Nice content , fortunately I joined the Polaroid clan just the same time your channel emerged in my recomm, got an sx70, had it cleaned , lubed, releathered to my liking, motor conditioned following your content, had a battery bottom plate installed for some future I type capabilities. Could not be more happy . I think the logical next step will be the pcb mod. But I will keep it simple and use my nd for now. I actually like the sx70film variant quite a lot to be frank. Any hoo, subbed , liked, keep the flow brother!
a tips and a topic rarely talked about on yt, what makes sx 70 films so special, and what are the differents with 600 ? a different color cast ? great vids thanks for the tips :) !
Color wise there is as much variation in between batches of the same type of film, let alone two different kinds I'm not sure I'll ever make a video on this topic because of the extreme amount of variables that can affect colour Temperature, age of film, aperture of camera used, batch of film etc But... Maybe I'll do a video telling people not to worry and to just use their cameras instead
i have some gunk on my rollers, i have IP, i have windex, i do not have spare lint free, soft cloth laying around. i do have lens wipes which are presoaked IP lint and dust free safe cloths, and it worked well lol
Hey thank you so much for all you do for the Polaroid community. I followed these steps and my SX-70 is sadly no longer powering on - I tried two different film packs. it’s a CLA’d SX70 modified to take 600 film. Did I accidentally break / bend my S7 switch potentially? I have a very important shoot next weekend - any help would be appreciated
@@8mmreel sounds like you bent the door switch, or the plastic post on your door came off Use some tweezers and bend the little brass to tab with the black plastic lug on it downwards, so that the door can make connection with it again
I can never find a straight answer online, but the L/D wheel DOES affect the image when you have a flash plugged in right? I swear my Mint Flashbar has worked just a little better indoors when I turn the wheel a little to lighten. Great video
Yes it does (with the exception of "W" shutters, which are a relatively rare variant) The L/D wheel is linked to a metal arm, which is linked to a spring loaded assembly called the 'flash cam'. The flash cam connects to the focus wheel Effectively during a flash exposure, the camera's aperture is dictated by the distance you are focused to. Close photos = small aperture. Far away photos = large aperture. Altering the LD wheel will further change this aperture (white = larger aperture, black = even smaller aperture)
@@theinstantcameraguy Thanks for the response it’s super interesting to learn about. It doesn’t exactly need adjusting I just learned that I preferred the look with flash and 1/3 lighten. My sx-70 was refurbed and converted by Chromatic Parts. Thanks again!
@@revolverrr I'm willing to bet Dennis accidentally forgot to adjust your flash cam. You can see for yourself. With an empty pack, and the flash plugged in (just cover up the light so you arent blinded!), and the L/D wheel set to neutral, set the lens to its closest distance of 10". Focus the lens as close as it will go Look into the lens, fire the shutter and check what shape the aperture blades are making The shape should look like a small 'aeroplane' like this: =[]= If it looks like a tiny rectangle instead: [] Then your flash cam isn't adjusted right. I have a photo of this on my Instagram.
This looks like a cherry veneer skin? Do you have any tips for getting it to conform to the viewfinder hood? I have a wood skin installed on mine and it seems to want to lift up, even after letting it sit with pressure overnight.
well this was far more in depth than most and its much appreciated, i figured i couldn't really mess up cleaning the rollers but now i know for sure

Is the ammonia in the glass cleaner not an issue or are you using an ammonia free version?
this is ammonia free
It's been years since I've seen glass cleaner with ammonia in it

@@theinstantcameraguy that would be a pretty much spot on conclusion for most cases ;-) to not worry to much for things you can't control

hopefully it's also the video you deserve :)

I mention this topic towards the end of the video 🙃

Altering the LD wheel will further change this aperture (white = larger aperture, black = even smaller aperture)
also, if you need to adjust the wheel, your flash cam needs re-calibrating.

sounds like the adhesive your wood uses is not powerful enough
Mine sticks just fine
Do I see a trend here lately, Jake? Dare I predict that the next video will be the one "Reading the Manual"? I hope so.
