Dan your rise and fall production is just amazing. Excellent, I love history but many sources of good info are TLDR :)

Oh, Karen Carpenter. My absolute favorite. I thought of her the instant you said that. I used to go to the library where they had records and headphones (back in the day..'75) and sit and listen to them while I looked at craft books.
Love the episode and all the knitting!! Thank you both!

I was at work listening to your podcast and I laughed so loud when you and Dan said you are old and had a whole conversation about ailments! Well, I just about fell off my chair because my husband and I are starting to do that too. We just turned 60 and we’re at that age I guess. Thanks for such great knitting content and fun.

I think those Refresher bigger round sweets from the 80's were called Flying Saucers , with the sherbert fizz in the middle - certainly that pinky yarn reminds me of the Flying Saucer sweets

The Reading Shawl is absolutely gorgeous! From the colors to the picot edge!! and highly functional! Karen Carpenter, one of my favorites and effortless singer! I remember watching a movie about her life and her food addiction to stay thin, due to her emotional life with her mother. At least that's what I got out of it. A great loss for sure. The Rise and the Fall , such interesting stories, you can picture all of it! All of it entertained on my Friday Nite!!

Thank you for another wonderful episode! I always enjoy getting to watch your episodes on Saturday mornings. I absolutely love The Reading Shawl, Kay! It looks so cozy & lovely. Dan, there are actually only 28 chapters in the book of Matthew. You mean to reference Matthew, Chapter 25, verse 35: “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me...” It’s always such a treat to be able to see the beautiful sites you show. Thank you for all the time you put in to your shows! ~Amy

Hi Amy! Thankfully I referenced it correctly in Episode 6, as you guessed I mixed up the chapter and verse on what was a rather warm day. Best wishes, Dan

Your pinky purple sock reminds me of a gum we used to have here in Canada called Thrills . It used to be funny when we would offer a piece to someone because we could say , " Do you want a thrill?".

My daughter is also an avid reader and reads so fast! I used to read alot but have now converted that time to knitting. I have often wondered about the books she reads because I don’t have time to pre-read to check the content. And as you pointed out, you can not trust the age recommendations. So what’s the solution?

There's a big issue with book publishing companies having got rid of the "Teenage" range, and moving the "Young Adult" section from age 18-24 down to age 13-17 instead. So whilst YA authors are often still writing books for the proper YA age of early 20's, publishers and marketers are selling them to young teens instead. Often with these inappropriate consequences. ❤❤

The only positive thing that came out of Karen Carpenter's death was the awareness given to the sickness of anorexia and mental health issues. I was at an impressionable age, professionally performing and always worried about keeping my weight down. It made me realize if it could happen to her, a literal angel on earth, it could happen to anyone.

Great episode as always. Thank you. That wool fibre is a great natural alternative to polyester filling for stuffing animals (not machine washable though). I follow a woman on Instagram who makes mohair bears and she uses wool fibre for stuffing. Her brand is Woollenhearted, because her bears have hearts of wool. 🧶🧸
