    Nuclear is only potentially affordable for addressing baseload power demand, not seasonal loads. Hydrogen fuel cells are also super expensive for addressing seasonal peaks. Hydrogen from nuclear would be worst of all economically. Battery energy storage, pumped hydro using obsolete coal mines, etc. are a lot more economical than either nuclear seasonal peaking or nuclear to hydrogen to fuel cell for seasonal peaking.

    Given the threat of some solar mass ejection event knocking out our power grid plus the threat of EMP nuclear bombs it might be worth EMP hardening these so that they can back up the power grid which would be prohibitively expensive to EMP harden.

    A mega pack factory cost 400 million to stand up. From that you get 40 GW hours of megapacks per year. And around $20 billion of revenue, and around 3 1/2 billion in earnings. based on capital cost versus revenue and earnings and projected sales Tesla should be building two or three more of these. However, I might be missing something in terms of available battery production. Right now there’s an excessive batteries, but that’s unlikely to last as the macro environment improves. it’s also possible that the construction teams needed to stand Megapack farms up are very challenging to put together.

    @1:31 I expect *Tesla* energy storage ( *MegaPacks* ) and control ( *AutoBidder* [pure profit,]) to be far easier to ramp up, produce, and sell than the automotive side of the business.
    It's revenues are going to be _lumpier_ because the sales come in the *_millions of dollars_* per sale as opposed to the *_thousands of dollars_* on their consumer side.

    Although they can throw up a megapack factory quickly in a small footprint, where will all the batteries come from? that is to say is there sufficient batter production capacity around the world. I think battery factories will have to be built at the same pace or even greater than megapack factories.

    Each Vehicle have a smaller Starlink, that way as the data is collected from Teslas in Hawaii, in Morroco, in Philippines, in Alaska, Starlink sends it to a starlink Sattellite and Tesla just hires Space X....
    To Launch-Keep -on Orbit a Full Starship Data Center in Space... Starlink Collects Data--- and Solar Energy and data from Bots and Cars goes to the Stars. (Being in Orbit-Not- in any Nationalized Land- It is not at risk of War. It can be moved to another Orbit - powered by Solar)

    Im not seeing how these energy storage warehouses have anything to do with supplying energy to the data center/AI demand facilities, and dont see a large demand/market for them. All it is is a warehouse of batteries, that could possibly supplement a grid when its overdrawn. But that doesnt really solve the problem. Nuclear solves that and nearly every other power issue. Solar and wind are not only comically inefficient, they are ridiculously fragile and need more maintenance/upkeep than its worth. I can see the Megapacks having use in niche cases though. But we should be mining every crumb of coal, drilling every drop of oil, building nuclear power wherever is possible, and just flooding the market with as much energy as we can. FAR too much bureaucracy right now

      I don't think they like to because of a lack of expertise but also because efficiency improves dramatically with each generation of factory. Say they built ten now, all over the world. Competitors would soon build a second-generation factory and thereafter a third. In five to ten years, Tesla might be uncompetitive.

    New nuclear is crazy expensive and can take more than a decade to bring online. Solar and wind are cheap, although intermittent. The reason utility scale batteries are a great business is that they will largely fix the issue of intermittency. Small modular nuclear is not happening fast enough to make much of a difference. Elon says nice things about nuclear maybe because he’s tired of making enemies, but the truth is: If the utility scale battery business is half as successful as he is talking about, it will be a nail in the coffin for nuclear. The biggest advantage of utility scale batteries is that they will benefit from mass production, widespread use of battery technology by other industries, Wrights law, and much easier citing concerns.

  • @MattAllen-gr6fy

    They have to be battery constrained or they would have thrown up multiple factories this year. Cybertruck, semi, sexy & megapacks must have them short.

    • @derekgalbraith1508
      @derekgalbraith1508 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly my thinking as well. I feel pretty certain that battery constraints are more of a limiting factor than is being acknowledged.
      If there wasn't a serious battery constraint then there would have been no reason not to have already started multiple more megapack factories around the world.
      Seems like battery constraints were probably the main factor behind the Cybertruck release delays too, IMO.

    Consider HVDC transmission over fuel cells, seasonal storage.
    Hydrogen is wasteful of energy, a difficult fuel.
    Nuclear just too slow, too expensive.
    BESS arbitrage.
    Ignore the cheapest side, that hardly varies, just turn off wind & PV.
    It’s the demand spikes that count. $15,000 per MWh.

    Hey guys, can you talk about these Billions of Cars (ICE Vehicles) in the USA that are 25 years old and younger and are running strong and still runs well.
    They will exchange hands for a while. Unless the government would pass Cash for Clunkers many-a-times more and literally destroy these cars upon trade in to get them out of the doors.
    You guys NEVER EVER discuss, why China is large car market, it's because just few years ago, every single Chinese was riding a Bicycle. Now they are buying their very first cars.
    The USA, the EVs are advertised to try to replace an already paid-Off-very reliable ICE vehicle.
    We needed to have an ICE destroyed for every EV subsidy to buy a new car.

