Ferry always had a great feeling of the balance between words, looks, gestures and tones. Like a complete painting made by a master. He delivers, time and time again.
It's not just my mid-life crisis, I swear, but this just makes me cry. It is so insanely amazing. How to say it? Thrilling, stimulating - like nothing else. I am mesmerised by Mr. Ferry. Did he know just how brilliant he was being? The whole thing just blows my mind. Thank god it happened.
Just an absolute gem of a song. This man inspired the singers of the 80’s, and beyond, including many synth bands and clearly Morrissey. The sound is timeless.
Eddie Jobson on keys, John Wetton on bass - 3 years before forming the legendary band "U.K." Another key moment in music history. Bryan Ferry certainly had good taste, including in his choice of musicians. Love this song, and Jobson's arrangement (at the age of 19 here!!). Brilliant.
one of the best and saddest and truest songs ever about the human condition. On our way to enlightenment, we have to pass through so many stages of hope, ennui, pain and beauty. so let's all just try to be as kind as we can be to each other….and have a really good time.
pretty funny, I just realized this was on the Midnight Special-the audience was probably in full "WTF?" mode-though I saw them around this time live in Los Angeles and we were totally entranced-he sang this song as if his life depended on it.
As good as The Thrill Of It All is and which has one of the best intros in rock/pop music IMHO A Really Good Time is the best track on Roxy's best album. London in the 70's , Sohoesque...
still, IT's hounting the melanina since the stanzas change perspectives, from boredom to excitement, decadence to happy moments, loneliness and selfsteem... a rare gem from Mr Ferry
Roxy Music - A really good time. I’ll admit to not having heard this song before but it won’t be the last. This is the music that Roxy Music are famous for. Its a great track. This track has got Bryan Ferry written all over it. Well Done Mr. F. I’ll listen to it again. Nice 👍
i can´t decide which RM song is my fav!! sleepless about that!RM surprises me again and again.the songs are always new and familair since 30 years to me
For me it's "If There Is Something". The last part just gives me a smile every time I sing along to it. "Mother Of Pearl" is a second, it's the song I found them through, it was on an episode of How I Met Your Mother
Not lip-synched! Saw them at the Chicago Auditorium in 74' perform this and right up front they tell you the strings are added on tape. The Country Life tour with John Wetton on bass was magnificent!
@@lashedbutnotleashed1984They weren't miming. I put the album track over the original live audio for another perspective, that's all. The original is on YT somewhere, not hard to find.
A beautiful song. most has been said in the comments before me. I remember singing to this on my own in my teenage bedroom when the album was first released...
And I say to myself, how come i have loved this band for the last 45 years, and then I go and listen to the best guitarist by the name of phil and I realize just how lucky iam to know what great music truly was !
I wish this was a live recording, but I opened another YT window and was able to sync the album track to this audio. That aside, one of RM's best songs and the line "She never goes out much, but boy when she does then you'll know" is just too good.
This is from the county life tour, I thank the lord I was able to enjoy this tour when they came to the Santa Monica civic auditorium. Mothers finest was the warm up band which is all I remember but, watching roxy music was an unforgettable experience. So great.
I named My Eldest Son Bryan with a Y.🎷🎸 But..This One goes out to The One I Love❤️ She took Me To go See Bryan in Amsterdam 2018.. What a Roxy Time We Had❤️🎸🎷🌹🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 Claire Rose🌹.. Sadly 😥 She's getting Chemotherapy treatment for Ovarian cancer at This Moment.🙏 Ohhh How I Love Her❤️🙏🌹🎶🎶🎶
I always thought this was a widely regarded classic that everyone knew whenever I’d listen to it I just thought it had that quality and assumed everyone had heard it apparently I was wrong but it’s still a classic in my mind 😊
@801liveable Bryan laid-back singing made roxy music a brilliant band. they had a great carreer worl-wide, not so much in the states. but I mostly think it's because Ferry was much more complex for the american people. especially when he put all his make-up in the Roxy era ;-)
Arguably the most sophisticated moment in the history of rock.
To compare the lyrics to pure poetry is to sell this composition short. It is all of that and so much more- True Art and STUNNING!
No argument here. This piece makes Bryan Ferry’s erudition transparent😊
One of them, yes, although I can't pinpoint the exact moment. But from sometime right around there it's been downhill ever since.
1974. There is no substitute for Paul Thompson on drums.
Country Life is one of the best albums ever. A Really Good Time is one of the best songs ever. Roxy are one of the best groups ever.
Oh yes.
Well said!
roxy is the kind of band that every fan has different taste on what is their masterpiece 😁
Ferry always had a great feeling of the balance between words, looks, gestures and tones. Like a complete painting made by a master. He delivers, time and time again.
What a brilliantly constructed piece. And the lyrics are pure poetry. a true classic.
All your troubles come from yourself, nobody hurts you, they don't care, just as long as you show them a really good time
Important life lesson 🙂
That’s for sure more so in these times when there’s so much hate .
One of the best tracks , probably the best era of roxy music .
Yeah...they were never quite the same after Country Life.
Thank god it happened.
yes. Bryan always thought was brilliant, and rightly so.
I know exactly what you mean. thanks for expressing it.
Heard this song for the first time tonight. It was playing before and after a show John Mulaney did in LA. Props to him. He’s got good taste.
Country Life - Not mentioned as a classic, but it is in my mind (and heart). What a piece of vinyl that was.
CL is by far my favorite of their recordings
This song, Prarie Rose, If it takes all night, Casanova & All I want is you make CL my favourite. The other albums are not bad either.
One of my favourite tracks from Country Life. Personally, I am deeply moved by this song
I am as well, but I don’t know why. I find the lyrics so unique I guess.
I'm here with you.
Me too. I use to sing to my girlfriend . We have been married 44 years so far 😀
@@johnmasterman My boyfriend used to sing this to me also except he said, "She's got no money, well maybe a $2 bill.."
My all time favourite song from, for me, their best ever album Country Life. Criminally underated band-still great live when they get together.
Country Life is a classic album.
Growing up with Roxy Music certainly gave me a Really Good Time !
I love the lyrics to this song.
What a beauty he is! Whenever I look at him and hear his voice I have a really good time.

