Dr Mattei?! I was in the hospital for almost 2 years on 5south. I thought my life was over when I got my ileostomy and just felt so frustrated. And then nurses shows me your videos and I swear you saved my life. I just was in awe of your confidence and the fact that you went to school etc. thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤
Yes Dr. Mattei!! Aww they showed my videos?! The 5 south crew of nurses was the best and i am so glad i got to work alongside them ❤️ I'm so happy my videos could help you!!
Maggie this was very interesting. I have mentioned I lost my sister to Crohn’s disease in July as she didn’t get proactive in any of her care. It caused us to break ties for a bit as I was upset by her lack of caring about herself and disease. I only wish she would have watched your channel and got to understand all like you do. I often brought you up and explained what I heard and learned. She was in denial for 24 years. She died at 64. She took her life rather than fight to live with crohns. It’s quite sad when the info is out there and can be shared with patients and family alike. Great job and bless you for what you do!!!
So glad for your excellent videos ..it helps so much for me with a colonstomi after a colon rectal cancer...you are me mentor .. and you and Zac and the dogs are too sweet and nice people .. big hug and thank to you so much from Norway ..
I remember back in the late 80's, early 90's, a friend of the family was a traveling nurse. She explained how she had a base hospital, but when other hospitals were short-staffed, she would go work for them. As I got a bit older and had a few stays in hospitals, I saw the nursing shortage first hand. I have my own channel, where I have talked about my journey with chronic illness, although I haven't been strict with myself on uploading. You've given me some ideas! I don't want to just be a vlog channel, I never really wanted that. I want others to know my story so they don't feel alone. I didn't get diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome until I was in my mid 40's! That's not right. Dr's should be listening to patients, and patients should know what they can do to be heard.
Hi Maggie! I am a former bedside nurse of 27 years. I had to leave bedside nursing due to a shoulder injury. In life there are many seasons and this is a season of change for me. I am now looking at jobs that are not physically demanding. I feel blessed that nursing offers so many opportunities! I really enjoy your content! ❤🤗
@@jenniemichienzie8463 I am a sorry to hear you were injured. It is a life changing experience. I am looking at chart review or case management. My first love is pediatrics, so I am also looking at early intervention or home care for infants. Good luck in your job search!👩⚕️👩⚕️🤗🤗
I've been a bell notified sub for a few years, but now have severe stomach/bowel problems. What I know already I've learned from you before my own issues. Thank you, Maggie for not only this video, but for sharing even the most intimate details of your journey. 💐❤️
Maggie, I'm curious if u had considered being an ostomy/woc nurse? Do u feel it's less stressful than other types of nursing? It's something I've considered myself (as a former rn w an ostomy), but my health is too unpredictable to commit to that atm, unfortunately. Your story is incredible and I always find strength after viewing your videos 🤗
As a peer to peer counseling member for new Crohns patients I fully understand your experiences as they mirror many of my own. Looking forward to part 2 of this adventure. Take care Maggie. PS: Zak did you score a new Raptor yet? 😀👍🏻🇨🇦
I was an Early Childhood Educator I’m in Canada so we work with children 12 months to 6yrs. I graduated highschool in 2013 and college in 2015 it’s a 1yr program but took me 2yrs due to my health. I never worked full time due to my health I was always on disability, in Canada you can still work some. In 2017 my health started to decline I went from 2-3 days a week to 2hr 2 days a week. Then between 2017-2020 I have 3 abdominal surgeries. I tried to go back to work actually last week, the first week on the job 2 3hrs shifts I cough a common head cold but I got so sick I landed in hospital home today. I’m not immunocompermised and can’t work in that field, kids are always sick. I can’t work more than a few hours a week for my mental health so I’m not sure what’s next for me. I was born without an esophagus from the back of my throat down, at 6hrs old I had a surgical j-tube placed, I was also born with mild gastroparesis. I had 9 surgeries to make an esophagus feeding tube out at 5yrs old. I had stroke at 2yrs old in surgery and severe asthma a 2yrs. Fast forward to teen years. I have severe lung disease on hospice until a new medication was available. S curve and a twist scoliosis needed my spine fused C3 to L4, and chronic pain that started at 8yrs old. Adulthood I was diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Central Widespread Pain Syndrome, Osteoporosis. I have my j-tube placed in 2017, my g-tube placed in 2020 to drain my stomach as it’s now completely paralyzed, and my port in 2022. I have chronic pneumonia and 32% lung function. Im a mess
How lovely that you worked as much as you did. God bless you for continuing to fight and carry on. I will keep you in my prayers as well. Wish I could do more.

Just wondering if you might be willing to reach out to a fellow youtuber? Tiffany of Tiffanythinks has gone through life altering cancer surgery; and while it's not IBD, she could probably use some positive support from someone like you. I find you to be quite amazing and such an inspiration!
Having stomach pain for the last couple of hours, and here’s my sweet Maggie…someone who 100% understands ☺️
