Sri Lanka is for all and hope the next president will encourage people to travel to and from Sri Lanka. There should be free movement for all people like there was in the 500 BC as in 467 BC king pandukhabya made sure the 1/4 of the city was dedicated for Greeks.

Srilankan Baila is derived from many cultures within Srilanka there is hint of Portuguese and Srilankan influences. Unfortunately Baila is used as a blanket term to describe any Srilankan music with a 3/4 beat. The 3/4 beat that Srilankans and most folk musician in the country side are used to are more closely related to South Indian and Tamil Dappankuthu or Kuthu folk music rather than African music when you look at the timing and style of play. The timing on the 2 sided at 1.21 drums which is called the dholak/dholki (indigenous to India and Srilanka) is a dead give away on this as I have seen no such thing in Africa itself. I also noticed the Rabana also an indigenous Srilankan instrument it is known by different names in India as well. I know this because I learned and played this style. Africans have a wonderful musical/percussion heritage and mean no disrespect to African's. While it is possible that they contributed to "Baila" in its current form not all music is derived from Africa. The probable influence I see here is their stories and language adapted to the folk style of play commonly seen in rural Srilanka in the paddy fields and tea estates.

@@johonanandrewgomes7593 IN VERY SHORTLY REPLY ! During the Second Word War, the English Army, they built two concentration camps to intern captured enemies, one in Puttalam and the other in Trincomalee. They then decided to hire staff who did not understand the English language so as not to take valuable news out of the concentration camps to any spies.
So they decide to hire the necessary manpower in Mozambique, an African Country where Portuguese was spoken
and also one Neutral Country under control of Portugal.
So arrived the Africans of Puttalam and Tricomalee and with them also their families.
The Africans were then engaged by the British in many jobs on the island. After the English era of Sri Lanka, the African communities did not return in Mozambique.
      All the best Piero

Sri Lankan Sinhalese people are nothing like Africans or Indians or any other race. Sinhalese are a unique race with their own language, culture, beliefs, food etc. The Tamils are obviously very close and similar to South Indians and the muslims are obvious close and similar to the Middle East because the Tamils and Muslims are not natives of Sri Lanka! Sinhalese are the only natives in Sri Lanka!
