I am always weary of self improvement content but yours actually helps me. There's no overpriced courses, no "depression isn't real, just clean your room" bs, no toxic positivity bs, no "everything in your life is 100% your fault" bs. You take self improvement seriously and the wisdom you share is real. This goal setting system sounds great and I'll definitely try it for my current goals. Thanks a lot for doing what you're doing and good luck with your second book!!

I think the "Why haven't you done it yet" can be a bit of an overwhelming question which tend s to trip up many people (myself included, initially).

Hi Struthless I doubt you will see this but I just wanted to say thank you for the videos you make. disingenuous Self improvement TH-camrs have plagued the platform and it's hard to come by helpful, genuine creators like yourself. 100's of thousands - millions of people appreciate your work even if like me, they don't always leave comments, appreciate it. Thanks man.

I think your use of AI is exactly how artists, real artists, need to use it. It’s a sounding board, something to inspire and jump off of, and not an actual full solution to creative problems.
This is cool. I might give it a shot, as some of my goals this year are very nebulous lol

God must have a sense of humor because I was legit crying myself to sleep last night, feeling so overwhelmed, defeated, and purposeless. Feeling too far down the hole to climb out of it. And then this video pops up? I almost didn't click on it because most self-help youtubers feel out of touch. But this video was exactly what I needed today

The AI prompt really floored me, man. It was wild how good it was at giving goal-specific advice. It's clear you poured a lot of your wisdom into it because a lot of it made sense, and even had a healthy dose of your personality in there! I've been a huge fan of your methods for as long as I've known about you... they really resonate with me. Can't wait to take this with me as I tackle 2024!

I've been wanting to meditate and exercise more and I've adopted a strange strategy to help with that: Floor time. No matter how I feel, every single day I will lay on the floor. That's it, that's the goal. I will not get back up until I feel like I've accomplished Floor Time properly. On a good day I immediately go into yoga and meditation and might follow up with one of my more intensive exercise options like weight lifting. On a bad day, I will lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling, notice how shitty my body feels, and think, "Well, I'm here, I may as well stretch out my joints. I can do some deep breathing too, that doesn't take much extra energy." Sometimes, it wakes me up a bit and I'm able to properly get into whatever I'm doing. Sometimes I am just genuinely, truly not feeling it because I have absolutely no energy, might be sick, whatever. On those days, I let myself do the bare minimum. I know that if I Push Through like all the motivational speakers say to do, I'll burn myself out and start to associate Floor Time with Pain Time and I'll want to stop doing it. The key is that even when I feel like absolute garbage and am realistically not doing anything that actively drives me towards my goals, I am still maintaining the routine that will get me there. I don't have the shame or anxiety of 'falling off'. I laid on the floor, I listened to my body, my body said no, but I still laid on the floor. It keeps up the habit of putting myself where I physically and mentally need to be every day to make it happen on my better days.

    • @wa5657
      @wa5657 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

🤝 reading it on the floor, mate
at first I was trying to do exercises everyday, but of course I started to slack off, and now when I have a shitty day I know that at least I can relax my spine and slow down the world a bit while lying down
      floor is a nice place

I lose my grandad last year, and grief definitely makes you panic about time and what to do with it amongst other things. Just want to say a massive thank you, for these videos. Your videos give so many, the tools to help change our mind sets. Dig deeper, but with a mindful that helps. As an over thinker, who finds it hard to focus they are great for making it more digestible. These videos are such a great resource. Hope this is a better year for us all. 🙏

Also, your ability to talk about screw ups and failures and recoveries and mistakes really resonates with me too. A lot of channels only cover “top ten tricks”, and don’t talk about the hurdles that come up. Thank you thank you!

I really appreciate the video even though I'm still likely to struggle with figuring out an actual clear goal for a while. My 2023 was both amazing and absolutely horrible. I met the love of my life, went traveling on my own for the first time, met some amazing people and made great memories. Then maybe about a month after I got back from my vacation I lost my father to depression. Our relationship was incredibly strained for the past year as well because of childhood trauma and my parents finally going through with the divorce that they needed. I never got to say goodbye though or received the apology I felt like I was deserved. That was back in October and I still don't think I'm fully over it, definitely not enough to properly interact with the outside world yet. My heart goes out to you, losing someone suddenly fucking sucks.
It's nice though to feel like I'm not completely alone, the piles of trauma I have feel like they just keep getting more and more tangled the more I try to undo them. I've been to an amazing therapist but she just costs too much for me now at this point. I know you're not licensed but I really appreciate you doing these videos. You make me feel like it's not as hopeless as it seems sometimes. Even though I struggle to genuinely implement anything helpful in my life I still have the comfort in not feeling crazy or lazy even for not getting anywhere. That easy path in my brain is so smooth it's practically a waterslide. Things like this help me sit back for a moment and just breathe, try and help get my thoughts in order so I can try again.
Thank you for all that you do, best wishes to you and your family

