This review was magical❤️ I got so absorbed by your words that I honestly don’t know when time passed! And yes, I agree, the perfume world needs to stop with how many compliments a perfume gets. I have actually a funny story! This year I got Chanel no5 pure perfume, EDP and Eau Premiere although all I heard from my friends is that is a grandma smell. I went to an event a while ago dressed in No5 and everyone asked me what I’m wearing, you should’ve seen their faces when I said No5!

Dacob! Ive told you before. I send your reviews to my fabulous 80 yr old neighbour who has worn no 5 all her life! I sent her this review. And would you believe it! she ordered (on the internet via click and collect)!!! A pure parfum no 5 from Boots!!! Shes been today to pick it up. She opened the seal and the baudrucharge. And she said it took her breath away. Took her right back to when she used to wear it all those years ago. She was very emotional. Didnt expect it. I'm 17 years old and I wear Chanel N5! I love the original and all it's relatives. When I'm out in public people stop me and ask me what I am wearing, when i tell them it's Chanel N5 they are in shock! This perfume is unbelievable!

What most people fail to understand is that it's not a perfume's goal to make other people's garments drop or get you laid. When talking about perfume, we use verbs like 'to wear' or 'to put on', because a perfume is exactly that: an invisible garment, a set of armor that we put on ourselves in order to transform in whoever we want to be. I am a 29 year old male who wears Chanel No. 5 and whoever has a problem with that can just suck it! xoxo
I can’t really express how SIGNIFICANT seeing this review is for me, particularly in this time of uncertainty, pandemic and global crisis. Because it gives me hope of light at the end of the tunnel; about how we, too, can overcome these disparity times and be better, regardless of what the future will bring. Oh, Dacob, you look amazing today. I have the pure parfum in the 15mil splash and the EDP. I wear this fragrance almost daily, since high school in the 80s, using my mother’s. Now I’m a grandma, wearing grandma perfume, and I’m always complimented by co-workers or whomever gets a whiff. I’ve tried many other fragrances and this will forever be my go to, favorite of all time.

Chanel #5 was the very first perfume I ever received when was 15 ! I will always have it on hand ! It’s the best!
I can see some shade for Jeremy Fragrance hahahahaha... Love his review, it's just that when he reviewed No.5 it was not what I expected. He judged the EDP, whilst its an entire different fragrances.

#Quarantinedandwatch I had to stop the video and put my N5 on. This relaxed me at bedtime, it's like getting a big enveloping hug from my grandmother not in it smells like an older woman, but it gives me all the nostalgia of being loved, the smell makes me float. This fragrance warms my heart and makes me feel rich, refined, and booogie.

Oh, my beloved No. 5 Parfum! I confess to hoarding this beauty and when I wear it, place vintage on one wrist and current on the other. It is the first formulation I ever purchased and still the only one that truly blooms with my skin chemistry. So happy to see this review, Dacob!

Hey Dacob, I don't know where to buy Chanel No. 5 Parfum splash here, in the Philippines. The SA in one of the "few" Chanel stores told me that they don't ship that one and instead sold only the refillable version. I was kinda disappointed since I really wanted to buy that so badly and don't know where to.
I want to order it, but the chanel n5 website only have .25 oz and .5 oz.
Dacob you should do a review on N°5 EDP alone and N°22 EDP alone I would like to see what are you reviews on them now since you’ve made comments before on them
I have made so many videos on the N!5 EDP... from unboxings of individual EDP products to the smell itself. N°22 EDP might get a review though... the formula has been tweeked a bit since 2016.... at least I feel it has...

I have the EDP which I adore and have just received the CHANEL N°5 Factory Body Lotions box (which granted is very small in size but perfect for travelling). I'm addicted to the scent of N°5 - from the hit of Aldehydes to the 30 minutes later of warmth and comfort. I apply late evening and find it so comforting when going to sleep. I understand the imagiary that you ascribed to the notes, I but am baffled by the way you perceive them. Especially the way you see all the bright notes as grey. Everyone else sees citrus and lily of the valley as bright and fresh but you see them as dark grey and menacing. Bizzare !
No I don’t see lily of the valley or citrusses or ylang ylang as grey at all. You misunderstood what I was saying.... they are light... but surrounded by a menacing force. They are not the menace here...

Thats the point: I am trying to convey that specific notes do not always suffice to describe a fragrance. There is so much more than just single notes to a perfume. Time and the historical/political contexts are just as important. So I think now after the hints I have given you, you can imagine what the menace was... A great perfume is so much more than just the ingredients used to make it... xoxo

I purchased so many versions of this. The current one has been reduced to an iris dominant scent. The jasmine and rose are still there but it has been wayyyy toned down and the longevity has suffered. Luckily I have an extremely large collection of the old stuff

Super Dacob it’s not so much that it goes away quickly it’s more like it become a wisp and end up smelling exactly like Prada infusion absolue which I love but already own lol
I just got hold of that refillable spray! It's lovely and luxe packaging, I love how the glossy smooth heaviness of it feels in your hand
Its the best! The actual versions in production today are in lacquered metal

