I appreciate you sharing this, recently purchased an Sx-70 at an antique store. Ordered some film and I hope it works properly. If not then I’m glad you can repair it. Regardless I will be watching all of your videos to help me convert from the one step + to this new more complex system. I hope I didn’t bite off more than I can chew.

Good to know: The ASA of the original SX-70 Film was not 100. That's misinformation that Impossible Project/Polaroid Originals spread. In original Polaroid Corporation documents (brochure from 1978) the ASA of the SX-70 film is listed as about 150. So todays ASA of 160 is almost the exact same as the one of the original :)

Thanks for letting formation. On my box type SX-70 one step camera I can actually leave the compensation wheel in the middle most of the time. My folding SX-70 cameras overexpose just a little bit.

The graphic at 1:26 has the colors inverted my dudes, you made a friend lost half a pack using that as reference for exposure. I suggest less attention to video editing and production and more to the fundamentals of photography

I had to find my camera at a thrift store and it only has a few scratches on the leather but other than that it looks good as new and it came with the original case and I bought it for $10!
But looking at the price for the rechargeable flash bar and other accessories is a little hard pill to swallow is there any other companies that you recommend that have the same features that come out a little cheaper?

I've been told that some of the sx-70 cameras do not have circuitry for Fill Flash.

Great video, but I can’t get my head around your first diagram on exposure controls. To underexpose (darken) the image, you turn the dial to the left (as you look at th camera) which results in the dial being more black then white - which is the opposite in the diagram (which shows more white than black). Could you clarify please? Thanks

I'd say it depends on whether you're planning on shooting a lot of stuff in low light situations or not.

Thanks. But always bear in mind that the film has little dynamic and color palette range. Definitely not for my style of shooting.

This is probably an embarrassing question that will expose me as a total n00b, but when taking a selfie on my SX-70 with a remote shutter, how do I focus it in advance? (Mine is an Alpha 1, with no autofocus, so I have to manually focus.) But like...how do I manually focus on the air where my head will soon appear? I could use a stand-in, but if I'm by myself...? Sorry for being an idiot.

Our tip is to place something where you'll be, like a stand or a chair or a...tree, and pre-focus on that!

Or if you know roughly how far away you’ll be you can move the confuse to that length, look at the lens and the markings on the ring, move the number of how far away you’ll be to the bottom of lens and you’ll be good to go!

3:54 Underwhelmingly under powered . It’s ISO 100 guide number at full power is apx 63~63.4 whereas a Sylvania Blue Dot Flashbar was apx 160. Som have reported camera’s follow focus aperture control fails to operate as designed when using the Mínt Flashbar and Flashbar II. This is easy enough to test, simply find an indoor object apx 7 feet from your camera, make 1 full power exposure focused at close focus and a second full power exposure focused at infinity. The image focused at close focus should be very under exposed and the image focused at infinity should be apx 3 stops over exposed using 600 film for both exposures.
