    I was teasing my boyfriend that some of what I'm growing this year is because I like a colorful garden! (As well as a colorful plate! 😉) When I stopped to think about it, I realized the only thing blue in my raised beds this year was cornflowers. 😱😱🤯🤯😵😵😵 "Are they edible flowers?" I replied, "Not really." "Then they don't count." Uugghhhh!! So, blue corn is on my list for next year! 😁😁😁 Also, HUGE CONGRATS on reaching 200k subscribers!! 🎉🎉🎉🎂🎂🎂👍👍👍 VERY well deserved! Keep up the GREAT videos.
    P.S. I'm thinking about taking some of my stimulus check to pay to get my Master Gardener Certificate. Thanks for being such a wonderful inspiration! 🌱👍😊

    Your point about considering the PH is well taken. You made that clear in one of your previous vids. I'm on a very tight budget, so I bought 15ft (enough to do 180 tests) of name brand test tape for urine/saliva PH (same range as soil) for a bit less than $8 on eBay. I took samples from all over my property at various depths and YIKES - they all tested 5.5! So now I'm really paying attention to that and lime is my new best friend ;-)

    I had some ideas for shirts. "Ear we grow again!" with a picture of a corn cob. "The eyes have it," with some potato eyes. The next one is over three lines. "Garden away. Garden any way. Garden anyways." You could also do the last one with "Grow away!" with a picture of someone walking to a garden, "Grow anyway." with a picture of someone who has just lost a crop, and "Grow any ways," with a two or more pictures juxtaposing which different types of gardens (eg: rooftop, container, and trellis). Secondly, it's six dollars for one dragon heart (dragon heart or dragon fruit?) here, and two dollars for dragon ___ seeds. Guess which one I bought?

    We use a number of decision points you use to decide what to plant plus; what will dry (you mentioned but emphasized as we go through a large amount of spices), how they taste when dehydrated/frozen, veggies that are only available for a limited time, what we use a lot of so even if it is cheap to buy it all adds up. Thanks for the video

    Good information. Please tell your subscribers that goji berry plants can be very invasive and should be planted far away from the rest of their gardens or in a very large and tight container. (This advice is from my personal experience.) My favorite way to eat their berries is by making juice out of them and mixing it about half and half with orange juice. Mmmmm...

    We were pleasantly surprised by how many plants came up from seeds we planted all through the fall season. We thought there were a lot more garden failures than we actually had. We still got a lot of new seed packets, and a few varieties to make sure we get a variety that establishes well, including vesca strawberries!

    Hey Gardener Scott. I’m also Colorado Zone 5b. I’m a new gardener and I learn a lot from your videos. Thank you.
    I have a question. Should I be worried about the groundwater being contaminated? Everyone around me sprays Roundup and since I live downhill from multiple neighbors, I’m worried those chemicals will get into any foods that I do grow. Do you think I should be worried about that?

    • @GardenerScott
      @GardenerScott  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Depending on where you live you should be able to get a ground water report from your water utility. Roundup is not a big contaminate and if it does find its way into your garden it will kill plants before you can harvest them. Pesticides and excess nitrogen fertilizer are worse.

    I really enjoy your videos, but I have a question, I have an area that I am covering in black plastic to kill off Johnson Grass. I am wanting to place two large containers about 15 to 20 feet a part and plant cantaloupe in one and cucumbers in the other and spread wheat straw on top of the black plastic so the heat wont cook the plants. My question is will they cross pollenate? or have an effect on the taste of each other?

    • @salenakeyes300
      @salenakeyes300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They may cross pollinate but that should only effect the seeds not the fruit of this current year. You could use a blossom bag and quarantine a certain blossom or two. Then you would know which fruits would be true to type for saving seeds for nxt year😊

    • @GardenerScott
