Korea has a long and glorious history with the art of archery: The ancient and Medieval hunting tradition and century's wars for survival gave the Koreans the perfect art of archery.
this match is really important to both Korea and Japan. It still would be even if it wasn't final match. Only Koreans and Japanese will know its importance.
Both players look cool. I couldn’t see that they have a feeling of pressure on this game. Both players are really good in archery. I give two thumbs up to these players.
As a competitor and coach, I think that's something we have to overcome ourselves and learn to drown out. Focus on nothing but your form and your shots, nothing else, not even the shooter next to you that's trying to beat you for gold.
Please have a look at the soldiers in the background at Oh Jin Hyek Win Men's Archery Gold - London 2012 Olympics especially the one in the middle... what the ;)
+Nahian Akbar It actually not that uncommon. These days the arrows are made of some composite material so it is actually possible for one arrow to slide into another one like stacking plastic cups.
Ah, it finally happened... at the mixed team semi final during the Tokyo Olympics. An San Robinhooded her teammate Kim Je Deok's arrow (both scoring 10). The arrows are now on display at the Olympics Museum.
In the slow-mo shot at 7:15 you can see that the arrow was still flying totally sideways just a few meters before it hit the target. Seems to me there was a lot of luck involved, I can't imagine that shooters at that level haven't got their bows and arrows tuned and optimized to the max ...?
That too also has to do with the archers paradox which shows that for recurve archers that all the arrows that they shoot results in a wobbly type arrow flight
You can watch them shoot the whole time but it means nothing unless you know how FAR they are shooting. Tipical distance for the Olympics is 80 yrds right? Thats 240 feet!
I think I just heard "London Calling" in the background. Being able to use such legendary songs in the Olympics is a luxury only reserved for Britain, it seems.
Graham6762 most probably alloy arrows with a sharp little point on each end. Still can go through human flesh, but not as effective as the arrows u see in movies/tv show like The Arrow.
I don't give a crap about the safety of the baby. I do archery as well, and I understand all of the safety precautions. I'm just saying that if I were shooting in the gold medal match of the Olympic games and I had to deal with a baby crying in the background as I'm trying to focus in this incredibly MENTAL sport, I'd be ever so tempted to violate a few of those safety measures.

Nope. 70meter - watch at 04:07 there is distance mark on the ground right aside the target.
+Big P It wasn't counted as a ten yet because it was so close to the line, so they had to confirm it as a ten to hike up the score. In the meantime, they call it a nine
Whats wrong with bringing a baby to an archery match???? People are people, but these athletes are still professionals and all safety measures have been taken so that no one gets hurt. I do archery and we have babies all the time at our indoor range.
I would think it's common courtesy to not bring babies or anything that would be a deterrence for excellence. They try do this in Tennis and most other spectator olympic sports. I'm guessing your archery events aren't at the gold medal level. Can't really compare that with this :)

korea is the top number1 and it hasnt changed for decade
korean dominant in archery

This my be the most significant battle between Japan and Korea in history.
Both players look cool. I couldn’t see that they have a feeling of pressure on this game. Both players are really good in archery. I give two thumbs up to these players.

Bwahah wet willie...

They're cute xD
We didn't have to shoot 3 arrows in 6:48 mins. we have to shoot 3 arrows in 2:00 mins.

Finally! Waiting for so long for this matches!
I'm just waiting for one of them to split an arrow in two with another arrow but unfortunately thats almost impossible
+Nahian Akbar
It actually not that uncommon. These days the arrows are made of some composite material so it is actually possible for one arrow to slide into another one like stacking plastic cups.
+Nahian Akbar since their arrows are carbon, their arrows not gonna split.... it will explode
James Lee ever heard of pin nocks??
The only unlock that skill once they defeat the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Ah, it finally happened... at the mixed team semi final during the Tokyo Olympics. An San Robinhooded her teammate Kim Je Deok's arrow (both scoring 10). The arrows are now on display at the Olympics Museum.
Thank you!
It´s 70m. You can see a signed that says 70m at 4:09
I always wondered... WHY is there a CRYING BABY in the crowd, when the players need absolute SILENCE?
... and tuc-tuc music too...
The japanese guy was like: "ryuu ga waga TEKI WO KURAU".
Best comment I have seen so far 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 W

it was also a windy ass day
archers paradox?
That too also has to do with the archers paradox which shows that for recurve archers that all the arrows that they shoot results in a wobbly type arrow flight
It's the spacer from the finger-tab. It's to prevent the archer from squeezing the arrow between the fingers and messing up the shot
these guys are machines
No cabe duda que el coreano tiene una punteria tremenda.