Mate, I'm 21, been watching your videos for like a week, and it is having a PROFOUND effect on the way I see my life.
All I've wanted for the last few months is to move myself closer to the life I want. Financially, creatively, all that stuff.
I'm sick of reading books and watching videos that tell me "You do have the time, you're just not doing anything with it" and sitting there with rings around my eyes at the end of a day feeling like I JUST haven't ticked enough boxes, or eaten enough frogs, or feeling enough fear or changing enough about anything.
My life is feeling like a sliding puzzle recently. In order to get to what I want to do/finish/work on, I have to put out five other fires, move loads of shit out of the way, and then when I finally get round to it I have no energy to get started. It's fundamentally draining. Seeing people like you putting out videos all the time and at such high quality whilst I take months and months and months to put out one 8-minute highlight video is a real kick in the teeth, especially when I compare where I am to where you came from and tell myself I've got it easy.
it's not about the amount of water you're drowning compared to that of other people. It's about the fact that you're drowning. Thanks for that tidbit Cameron :)
Off the back of your content, I'm going to try and set myself up better for progress, and try to make it easier for me to get started on things.
    Thanks for existing boss.

Omg, I so rarely comment on videos, but I have to say I was blown away back that AI tool. That was so helpful, especially the action plan. Makes me hopeful about the future and the wonderful things we will make with this technology. Thank you for sharing it, and for all the really practical tips you have shared in your videos.

Hi Struthless! I cannot tell you how much your video and tool came at the perfect time. I was just job hunting a while ago after being afraid to do it for a year and I could feel my anxiety creeping up again. Feelings inadequacy came up as they usually do but your tool really helped me put myself back together again. You are an amazing human being and I hope to help others like you do someday.

thank you for your videos, they really help me. a lot of people are writing how much you help them and i wanted to join in. often, i don't give enough appreciation to people or things i love but i just wanted to tell you that you are great, your videos made my life much better and i'm still struggling with goals and structure and all that stuff but i'm gonna work on some stuff right now because you gave me motivation. i wanted to go to sleep because for me it's really late but idk, it's always a balance between having a good time to sleep versus working more.

So sorry for your loss man. In 2022 I lost a dear friend in February, followed by a second even dearer friend in July, followed by a third in September, 5 days before I was due to have a surgery that was meant to be an overnight stay in hospital but went wrong and had me there two weeks, finally topped off by witnessing my brother in law die graphically in a freak accident in our front garden a week after I got out of hospital. It’s been a whole year since all these tragedies unfolded in such a short space of time and I’m still not doing too well. Spent years in therapy from 13 years old to almost being discharged as I was finally on top of all my past traumas and then 2022 happened and since then I’ve been in a whole new form of hell I never could have imagined and it’s so hard to know how I could ever get back to where I was before all that tragedy. But anyway that’s a whole lotta dark stuff, despite all that pain I’m still here and still trying my hardest and sure it’s fucking agony at times but I am lucky to have a beautiful 3 year old son who I have to be strong for and that is a blessing I couldn’t begin articulate the importance of. I’ve always found so much comfort in your content because I feel we have eerily similar lives, views and interests as well as troubles so I feel I relate to you heaps and I’m so sorry that now we can relate on loss. You’re a huge inspiration to me and clearly so many other people and you give such a huge breath of fresh air from the day to day hell that life can be so thank you so much for all that you do. Even if you don’t meet your own standards sometimes, you’re absolutely killing it compared to many and most, and you have so much to be proud of. Thanks so much for all you do you man of many talents 🙏 much love and may 2024 be better to us all because we could all do with a f*cking break lol

Personally, for me last year went it okay but my resolutions didn't go as well as such as reading more books and staying off social media but I feel I did well with socializing more and hanging out with friends and it's one that I've been trying to apply more and more as the years have gone on and I hope I can continue with that.

Sorry about your friend Cam, that's a pretty tough thing to have to handle :/💙 Tbh doing anything after something like that is impressive, so definitely take it easy. Life isn't always consistent enough to plan for, so there's no shame in slowing down for a bit. If it's a struggle to keep goals, perhaps prioritize them differently and let some things slide for a bit, at least until you start feeling well enough that it doesn't feel too "heavy" to handle anymore. If you can't be "productive", aim for grace instead. Maybe it will be a hard time, but showing yourself grace does more for healing then beating yourself up does. Perhaps it could become a lesson in how to be kinder to yourself, or delve into why productivity is so important that you would feel shame for not being that way all the time, even when circumstances do not allow for it (what your values are + where you originally got them from, and if it is valuable to keep them or not, or in what situations).
I hope you can hold the space and time to grieve + heal well, and I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you made their life better and they were happy to have known you while they were around, just like you were happy to have known them~

fyi, you helped so many people with your first book, all because of what you had to say and your journey in life. I’m sure that you’ll help and inspire people with the book your writing. I read your book when I had a massive burnout, and reading your book and journal exercises where the first steps I took in recovery. 2 years later and im weirdly enough grateful I even had a burnout, because I’ve grown so much over the past 2 years and feel more fulfilled and happier. Consider this some motivation hehee :)
