Texas State and Liberty are my 2 Group of 5 teams that can make the College Football Playoffs... Then I have Memphis and then UTSA to round out my Top 4 teams...
Honorable mention: Fresno State I'm down in Louisiana now so I'll eventually try to attend a Tulane game.. and an LSU game and the red river rivalry. I love being in SEC territory😂
I hope Liberty can get back to 13-0 regular season conference champs. Biggest obstacle to us this year is probably App State who I was a little surprised didn't make this list either. If App beats an undefeated Liberty that would be a resume builder for them as well... though hopefully that doesn't happen. Should be another exciting season for Flames Nation. Fan the Flames!
Solid list. But personally, I'd have to go with Coach Klein's SCLSU MudDogs. The arrival of Bobby Boucher completely changed this team's trajectory, as they were previously a dumpster fire, having lost 41 straight. But after Bobby Boucher arrived, everything changed. They only lost a single game, and ran the table following their loss to Western Mississippi, as Bobby didn't quite understand the rules of football. But after he did, they took down teams such as Clemson, Louisville (of whom had a player get thrown into the stands by Bobby), and most notably, their arch rival, the Louisiana Cougars in the Bourbon Bowl. Bobby wasn't there at halftime to treat for his supposedly sick mother. But after she revealed that she was overprotective, Bobby returned, and showcased raw athleticism, leading the MudDogs to a 30-0 run all by himself, and the win. This year, Boucher returns, as he has said that he plans to stay in college and graduate, rather than going to the NFL. The rest of the team may not be great, but Boucher simply is the greatest football player I've ever seen. They may not be in a conference, which may hurt, but so is Notre Dame, who made the 4 team playoff twice. So it may not be as big of a concern. Bobby Boucher will also get lots of interest on SCLSU, which will 100% help their recruiting. Get ready for the MudDogs. Honestly, this team is my pick for the Natty. I just can't see it being otherwise. The group of 5 can't get any better. With Bobby's mamma being alright with him playing the foosball, you could say that Bobby's cooking for another 3 years.
Boise/liberty are 1,2 Everything will go dependin wat liberty does. My 3rd team is: Miami oh Ik the 1st 3gms are tough for a G5 But if they cld win 2 of em and end 11-1.. (This is if liberty has a loss and boise has 2)
Liberty is nowhere near a garunteed bid if they go undefeated, seeing how smu was 1 spot behind them with 2 losses, and after that Oregon game , i could easily see a 2 loss g5 team being over them
@TheGridironExpert not many are paying attention. And of course the national media picks liberty because they don't know liberty is playing a high school schedule. The flames would get flamed by tulane, Boise, Memphis, USF, even Texas st. And fresno too! App st and liberty can't be taken seriously. JMU eithier. Play somebody at the big boy table or sit and Wade in the kiddy pool since you choose to not swim in shark infested waters!
Memphis is the most likely candidate. The second best team would be App State. Boise State lost 6 games last year and got trounced in their bowl game. Boise will go 9-3 or 8-4 because they will lose at Georgia Southern (who I would say could be honorable mention) and Oregon and at least one other game. I don’t see any MWC teams in the running this season. Next year is a different story. I would have JMU and Tulane neck and neck as possible teams to go to CFP-12 team selection. Liberty and WKU are the front runners in CUSA. Toledo from the MAC and Ohio University from the MAC but have to win all their non conference games and go unscathed in conference play or only one loss to keep hope alive. Texas State and UTSA have major defensive issues and need that fixed to challenge in conference games before they push for a playoff spot. FAU and USF along with Miami-Ohio are dark horses in the playoffs race of the G5 schools.
Why do you show GSU beating Boise exactly? GSU lost 7 games last year, so not sure how your logic works saying BSU is going to lose because they lost 6.
Probably those 4 are more realistic than Texas state. Maybe coastal Carolina or app state could make that case from sun belt as well. We shouldn’t sleep on UTSA, UAB, and unlv as well. I wouldn’t think anyone from the MAC could get to the playoff realistically.
It’s a weird season for them and Washington State. They would have to go undefeated and even that might not earn an at-large bid since it’s a weak SOS. A solid bowl berth is probably what they’ll be aiming for this year!
Good squad and very well coached but lost a lot of talent from last year. Also terrible in the postseason (1-5 since 2016) and SOS probably won’t be strong enough to get them in.
Boise State definititly gave all the group of 5 teams that hope to be respected in that all-time classic against Oklahoma. I don't get why they don't join a power 5 conference. They earned their right to be there. On a funny note, I wonder if Liberty Mutual Insurance got money from Liberty's success last season? 😅🤣
Lets go Flames

Give me Liberty!! Time to Run it back
Heck yeah brother!
As a Memphis fan I wish I could see us play. It would be a good one
Honorable mention: Fresno State

Texas State is my darkhorse to make it to the playoff

Texas State
Dangerous!
I'm hoping for either Memphis or Appalachian State making it. And, go Vols!

Memphis is taking its place as it should! 10th straight bowl.
Memphis is going to be very dangerous this year no doubt about it! Love this team!
Tulane is a big sleeper in my opinion. Hoping the best for the wave under sumrall
Memphis is a darkhorse? Gimme a break.
To make the CFP? Yes they are. Extremely talented group and I’m very high on them this year but not many have them as their top G5 team.

watch out for JMU 👀
I think Liberty has a better chance of making the college football playoffs than Boise State.
The best group of 5 team that have a chance to make the playoffs is UCF or Memphis
Looking forward to Liberty at App State on Sept 28th. Will tell us a lot.
MASSIVE. Has CFP implications for both! And it’s so awesome to finally say that G5 games have CFP implications!
Would love to see Memphis advance in the playoffs. DM

Boise State is the front runner
UTSA
Texas State will make the playoff
They’ve got the team and schedule to do it! Can’t rule it out!

Boise State Broncos, let's goooo 💪
Love this team! They’re in for a BIG season!
Tulane 22/1 just to make playoff
Thoughts on Oregon State's chances? I don't know if they are considered P5 anymore...

Liberty Mutual really should sponsor Liberty Football. Though due to them being a private Christian/Conversative school I doubt they will.

Boise state would be in a p5 but the mw has a $38 million buy out
@@BensonHazlettBoise State is not a power 5 school
