    Good evening, doc! Just wanted to ask a few questions. I'm currently a senior medical resident in the Philippines but am planning to migrate to Australia after a finished my diplomate exam next year. Just wanted to ask if there are any perks/advantages of being a specialist here when migrating or do we take the usual pathway of taking the AMC and then job offer? Thanks so much!

    • @febsmd
      @febsmd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello po Doc, If it's IM, am not sure if we can go through specialist pathway, coz they have a different training program for IM/Gen Med which is BPT, i guess it would be best to ask this question to AHPRA or our fellow Pinoy IM diplomates (apologies I am not very sure), so far, I only know of several Paediatricians from the PH, who were able to go through the specialist pathway, all other specialties... had to go through Standard pathway (AMC 1 &2 , HMO/RMO jobs etc). Doc join ka po sa FB group ng mga Pinoy doctors to Australia. I think having a lots of clinical experience is a very big advantage, especially in getting job offers and on the job itself. Sorry wasn't much help :(

    Good day, Doc. I am a new subscriber po sa channel niyo and a doctor aspiring to hopefully work in Australia someday. May I ask po if there is a minimum requirement of work experience and is there a need na purely hospital-based po? Thank you po, Doc.

    • @febsmd
      @febsmd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello salamat po sa support. Ang advise ng karamihan is at least 2yrs. Including na dun ung senior internship ntn. Like me 1.5years hospital experience (including PGIship) plus 1 year na moonlight as GP. Bale total po ng 2.5 years. yan po ay kung HMO/RMO role.
      Kung GP naman ang advice ng karamihan ay ang clinical experience more on GP practice/clinics.
      Pero hnd po ako ang expert pra dito disclaimer lang po, yan lang din po ang mga advise ng mga mas maalam skn hehehe and sa palagay ko totoo naman po.

    What factors yung tinitignan ng hospitals sa mga applicants? Kasama ba age? Or kung anong ginagawa mong work dito sa Pinas (i.e hospital vs non hospital work?)?

    • @febsmd
      @febsmd  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi hello po napakagandang tanong po niyan, thank you po! Sa palagay ko kung HMO ang aapplyana hindi msyadong factor po ang age. sa Specializations kadalasan po nagmamatter. Ung experience sa Philippines po applicable siya kung anung pathways gusto mo ipursue kung gusto po ntn maging HMO/RMO as in hospital based, mas favored po nila ung hospital experience. meanwhile kung GP po gusto ntn applayan, okay din ung non hospital job.
      Ang pinakamahalaga po sa pag-aapply is ung gap of practice. iminimise po ntn sa 3mos na walang clinical work pra di tayo magkaproblema kay AHPRA :)

    • @mariananiecanedo6845
      @mariananiecanedo6845 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doc, pag more than 3 months po na may gap sa practice mas mahirap po ba mag apply ng work like nung mga kumukuha ng student visa to australia?

    • @febsmd
      @febsmd  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariananiecanedo6845 generally yes ang sagot ko dito doc kasi ung ang sabi ng AHPRA. Pero meron naman mga return to practice plan at kung rmo ung target mo merong mga IMG programs na pwede ka magapply for recency.
      Search mo sa AHPRA doc paano ifill ung gap of practice nandun na sila doc.
      Tricky talaga ung student visa kasi you'll be risking the clinicals pero at the same time gaining credential (which is important din sa PR and citizenship eventually) hehehe

    Hello Doc!
    - Am I required to complete PGI/PLE here in the PH po before applying for limited registration in AU or can I apply for PGY1(Internship) directly after completing my limited registration (straight from MED SCHOOL)?
    - Would you recommend taking PGI here in the PH first or is it okay do it in AU?
    - If I fail po ba AMC 2, will I be sent home after competing PGY1?
    Thank you po, doctor! Looking forward to hearing from you po.

    • @febsmd
      @febsmd  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1. You can only apply for limited registration if you pass the PLE kasi hinahanapan ng relevant clinical experience and ung certificate of good standing sa PRC. So yes need mo po icomplete ung PLE mo, now the thing im not sure of is kung dto ka mag PGI kung tatanggapin ni PRC as requirement bago makapag PLE. Sa palagay ko need mo po muna iverify un sa PRC
      2. Sa internship sa australia, hnd ako msyado familiar for IMG. Pro something to keep in mind that even local graduates dto. Prang may matching din, hnd lahat nakakapasok sa first hospital of choice. Pero maganda din po sana na maexpose ka sa Aus as junior intern kahit certain rotation lang pra man lang may idea ka kung trip mo ba talaga, just check with your school if inooffer nila ang Aus mostly kasi stn US lang.
      3. Wala naman po nagpapauwi pag nagfail sa exam i guess required ka lang umuwi if mageexpire na ung visa mo.
      Pero generally kailangan mo po pumasa ng PLE (unlike) USMLE, kasi need mo ng clinical experience and to be able to practice as a doctor sa pinas need po ntn ng PRC LICENSE.

    Is it tough to become psychatrist in australia if i enter australia via competent authority pathway?

    • @febsmd

      Entering as a speciliast to Australia i guess is always challenging but i would not say impossible i know few people who are psych trained abroad whose training was partially recognized in australia via specialist pathway. I guess if your interested you have to ask RANZCP about the process and requirements so you can plan ahead

Pero cguro the first step is to pray, second is to introspect and third is i guess take that step if you really wanted to. Mahirap magchange ng career ang daming pros and cons but at the end of the day, just do whatever makes you HAPPY!!!!!!!

      We appreciate all the work you’ve put into your vlogs, doc ♥️ I’ve been contemplating whether to take the standard pathway or the competent pathway

      I’m also concerned about what to do after passing the boards. I have learned that some moonlighters are having a hard time finding a stable job. The realities of being a GP in the Philippines were never discussed to us

    Hi Doc, I am a registered nurse po here in Australia. Do you think it's a good idea to study medicine in the Philippines then come back to Australia to work as a doctor po?

      hello kabayan! hmmm interesting question, alam mo for me, kung kaya mo naman dito na mag-aral ng med sa AUstralia dito ka na hehe mas madali ang lahat (in terms of getting to know the system, of course ung language, ung work ethics, Theories, skills etc), pero maiintindihan ko na sobrang laki ng cost pag international student kaya kahit mga Fil- Au nauwi sa pinas para po magMed tapos balik nalng dito after boards para mag AMC... hindi ko po alam ang personal situation po ninyo, pero isa lang po ang masasabi ko, Pinas man or Australia, kahit gaano kahirap at kahaba ang journey...at the end of the day it will all be worth it, bsta tiyaga tiyaga lang po!