    • @judahdatoy6134
      @judahdatoy6134 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The More USed good EV out in the market and allowing for a strict "Crushed-ICE" Trade in to take out an actual ice car off the streets and direct EV replacement.
      Just like , replacing a coal fired plant for every Solar Farm Created. This is NOT the model of the USA.
      We sell the ICE vehicle and buy EV, the ice vehicle sold will work for 30 more years, this slowing down the transition.
      In China, there was NO Existing ICE vehicle for every EV sold. Rather, a bicycle got retired.

  • @Haffy1952
    @Haffy1952 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I am just wondering why China is developing more coal fired plants when they seem to be producing more batteries as well and not taking Elon's way and producing more mega battery storage facilities? Also why nuclear is not making a comeback as well.

    • @rowanbroekman3929
      @rowanbroekman3929 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because USA their electricity use is pretty stable for the last few decades, while China's electricity use is growing like a maniac. So China grows in wind, solar, coal, gas, everything and still want more.

    • @bobwallace9753
      @bobwallace9753 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      China has closed many thousands of inefficient coal plants and they have built some supercritical coal plants. Those coal plants were started years back when wind and solar were a lot more expensive.
      There are a number of things about which one can criticise the Chinese government, but we do need to give them credit for being able to do math.

    The next bull run is coming for EV companies. NIO will be TSLA's main competitor and the 2nd leading car manufacturer in the world by 2035. Once TSLA releases the Compact TSLA in late 2025 this will cause demand to soar. Everyone in the world will be driving fully autonomous electric cars by 2040 produced primarily by TSLA and NIO. The stocks have both been crushed by demand concerns, but a large scale compact affordable EV hasn't even been developed yet...we are only at the beginning. The rapid transformation is coming.

      These nations are not as monolithic as we are lead to believe. In every industrialized country, there are educated classes of technicians that are answerable to physics and the political climate. This is provable by the existence of a latent media that must manufacture consent just as we have in the West.
      This goes for China, Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Libya, Venezuela, Mexico, etcetera.
      There is no mythical strong man that can whimsically dictate. All, "leaders," are answerable to their centers of power. This is called materialism. Social forces are only as strong as their support.

    Since the data center is require so much energy and the grid can't handle it yet, it sounds like Nvidia is the one that is constrained and maybe overpriced. Tesla is offering the solution and appears to have years worth of orders backed up. At some point Nvidia will be oversupplied.

    Please, no more nuclear stupidity.
    In order for nuclear to be acceptable by the market costs have to drop approximately 80%. And the high cost of nuclear is not caused by regulation. At least by any unnecessary regulation.
    Nuclear reactors take, roughly, ten years to come online.
    A major solar farm can be constructed in less than a year.
    A major wind farm can be constructed in less than two years, sometimes less than a year.
    On top of that we don't need to wait for a solar or wind farm to be completed before it starts generating electricity. Racks of panels can be hooked up on a daily basis. It takes only three days to stand a wind turbine and connect it to the grid.

    Imagine doing a video on energy storage and not knowing what BESS stands for.
    Then the other clown says America was virtually the only nation in the World with landlines 😂😂😂😂
    Do any Americans know what a passport is?

    @4:44 I expect that *India* will _never_ buy *Tesla* _anything_ from *China.* (They _truly _*_hate_*_ each other._ )
    I also expect that *Tesla's* strategy in *India* will shift to offering *MegaPacks,* 4680 cells, and software before they bring in their autos.
    *India* has _major_ problems with their infrastructure, political systems, religions, and _corruption._ *Tesla* has *_other_*_ fish to fry._

    Your guest is a fool for saying TESLAshould stop producing solar panels. This stupid statement proves his lack of sophisticated understanding of our inability to replace China's panels should we end up in a war with China >>> which China has stated openly for the last 5 years we would be in by 2027.
    We need TESLAS mfg capability and their financial power to carry the business.
    In reality we are at war with China.
    Look how they have stolen Optimus design and created a not with greater specs. Not saying it's a better machine. I'm saying stronger spects. Technical specifications.
    We must compete and if our financial and govt agencies don't stop injuring TESLA we WILL loose the competitive advantage. Our govt should be working to help TESLA, not stifle it's progress.

      I'm not sure producing solar panels is something Tesla should be doing. Other US/US friendly companies can do that. Tesla needs to do innovative things and push technology forward, faster.

    No meaningful impact to the overall classification of $TSLA being a car company as yet. Hence stock performance to reflect this.
