I sang this song the night my fiancé died on 2/22/1988, I was 29 yrs old, living 3000 miles away from my home and family....after the squad came and took him away, I was all alone...and I paced the house singing this song. It was the first thing I could think to do, until I heard from the hospital..this song got me thru it....his family didn't want me to go with the squad, so I could stay behind to keep in touch with his sister who was at home with his young niece and nephew...I still remember that night...he was weary and tired...that was my purpose for being in CA..to bring him some sort of being settled in his life.

When she did her tribute song for those who lost their lives in Los Vegas and other places around the country, I too found myself fighting back tears people are being killed by psychos and terrorists for not having the right color of skin or not serving the same religious beliefs. It's not enough that people died in major 100 year storms this year. Innocent people attending a country music concert were killed for no good reason whatsoever. When will the hatred ever end, and when will the killing stop? We're all the same in the eyes of God. We all bleed the same red blood. Im tired of people killing people. It one thing if you're in the military or a cop. Its your job to keep people safe. Sometimes you have to kill to protect yourself.

A more fitting song could not be found. And that was an amazing rendition of it. I know she is a professional, I could not have gotten through it without bawling profusely. I live in Carrie Underwood's hometown. She has been generous to the town--paying the medical bills of a former classmate who was a deputy sheriff who had a horrible accident. Sadly he died. She funds the animal shelter Happy Paws, paid for band instruments for the students in the high school. Checotah, OK. She was delivered by a Doctor who later became a US Senatorr Tom Coburn. She went to college in Tahlequah, OK and graduated. Great woman.
