They’re in different kits, so it’s actually pretty easy. Not to mention, they don’t all look the same. Your insinuation is at best naive and at worst gross and racist.

He is hyped to do his job, love the enthusiasm. Plus, as fast as those guys are running, he has to do some serious cycling to get ahead of them, major props to this guy!!

The danger of taking a bottle from a stranger is to risky. If there is a bad/wrong substance in a bottle, come urine sample and the results could be devastating for the athlete.
@Veronicah Njeri That used to be the case but there were instances were athletes were taking the wrong bottle so I am guessing that, the very elite at least, were given the chance to have the bottle given to them every time by the same person

I once tried to ride a bike at his pace and distance and it's pretty hard. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't out of breath afterwards. Really puts into perspective what these people are doing!

@@ladboii2901 they are running more than 20kph on average. The water stations are seperated by 5km. After they passed him he needs to get on the bike ride the 5km get off the bike prepare the bottle and make himself ready for handing it out all within 15 minutes. He had to drive 40kph at times as he said later in an interview. With a street bike 40kph is not that difficult to reach. But without training 40kph is already tough. And keep that pace up for the entire distance with jumping off and on the bike. I know some people who drive an average of less than 20kph on a bike.

@Optic Flow Also I reckon actually handing the bottle is hard as well. Runners are really fast, you have to let go of the bottle just when the runner has a tight enough grip on it. Make yourself visible, have an eye for a good handover spot. If randoms would do it, runners would have to slow down, change their steps, drop bottles more often. Most of all it has to be reliable and concise.
What makes Klaus so great is how he completely understands the significance of what Kipchoge is doing and is 100% committed to ensuring that it happens. And by his actions he is able to communicate that understanding to the rest of us in a way that enables us to understand it as well.
Just one mistake by Klaus on the bottle handover could cost the world record. This is not just any water bottle situation, this is for the greatest marathon runner in the world.
So happy when he successfully passed on the bottle to the legend himself. Quite impressive when you think about the insane speed of ~21km/h.
In cycling you often do it in higher speeds - but its always a bit of a gamble. Klaus does a great job

@@WRSTxPumbaa No, its often from someone on the side of the road. There was an epic blunder in this year's TdF when the handoff team support guy didn't see that a rider from another team was going to be in the way and the rider was accidentally "punched" in the face and fell off. D'oh!
@@bobbybob3447 oh dam. I don't follow Cycling too much. Just saw a video of someone putting a bunch of waterbottles down his shirt while a car drove next to him handing him the bottles. I just assumed they give them the water that way but obviously that would not work on every street they ride on
That's fast! I dabbled in running, and it was tough for me to stay over ~12kmph! (Not that I was any good 😅)

This is the most wholesome thing I've watched this week. The excitement of a mere bottle exchange. The smallest things often matters the most and has the biggest impact. People should consider themselves lucky to have such a positive and bright spirit in their life. This genuinely made my day. I had no clue of this legend.

I just thought that even on a bike, 42km with a speed of 22 km/h is definitely somewhat of a workout haha. Crazy that humans (well, one human in particular) can do that on foot
