    I have a 5e3 clone with the normal 6V6 power section, and a Jupiter LC 12 speaker. I mostly rehearse with my neighbor who plays piano. I used it the same way you (different pedals), but I have a Dr Z attenuator to knock it down to living room volumes. Even then I have really thread the needle with putting the volume up past 1.5? 2/2.5 in-attenuated would probably be a pretty nice sweet spot live?
    The harmonic content is freaking amazing from the “Tweed” style circuit, and rolling the volume off when pushing a little with a pedal yields incredible results. Really makes a great pedal platform, when used like this, and of course, has legendary OD sounds on its own.
    Maybe some day I’ll play in a band again, and would be able to see if it had enough ‘gas in the tank’ to hang?

      That’s great hear. I’m sure the attenuators makes a great difference especially with the 6v6s. Using the bigger tubes in this it really wants to be turned up to a sweet spot. I love 6v6s they are a great tube with just the right amount of power and eq curve. I’m tracking with it currently and it’s in An isolation room. Has to be turned up to 3. Pretty loud😁

    This is the best demo video I’ve heard. I love your playing style. Your rig sounds awesome! I subscribed. Now I’m going to look for that amp. Tweed amps are a new territory for me. I recently bought two Tweed Champ style Amps with additional features. One is 5W the other 15W. I love the sound of this amp your demonstrating. Off to check out price and availability.

      Awesome! I’ve been using mine for gigging and rehearsal for several years now. With the ability to put larger power tubes in it’s very versatile. They are also pretty affordable used.

    Subscribed! You have great taste in gear for optimal tone. I also use the Vemuram Jan Ray . I had a buster years ago and let it go as I opted for more of a blackface tone with onboard reverb. Now I am coming full circle since I have evolved as an electric guitarist.

      @@joeriffanucci I'll bet that's a cool guitar! I am trying to decide whether to try a Two-Rock Studio Signature 1x12 Combo or go back and revisit a Loius Columbia or Deltone. Learning to the Columbi or the Two-Rock. The Louis is a lot less $$ however.

    • @joeriffanucci
      @joeriffanucci  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve yet to get into the Two Rock even though I love their tone. I’ve been working with Gjika amps for about 15 years. They are pretty incredible. I also have been getting into FYD Amps locally. Various single ended 1x12 combos with a very usable amount of headroom. If you look on my guitar amps playlist I think they are in there. I tend to just do shorts when I’m there trying freshly made amps.

      This one came with a 70th anniversary g12H 30 watt. It’s nicely broken in so I’ve left it. My Columbia has a Jupiter which is a little more the vibe.

    Do you still find room for your Haas Luxolite or does this little guy do it all for you? Sounds fantastic, I recognize the 5E3 tones but sounds more useable than my luxolite was for me.

    • @joeriffanucci
      @joeriffanucci  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question there. I prefer this for the added low end response but the Haas is worthy of a demo/comparison. The warm boxy mids are in both.

    Sounds great! I love the idea of the 5e3 but have often worried that it wouldn't have enough juice to gig with a drummer. What do you think about this one? Can it be done?

    • @joeriffanucci
      @joeriffanucci  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely think it can be done. I actually use this amp in Morning Giants. Just enough power with the 6L6s subbed in.

    Sounds great. Between this and the Columbia which one do you like best, and which one takes pedals better?

    • @joeriffanucci
      @joeriffanucci  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one. They both are great in different applications. I think the lack of reverb and vibrato in the Buster makes it better for"heavier" sounds not quite as bright. But the Columbia shines in all classic tele and strat applications. Either can be made do great things.

      Not bad at all at lower headroom. I use it a club level with 6L6/5881 but it can be way more manageable with the 6v6s and using a low gain input. I haven’t even tried jumping channels yet. So I’d say more 5e3 volume.
