If these tiles are only nailed in every 3rd row (or 6th if sticking to building regs), how do they hold up in storm type weather? Considering how many storms we've had in recent months, I would've thought you'd get loads of tiles slipping out.
The small hook over the batten and relying on the weight of the tiles on top just wouldn't give me any confidence in this type of roof.

Roofs with peg tiles are not nailed . They are the same size as the small tiles in this video. I believe what is causing more small tiles to be blown off roofs in storms is the lack off nibs! All off the roof tile suppliers ( Marley, Redland, ) are making tiles thiner and lighter for more profit ! New concrete small tiles are as weak as FU€k due to lack off concrete in them. Sadly due to the modern day building specifications every thing only needs to be guaranteed for 10 years .

Let's see how easy it is when the tiles are flanged, like Marley modern, without breaking the flanges.

How do you do that when they require every row to be nailed?

Exactly the same (the row above was nailed), the tile acts as a a lever to lift the nails out. But if you get really stuck you'd use a saw behind the tile to cut the nail

Is there any way I can fix a slipped slate tile from the inside? It's accessible from the loft and I can reach the tile but can't manoeuvre it properly. Impossible to get a roofer out for such a small job!

I cut some lead and used that, folded over the batten and ensured it was snug.
