In #2 there is a scene where a hover car comes out of the sky, touches down on the ramp and drives by the camera all in one smooth take. Always wondered how they pulled that off. there is a cut scene which shows him disappearing from time, because he's changed his history, the version of him that takes the Almanac back doesnt exist any more
Zemeckis, for his next film, should impose the same, or close to the same, constraints VFX wise that he had on the third Back To The Future. I’m guessing he would make something amazing as he did back then.
No. Your information is just wrong. 1) There was use of miniatures for some scenes. And, sure, you have pictures of a miniature of the train/DeLorean scene, but the fact is it was only a rehearsal. The final scene is using a real train and a real DMC12 (DeLorean). When the stuntwoman is hanging from the train in the medium shots, that is on a real locomotive. In the wide shots where you see both the locomotive and the DeLorean, that is also the real locomotive and the real DMC12. Sure the actress might have been composited into the shot for the wide shots, but since you can't see her face, it is unlikely they would bother as compositing is very expensive. It is just cheaper to rent a real locomotive and attach a stunt person to the side of it. They used a real clock face for the scene where Harold Lloyd was hanging from a clock in the 1923 movie Safety Last. I see no reason why they wouldn't do the same thing here. 2) The picture you have of the camera rig being pushed by the locomotive is only for the closeups of the front of the locomotive. When the DeLorean lifts in the front briefly, that was not using any sort of cables as a DMC12 ways WAAAAAAY too much to make that practical. A DMC12 has a curb weight of ~2700 pounds. Unless you have titanium cable (that didn't exist in 1992), there is no way they could have lifted the front of that car with anything even remotely thin enough to not be scene on screen. The only time they would use miniatures was when a car was hovering. Miniatures are rarely used unless they need to be as it is hard to get the scale to match. This is why, whenever you see a miniature used for a scene with water or fire, they typically composite the water or fire in later. Water does not scale well. Neither does fire. 3) The taxi is both a miniature AND a real prop. In the closeup shots of it, it is an actual vehicle that they designed specifically for the movie. When it flies away they carefully transition to the miniature. The people who worked on the scene confirm this in the special features on the 25th anniversary edition of the DVD box set. In fact, they also show how the hoverboard thing was done. It wasn't the way the pictures you show claim it was. Instead they used chromakey to remove the wheels of the hoverboards. So they first shoot the scene with the actors on regular skateboards with chromakey material attached to the side facing the camera. Then they shoot the scene without the actors in it. Then they composite the two together and remove the chromakey color replacing it with the b roll of the scene.
I have the 30th anniversary edition in Blu-Ray, and it explains the hoverboard effects were obtained in a number of different ways, to prevent viewers to spot "the" trick. - Throwing the hoverboard and making it hover: there were neodymium magnets under the fake pavement, that allowed the board to hover (but only in that specific spot, and only supporting its own weight) - A character riding a hoverboard, legs shown: the actor was hanging from wires - A character riding a hoverboard, full figure shown: the actor was hanging from wires AND the wires were erased digitally - A character riding a hoverboard, shown from head to knees: the actor was riding a normal skateboard Also, the train scene where the Delorean is pushed by the train and its front is lifted, that was a full-scale fiberglass model of a Delorean, light enough to be pulled by wires.
There is a scene in Blade Runner, with a flying car landing in the rain, the scene with the DeLorean landing in the 2nd movie in the rain is very similar just not as dark.

It's very misleading to have a photo of people in green helping to film the train and Delorean miniatures. That was in-camera without opticals. And green screens weren't widely used in the late 80´s since blue was preferred. But I think you just use the image for click bait which may work.
I am a fan of the trilogy as well. I had always found it funny how much they were concentrating on effects, but didn't bother to reshoot the scene in the alley of 2015 when the Delorean lands. The back "vents" of the car are different than any other scene in the movies. These are the vents that usually released all the "smoke" (or CO2?) from the back after time traveling.

Well, that's nice and clear 🤯
Astonishing what technology could do even back then
"Risking everything they have in the present to change the past for a better future" ??? Did you even seen the movie?? I mean if you did , did you understand the idea of it??
After hearing this in the 1st minute of the video...i cannot go further...
Fascinating! Thank you for these insights in the wonderful world of movie making!
Adorei o canal fame focus excelente explicação dos bastidores dos filmes e muito curiosidades sobre eles . 😉👏👏👏👏
M8del Train and mini delirean look so great anyway
Old special effects looked like magic and still do. New cgi always looks fake to me, it Makes me fall asleep during films
Amazing Video, a rare piece for film and VFX Students
Thank you for that video. I love these movies. Great look behind the scenes
That thumbnail is hilarious
Captain Disillusion did an episode on Back to the Future a few years ago which I highly recommend (the video and the channel!)

- Part Two: th-cam.com/video/rhNDsPMaK_A/w-d-xo.html
Also, if you have Netflix, check out their series "The Movies That Made Us" and look for the _Back to the Future_ episode. It's excellent.
Loved them both! Been following The Cap for awhile. Outstanding TH-camr. Well worth the subscribe ^^
@@FameFocus Yep. CD has some of the highest quality content on TH-cam. It's too bad he only uploads about 8 to 10 times a year!
Thank you for making and uploading.❤️
Das Wölfchen
It's very misleading to have a photo of people in green helping to film the train and Delorean miniatures. That was in-camera without opticals. And green screens weren't widely used in the late 80´s since blue was preferred. But I think you just use the image for click bait which may work.
yeah they always use these greenscreen pictures. I often find them hilarious!
I take it you're new to this channel! Look at the thumbnails to all their other videos and you'll get it. 😄
Total Click Bait!
I wonder if Adam Savage has ever thought about building the steampunk train from III.
My favorite movies ever ❤❤❤❤❤
Huge back to the future fan 😈
Amazing.
My Uncle Victor invented the Flux capacitor for the moves and my Uncle Steve Suits, who's name you will find on the credits of the movie for special effects
The narrator sounds like a scientist lol
Still want my hoverboard.
See, great movies can be made with old school methods that come out better than relying on CGI almost 100% of the time.
Awesome bro
This is amazing for its time
2015?.... Here 2021 we can't see flying cars... XD
Oh right. Movie only.
How To Make Changing Future Extremely Safe
1. Invent time machine.
2. Travel to 22nd century.
3. Invent a machine that can change probability to make probability certain that changing future is Extremely Safe Forever.
My favorite sci-fi trilogy… but I’ve always wondered about the original script for the first and second movie before Crispin Gloover were fired…
Awesome vid. I love part 1 and 3 but cant stand part 2 lol
