo outdated. Jeezz
I totally agree. Then again, that's Nissan's lineup right now. Everything feels old...except for maybe the Maxima. I love that one.
Seems basic...