Suzy Almblade Thanks I was wondering that.
Actually it's 70 meters
tomatoes tomahtoes. It's still freakishly far.
Suzy Almblade Yeah, it's really far
+Suzy Almblade i shoot 100 yards
What did Mark nutt place in this event?
That baby crying everytime Oh was about to shoot really stressed me lol
Awesome :)

they shouted "oppa fighting!" lol
thanks :D
Isn't it cool how you can see a first person reflection in their glasses?
is olympic archery only recurve? wgats the compound bow biggest tournament called?
Olympics is only composite recurve shooting.
Nationals/Internationals can be bareback recurve and compound.
+Flovust Compounds will be in the 2020 Olympics as a demonstration sport
So many mistakes in commentary lol. Go Korea!!!
I think I just heard "London Calling" in the background. Being able to use such legendary songs in the Olympics is a luxury only reserved for Britain, it seems.
what is that thing between takaharu furukawa's index and middle fingers at 2:13
i dont get it , winner of this fight against legolas ? or where is it ?
Big Oh is godlike
I wonder how much the diffraction from his sunglasses affect his accuracy at that distance.
I think its just a bit windy, they were both working hard to compensate, the paradox would be over in the first 12 yards
both players are very good
What flag is in Sixth place at the end?
Malaysian flag
Thank you, taro
+Storm Breaker MAS[118] MalaysiaMAL (1964-1988) Hope this helps
There should be small circle 10 followed by 9.5(the original 10) then 9. And if it hits the line it should be the average.
Does anyone know if they use real arrows?
Graham6762 most probably alloy arrows with a sharp little point on each end. Still can go through human flesh, but not as effective as the arrows u see in movies/tv show like The Arrow.
Yuma Setiawan they use an aluminum/carbon arrows with most likely tungsten points
Where is mark nutt
I'm pretty sure Katniss Everdeen would have loved to been in this competition! ^.^
is this 90meter or 70meter distance?
Yet another archery video with messed up audio
wich arrows are using?¿ thanks
Carbon arrows
Who the hell brings a baby to an archery match?
Who thinks that they must create international competitions where mounted archers try to prove which nation is the best?
Did anyone else see the army guys at 6:50 😂😂
no it shows that guy is good
Does anyone know the official distances?
regulation standards for outdoor shooting is 70 meters, which is roughly 240 feet.
If people bring babies it could set the players concentration of if the baby cries
i agree, but i think you mistook his point
Shawn kelly, how am I racist? HE IS LEGALLY BLIND. He cannot see the lines, but he practiced so hard that he has a feel for them.

u saw that too
War of the Arrows shows that koreans are bad ass with arrows :D
what's the range?
70m
+Wei Ting Lee wow that's long. they can shoot a bow =D
Lords. 😉
If Oh Jin Hyek joined the South Korean army he could decimate with that bow 0_0
yeah, but i don't think he could slide on shields like legolas...

why is this so intenses

korea didnt get 10 points added on the second shot!
I know right I noticed that to
Casters saw it as a 10, the shot was officially recorded as a 9. It was on the line
good observation
thx
역시 한국은 양궁 강국
They made a score mistake Korea got a 9 then a 10 but after two shots the score was 18
Qaszxc
Its hard to concentrate with babies, they cry, they yell, and some players might be more affected than others. I think thats his point
2:35 9+10 does not equal 18
And they took off wrestling at the Olympics...
Oh Jin Hyek not playing this year 😢
Damnn
The people in the background say fighting right? haha cute. :D
Great now he doesn't have to do military service
chickiin chickiin who? And why?
Is he from Real Korea?
OF COURSE!! ARE YOU CRAZY!!
korean archer is legally blind.
badass archer
MAAAAAAARRRRRKKK NUUUUUUUUTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the Olympics Japan never wins
And they said asians can see properly with those eyes😑😂
What do you mean? To me it looks like they have really good aim.
+Hisui E. Fiore
She meant "can't" I'm guessing
second arrow is a 9
9+9=18
6:50 the army guys :D
So windy...
That goosebumps moment when Kim Jong-Un enters the arena to congratulate Oh Jin Hyek !!
MARK NUTT!
I would think it's common courtesy to not bring babies or anything that would be a deterrence for excellence. They try do this in Tennis and most other spectator olympic sports. I'm guessing your archery events aren't at the gold medal level. Can't really compare that with this :)
