    Over the years I have watched several PS tutorials on neon, and this tutorial presents the most realistic version I have seen so far. Those small potent details you present in the tutorial give the overall composition that extra realistic look and feel. Great tutorial! Thank you, Jesus.

    This is a great effect! Could you go further & animate it to make it look like it's blinking off & on or shorting out? If so, that would make it look really cool.

    • @PhotoshopTrainingChannel
      @PhotoshopTrainingChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Richard, Thanks! You animate it with the Timeline panel. But if you want to animate something like this, After Effects would probably give you better results and it would be easier.

    Great video! When doing the background....what is the clipping mask and what does it do?

    • @PhotoshopTrainingChannel
      @PhotoshopTrainingChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A clipping mask makes it so that the adjustment layer only affects the layer below. In the background it makes no visual difference. But it's a good habit to get into.

    Another excellent tutorial. You are my "go to" man when I need a refresher course on a procedure that I don't use often enough to know each step by heart. One question: At about 5:56 in your video, you indicate Layer Styles doesn't allow one to duplicate the Outer Glow effect. You are obviously using a much newer version of the version of PS than I am (CS6). Doesn't the newest version of PS allow one to right-click on the fx effect and choose; "Create Layer" (which of course creates a duplicate of, in this case, Outer Glow on a separate Layer)? In doing this, you would still have the ability to bring up Layer Styles on the Layer you started with, thereby duplicating the effect.......and being able to make adjustments on either or both Layers. Not meaning to "up stage" your fine tutorial but rather trying to figure out some of the new features of the latest PS before "pulling the trigger" and signing up for a year's subscription (which I having to do).

    I despair of the materials. Whenever I create a material with the layer selected, it just creates a Smart Object copy of the selected layer, but no material has been applied. I can't find a solution to this problem either.

    I'm not sure that achieved result is realistic. Normally the source of light always makes a background brighter in light color range. Also it casts the shadows when background is not flat. In this case, the blue neon light creates something like blue fog covering the background instead make in brighter in blues . Of course, many beginners will get this effect as natural, but it is far from to be real. Can you make this tutorial again explaining step by step how to achieve reali lighting effect?