+Karen Katz Well said!
You are a sage. Blessings !
Karen Katz nailed it.
Are they miming in this? Because the audio is the exact same as the album version, as far as I can tell.
Adore this song, and Bryan looked fabulously Laurence Harvey like here!
I cry everytime I hear this. And I play it often. just the BEST.
I was fortunate to see this country life tour at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Roxy at their prime. Just brilliant.
The greatest band ever
As good as The Thrill Of It All is and which has one of the best intros in rock/pop music IMHO A Really Good Time is the best track on Roxy's best album. London in the 70's , Sohoesque...
Flawless
like so much of their discography
Thank you so much for reminding me of how much I love this song!!! Know every word!
I love the way the verses change perspective each time, from 2nd person view to ist person view to 3rd person view.
Yup. Its brilliant ❤
still, IT's hounting the melanina since the stanzas change perspectives, from boredom to excitement, decadence to happy moments, loneliness and selfsteem... a rare gem from Mr Ferry
not melanina but meaning
Roxy Music - A really good time.

Sheer, unadulterated, pure greatness!
simple, pure, hypnotic, narcotic, i come back again and again. never loses it's potency.
God level coolness

FERRY LOOKING SOOOOOOO FINE!
Thank you for posting ~ by far Englands best singer songwriter ~ best regards Steve in York
I had a real good time watching Roxy music in the 70s 80s 90s I can't have enough of Roxy and Brian bless you man
And fifty years later, he still makes the song sound like a classic.!!
I guess you could say I had a really good, really good, really good, really good time listening to this.
What an amazing song. Guy Garvey's Finest Hour on BBC Radio 6 sometimes alerts me to classics like this that I never heard before.
Reminds me of my then girlfriend .looks to die for , heart of gold.great album.
The ending is beautiful

Oh my god..the memories...
A really good song! 👍
So profound and yet so simple and direct.
One of my child hood favorites. My dad used to play Roxy Music when he picked me up from floorball practice.
You know I don’t talk much except to my self cause there’s not much to say and there’s nobody else , some lines ring so true!
A song to listen to with a good bottle of wine...
I am so lucky to have grown up with The Midnight Special and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert!
Great Music never gets old.
Classic! Rock on Mr. Ferry and Roxy Music
Not lip-synched! Saw them at the Chicago Auditorium in 74' perform this and right up front they tell you the strings are added on tape. The Country Life tour with John Wetton on bass was magnificent!

Experimental and Pure Class ! Way ahead of their time.
This is Bryan in his Great George Hamilton Gatsby mode! Methinks.
spot on !
the one and only Bryan Ferry--nothing like it..
Cool song by a GREAT band! Thank You!!!
The mighty Roxy Music at there best
How good is this
OMG. I am 60 and have never seen that footage. Thank you for posting.
Pure Class
The king of cool!
From "Roxy Music" Country Life , the best.
And I say to myself, how come i have loved this band for the last 45 years, and then I go and listen to the best guitarist by the name of phil and I realize just how lucky iam to know what great music truly was !
Sometimes this is what I need to hear.
Only sometimes??
This was our song 🤔 been together now for 40 years
Philadelphia summer 1993, and this says it all about you, JR!
OMFG that guy is so fricking cool!!!
I wish this was a live recording, but I opened another YT window and was able to sync the album track to this audio. That aside, one of RM's best songs and the line "She never goes out much, but boy when she does then you'll know" is just too good.
Yeah, I love how he slips in conversational bits like in "Both Ends Burning" where he sings "....counting sheep, hell! Who can sleep in this heat?"
Still brilliant
These re-dubbed Roxy/Ferry tracks from 'Cowbanas' are fantastic - check them all out. Just booked my Roxy Music Concert tickets for 2011
one of my roxy faves.
It really does not get much better than this!
This is from the county life tour, I thank the lord I was able to enjoy this tour when they came to the Santa Monica civic auditorium. Mothers finest was the warm up band which is all I remember but, watching roxy music was an unforgettable experience. So great.
A really good time!
such wonderful memories...happy days..
John Wetton on bass here, fresh out of King Crimson.
Nice, Smooth & "a really good time."

Sheer genius.
I ain't heard that one in awhile, thanks I appreciate all the great classics 😄💗
💞🌹🎶 Great song
Love the lyrics..
Many friends have told me this song reminds them of me :/ I love this song and sadly it reminds me of myself too.
I was that girl when I was younger, but I can tell you something, we can all grow into something better than what we were when we began…..
his voice is like honey
This reminds me of David Bowie Changes and Ziggy Stardust.
I always thought this was a widely regarded classic that everyone knew whenever I’d listen to it I just thought it had that quality and assumed everyone had heard it apparently I was wrong but it’s still a classic in my mind 😊
It would be great to see Roxy music in Australia 1 more time
