Exploring Gomorrah

  • In this video I examine the ashen ruins near Masada and the Dead Sea in Israel. Some believe these are the remains of Gomorrah, which God destroyed with fire and brimstone for their wickedness. Some of the structures in this area exhibit straight walls and ninety-degree corners. Balls of nearly pure sulfur ("brimstone" in the Bible) have been found embedded in the walls, and this type of sulfur has been found nowhere else on earth except in this region (including other ashen cities in the area--the Bible says that five cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone). In the first century, the historian Flavius Josephus said that the "traces or shadows of the five cities are still to be seen." While some of the ashen walls have disintegrated, much remains. Recently I learned that the chemical composition of the ash is the result of sulfur being burned with limestone rock (a common building material used even today in Israel, of which the old city walls of Jerusalem are comprised). While I did not come across any sulfur balls myself, many others have, and you can find their videos here on TH-cam. Personally, I do believe this is one of the cities mentioned in Genesis which was destroyed by fire and brimstone, although I would be interested in hearing any alternative explanations for the apparently human design of the walls, the balls of brimstone embedded in them, and the ashen composition of the city.

Yes but i don’t think those are remnants of the ancient cities. They look like sediment layers which are caused by the receding water during a flood. They are found all Over the world. proving The worldwide flood. The cities were buried in sulphur and fire. Because of the time that it happen any remains would be underground. Most ancient ruins are underground anyways as archeologists dig them up. so maybe there needs to be people on site and dig up. Or scan the area for metals and pottery or anything that might of survived 6,000 degrees of blue fire.

When I was at Masada, I thought of David there, on top of the tower of refuge, a strategic point looking out for King Saul (before the tower became known as Masada) casting his eyes on the cities of death then as now standing pillars of ash, then looking onwards down the ‘valley’ to Ein Gedi the pastures green. Reminds me of Psalm 23.

No problem, use whatever screen shots you like, and you don't have to credit me with them. Actually, I was in Israel again last year and searched in a different area a few miles south of this place. And I actually found hundreds of sulfur balls there (near the entry road to the Masada visitor's center). If I get around to it, I may put together a video of that. As for the location in this video, I returned there as well, and again I didn't find a single sulfur ball, so I tend to doubt that these are the remains of Gomorrah. There's so much I still don't know, though, so I can't say with certainty whether these could be the remains of the walls.

    • @MaddieSchnitzel
      @MaddieSchnitzel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ok, but why are the layers so perfectly aligned? Normally sediment is aligned like that for several layers, and then there's another set of layers laying in a slightly different direction. These here are ALL equally parallel.
Also, why is there ash in the rocks while other rocks outside this plain do not contain it?
Also, what about the balls of sulfur?
I'm all for scientific explanation as religion and science are not opposites, but what about explaining the issues i have pointed out? Where does all that come from?

It starts at 1:28- 2:01. Is it just a trick of light and nature. If not, I would like to know if it was carved out just recently, or around 3900 to 4000 years ago.

These are not the remnants of a city but of a former fortified and guarded terraced hill line of the kind you can still see in Southern Italy, where mountain flanks have been made regularly terraced to enable gardening and surveillance, which does correspond to the biblical description of the country surrounding Gomorrah which was said to have been a lush and well-tended oasis with a gentle micro-climate. Assembled walls of stones as can compose a city cannot have withstood the temperatures that have turned these former terraced hills into anyons of ash still standing. There are remnants of former cities destroyed by fire but all you can see is heaps of ash that are now mounds, though the former plans and foundations can still be unearthed. Tell el Hammam is one of them though it is one of the five cities that was destroyed, not necessarily Sodom. The destruction was very probably caused by a small asteroid of sulphur that crumbled upon entry in atmosphere into a bombardment of meteorites.

Sorry to refute what this video says about the location of Sodom and Gomorrah. It is quite wrong.
Read Genesis 13.3. It says that Abraham and Lot were between Bethel and Ai.
    Then read Genesis 13.8-11.
That says that "Lot lifted up his eyes and saw the plain of the Jordan, that is was well watered like the garden of the Lord. Like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. "
Then it says "Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east."

Look at your bible map. The location of Bethel and Ai is well known and has been excavated.
If you look East, the direction that Lot went, from Bethel and Ai you come to the large plain of the Jordan.
The site for Sodom is therefore north of the Dead Sea and Sodom must be on the plain of the Jordan.
The plain of the Jordan is Like the "land of Egypt". Meaning the Jordan river valley is a river delta that floods every year and creates a great source of land good for growing food.
Another point is that Genesis also notes that the "plain of the Jordan" is like the "garden of the Lord".
What is the Garden of the Lord? That would be Eden where one river enters and many rivers. So Eden also had a river delta, a river that split into many smaller rivers.
Lot going East from Bethel and Ai puts Sodom at the North end of the Dead Sea. Not at the south end of the Dead Sea. It puts Lot on the well watered plain of the Jordan, north of the Dead Sea.
Again, not at the south end of the Dead Sea.
I am hoping to go there next year myself. Imagine being on a dig with talks every night from different experts on many subjects! And day trips to many sites around Jordan.
Can't wait! Hope to see you there!
