Hey man, beautiful execution on your video! You detailing your knob settings on both the guitar and the amp is something we all need more of in these type of videos and a lot of the so-called “pros” we watch don’t ever do that. So mad respect! Subscribed 🤟🏼
Subscribed, another great video. The Tweedle Dee schematic that I have, from what I can see has the tone control do boost and cut on one channel, and cut only on the other, does that sound right for what you built? Also, wondering if you left in the 3-way negative feedback as you're playing it in this video? Also, you seem to REALLY like this amp, do you think that much of the sound is the Cathodyne driver and the zero feedback around the OT? The vast majority of Fender amps have the long tail phase splitter and feedback around the OT as I'm sure you know.
You mention building a high power version of this amp. You might want to take a look at the data sheets for the 7027A (a 6L6GC type tube) that lists a 44W cathode biased amp. 4K primary OT, 200 ohm cathode resistor, 420V supply. Also, the 5E8A tweed twin is one of the few Fender 6L6 based amps that I know of with a cathodyne PI that might be interesting to look at.
What speaker did you go with? I didn't like my 5E3 much until I rolled in a CRex. That took so much of the fizz/flap away and reshaped the mids. I'd love to do a Tweedle Dee rebuild, though. Yours sounds so, so good. I'm hearing more compression than mine has, and a sweetness that I didn't think the amp could do.
The Deluxe Reverb is a very different beast! Check out Rob Robinette's AB763 mods page... he has most of the common mods listed in detail. Alexander Dumble's AB763 mods are still partly a mystery... there is some info out there, but almost none of his modified amps have been documented publically.
I did stick a bandmaster OT in there and the PT is holding up just fine... it's one of the older mission PTs and I haven't been able to find documentation to see exactly how much current it's supposed to be rated for on the HT windings, but it doesn't get frying pan hot and the amp is crazy loud if you want it to be.
Very cool demonstration and breakdown! I was fortunate enough to acquire a similarly modded 5e3 this past year. Really, really liking what I can get out of it. Your tones seem to be pretty similar with the various settings you've illustrated. Curious what speaker you are using, and also what preamp tube (12ay7 or 12ax7)? Per the info I've read from the builder/modder of my amp (handle is Muchxs on the TDPRI forum), 12ax7 is apparently what type is intended with his "D" mod. I've used both types and have achieved excellent results with both (12ax7 gainier, of course). Thank you for taking the time to make this! Looking forward to more as you go through your experience. Subscribed.
I have 12ax7 tubes in the preamp and a Warehouse ET65. Lately, I have been playing it quite a bit with 6L6 and a solid state rectifier... I'm make a video about it soon, but basically it get's a bit more clean headroom that with the 6V6 setup.
So you are the type of guy on Marketplace that makes arrangements for a sale or trade and backs out at the last minute after negotiations. Disappointing, my friend.
That was really nice to listen too mate, your commentary and playing are exceptional. Cheers bro

Sounds really nice! I love my heavily modded 5E3 and use it all the time.
Thanks man!! The big important question... is it still in the cake pan?
@@BirdsnakeBrown Of course! The cake pan is half the tone at least!
@@KleyDeJong lol 🤣that sought after vintage cake pan tone that you can't get with modern cake pans.
Glad I found your channel! You have a new subscriber! Cheers!
Great tones! 🔥
outstanding tone.......
Getting some killer tone there!

This is dope
What speaker are you currently using in this amp? Sounds great!
Flayvin! 🤓
The volume knob demo was an educational gem for everyone born after 70

Who makes this amp? 🔥

What speaker is in this?
I would like to here you play with your amp in a live band setting this would give me a proper value.
Hey bro I need your help
I want that shirt. BTW thanks for the vid.
I got it from Antique Electronics... www.tubesandmore.com/products/T-shirtsgifts
Whats your favorite amp you own?
👍👍👍
Any deluxe reverb mods?

A bigger OT won’t get you more wattage if the PT can’t deliver the required current.

Try to jumper channels, I get noticeable differences

Does not sound that different from the original one. Mostly brighter bass.
I like you
