As a volunteer on a health-related help line, I hear the challenges people encounter when they or a loved one are living with a serious medical condition. I also know the challenges that arose for my family when my parents faced terminal illnesses. These life experiences were the impetus for my decision to become a board certified patient advocate. I think this video highlights the spectrum of stressful and sometimes difficult-to-grasp issues that independent patient advocates can handle for their clients. The services can remove heavy burdens from patients and their families at a time when they already are under a tremendous strain.
As a registered nurse turned brain tumor survivor who knew the healthcare system, I needed an advocate to help me find the care that saved my life. After this experience, I am convinced that when you are in a complex healthcare crisis/situation, having an advocate can save your life.
Absolutely. Your comment gave me goosebumps and my family and I are currently in this situation for my father, who is fighting for his life. I pray that no one ever needs to face our healthcare system.
Insurance companies have no stake in the wellbeing of their clients. Their job is to milk as much money out of the system as they can, while paying for as little healthcare from physicians as possible to keep that money.
Actually their interest is saving money. That’s the rub. It’s more economical to screw the patient than the hospital because one can afford to litigate more effectively. I’ll leave you to guess which one.
We need universal healthcare, no one should be make a profit off of someone's health. Having universal healthcare is cheaper (via taxes) than whatever your health insurance premiums are right now. Fact.
Though I don't necessarily disagree with you that we need to change the way insurance works in this country. Nobody on earth knows how much universal healthcare in America would cost because it doesn't exist yet. Fact.
We can't have that if illegals keep coming to the us in mass and we're pumping in truckloads of cash into NATO, the army protecting the weak eu and into the un. The only reason European countries can have free healthcare is because they barely have an army by spending little Into it and have a lesser population. I agree, we should have universal healthcare by letting China become the world's policeman while we cut 60% of the funds Into our military and abandon our bases.
As someone who has experienced both systems I can tell you universal healthcare has its problems. For one there’s no patient choice. Here under a private system you have input on your therapy and doctor. That doesn’t exist in national health care systems. You get what you get. No choice. Also if there’s a long wait time under government heath care you die. No going to another doctor. Given the choice between the two systems and being a survivor I would rather go broke and be free to choose my therapy and surgery than role the dice on something the government chose for me. Nether is perfect but when my life is on the line I want to be in charge regardless of the cost. Trust me bankruptcy is a small price to pay for freedom.
And as a Pharmacist....might as well become a patient advocate. After all, I didn’t spend 10 years in school, get a doctorate studying everything and more than this basic step-latter therapy just to get bulldozed by an industry that could care less about saving costs. I do this on a daily basis and get paid less. Thanks for letting me know! God bless the patient advocates!
I am a patient advocate. I work for patients. My fee is $0.00. I don't charge any fees. I challenge doctors, hospitals and health care providers. I have been instrumental in major investigations into healthcare providers.
I am person with complex and chronic health issues. I have been looking for a patient advocate and I'm wondering if you are still offering your services for patients at no charge? Are you in the United States?
WOW! Very Nice! The need for Patient Advocates is intensifying as our healthcare system become more and more complex and I am excited to be a part of such a great allegiance group of PA's!
Patient advocates are nothing new. I had one back in the mid 90s when I had cancer. The hospital (city of hope) actually provided them for free of charge as a way of reducing lawsuits and to help patients access all possible resources. It’s a win win. Free market solution at its best. My patient advocate made sure I was in charge and that all my rights were respected.
There are a few advocates in Canada. Check out advoconnection.com, click on "find an advocate" in the menu. You will be able to search based on location to see if there is anyone near you. Good luck!
I encourage anyone who wants to learn more about patient advocacy to go to aphadvocates.org - or if you need an advocate, advoconnection.com - and for more about insurance advocacy, go to my website, kazadvocate.com. Knowledge is power!
Metis Advantage these aren't people acting in the role of doctors. They are charging people up to $400/HR to circumnavigate the paperwork and phone calls. If I am being honest I think doctor's charge too much as well. I feel like it has been well documented that costs sky rocketed with the invention of insurance.
If a doctor trying to help a patient is not taking advantage of a bad situation, why do you deem a patient advocate, who is trying to help the patient, as someone who is taking advantage.
Metis Advantage I think my answer was pretty clear the first time. Providing a service to a patient, fine. Charging up to 400/HR for this service, not fine. IMO at that point you are just goughing people who are in a desperate situation. Similar to some doctors.
Are you a new company? I've tried looking you up through your TH-cam channel, but the website you have in your video descriptions doesn't work. Where are your advocates based?
Often second careerists from the insurance industry or the healthcare profession, they're independent contractors hired by individuals to help navigate the system to save time, money, and to connect them to resources or specialized care. I have made a huge impact and have helped every single one of my clients either get the care they wanted or avoid overpaying for services. In every case, my fees were an incredibly small portion of the benefits that they derived. I don't know how this could be described as being a "con-artist".

This is so amazing and necessary!! I worked in healthcare for YEARS! I tried my best to help patients whenever I could 💛
If only every patient advocate performed and had the same mindset as these.

A very compelling story about how Health and Patient Advocates are having a real, positive impact for patients.

What we need are grants so that PA can get paid and help those in need for cheaper pricing and/or free.

Paying $75-$400 per hour to someone to help you navigate your healthcare because the whole system is so bad. MURICA.
Those are generic numbers
it is kinda crazy that people have to resort to this!!
@@eatfastlive2870they play a major role in making the healthcare mess easier for us
I feel like I could enjoy a job like this.
Remember- The only first world nation to not have universal healthcare as an option
lmao typical America. Creating a business to help pay a different one.
Comes down to money. Either u have it or not. You can have insurance, but most Americans can't pay the deductibles.
God bless that woman 💯💯🙏🏽💯
great video

Now the pt advocates at hospitals are different than independent patient advocates. The IPAs are more for the patient versus the hospital.
it's better to pay higher taxes! it seems like americans dies becuase they cant afford it😂😂 ( Greatest Country ON EARTH )
I need a patient advocate in Canada demanding I NEED these tests / medicine for my chronic pain.

all these jobs dealing with paperwork is why they don't change anything
Like a lawyer, Health care guide
So are you a private practice LLC or do you work for a company?
They do good work but, damn, 70$ per hour?!

Is this just an ad? Seems like there is an endless supply of people willing to take advantage of people in bad situations.
So, is a doctor who charges a fee for treating an ill patient taking advantage of the situation???

If you see a liberal advocate for Universal Healthcare, Tell them to see how great Canada’s Services are.
So how do you find a good patient advocate? 🤔
Too bad I can't afford this help. I feel that they just want to kill me
BIRPL❤❤❤❤

More con-artists on top of con-artist.

I hope you never need the healthcare system and need to face it alone!
you are sadly uneducated in the field