I don't think money makes anything dirty I think humans do, but the beauty of life is that humans can create Chanel 5/ beauty to. I love your channel but sometimes im like: "wtf?"
Money only pays because we give it power! Think deeper Charly, I know you can! You are close! Just like the multi facets of fragrance, money has them too as do we! We invented money. Do not make the mistake of respecting it too much because it is a cage... at times a golden cage but a cage nevertheless. Now mind you, I could not care less what other people think. Their opinions are their own and they can keep them to themselves or start their own channels where they talk about their opinions... but since you took the time to write me, I respect your time and out of respect to you I write you back and tell you that when I release a video with any sort of statement, be sure I gave it the proper thought and a multilateral interpretation palette. Yeah, people usually get shocked when what they like to smell on us turns out to be N°5! LOL!
Still the best when it comes to fragrance reviews, the way he captures the scent in a story telling manner is just amazing, and the historical references made adds much more complexity and refinement to it all. Well done👌🏽💙

I am loving today's outfit. It is very Che Guevera. I think we have seen the shirt before, but the beret gives it a whole new twist. I agree that No5 is totally timeless. As far as the 1920s go, often people tend to romanticise the decade, comparing it as a Golden Age, compared to the depression of 1929 - 1939. At least one radical, however, (me, though there certainly must be others) say that WWII did not begin with the invasion of Poland. It did not begin with Chamberlain's shameful and obscene Munich agreement. It did not begin with Japan's invasion of China. I say that WWI never really ended. We had one World War, with a brief ceasefire of little over two short decades between the two. Though even in the 20s, there were people who were predicting the apocolypse which was about to happen, Churchill being one among quite a few Cassandras. (Apologies for the rant.) I would love love LOVE to smell the very original formulation of No 5. I really need to get the Par Parfum soon. I am glad you managed to get one of the red show bottles. I knew you would manage it. Don't let anyone fool you into allowing 'them' to put a microchip into you. Climate catastrophe is the beginning of the end, but microchips in people is the final end. Thank you for the video.

Thank you for a fabulous video, so detailed and entertaining! I think the opening sniff of No5 puts people off because it is so powerful. You are correct about going on a journey with the scent, because it is so complex. When the perfume 'damps down', you begin to experience the lovely middle notes and that is worth the initial 'oommph' of the opening power. Chanel No5 is so well worth staying with, and don't be put off by the opening power and the aldehydes. It is a true classic!

I wonder if they might recreate the original 180 ingredient parfum. I would buy that!
I highly doubt they would ever do that again, given the current updated laws on certain ingredients not being legal any longer and so on...
I have 30 ml of this beauty. How can I respond to people who say that N5 stinks?
I cannot tell you what you should answer but I can tell you what I answer: "N°5 stinks? Perhaps its you my dear..."
Such a statement doesn’t deserve a verbal response, just a withering look and reapplication of the fragrance.
Marilyn did say that she wore only a few drops of no 5 to bed. But from what I understand she bought every concentration of No 5 available at that time. She also loved to put drops of the parfum in her bath. She spent 50 dollars a week on perfume back in 1955 when she left Hollywood to go to New York City starting her own production company. Omg Dacob I was reading the book 'Marilyn in Manhattan - Her Year of Joy' and thinking how I wish you would read it because it's very beautiful, complex, and complicated and I would love to hear your feelings on it. It talks about her friendships with Truman Capote and Norman Rosten, and so much I think you would love.

Sidenote: Yes fragrance channels can be so....... "One dimensional", and can leave one often thinking " Did he/ she actually say that?", Thank goodness you are multi- dimensional, and a have a wonderful channel.
Anyway, yes, the Battle.. ..Chanel no 5.. Just like no other, I also find myself wanting more, and sometimes I liken that urge to dowse myself in no 5 to an addiction, but then I think its more that "she/ he/ ***" is so hypnotic and I LONG for that dry down so very much, and there just is no other fragrance like that, that has such a magnetic pull for me...I have Perfumes that I love for different reasons, but I always think in my Perfume Vault that Chanel no 5 is the Empress, there are no substitutes. Sometimes I cant Verbalise it, but you do so exquisitely.
I loved your huge red Chanel no 5 Bottle...It is fabulous creatively, culturally, and historically such a poignant piece of fashion/ Perfume pop culture...

I own a vintage N°5 Parfum, but the scent has noticeably faded.
So I still haven’t smelled the genuine Chanel N°5 Parfum in its true form yet.

However ai do believe it has been severely diluted more than it used to be even a few years ago. I love your passion and explanation of history. I hate the other versions (edt and edp)

Does your trick of putting your n5 in the sun also work for the pure perfume? I find it doesn't last longer than 2 hours
Thats a good question. I would not put the PARFUM in the sun. It works wonders for the EDP though. But the PARFUM is meant to be an intimate experience. Its much more delicate than the other concentrations and it stays close to the skin. The most beautiful drydown though...
@@SuperDacob Indeed, it almost has no projection, so I find myself dabbing some on the tops of my palms, (thanks for the tip BTW, dabbing it on my wrists rubs it off too quickly as I have a desk job) and I just sniff it, it's my chanel and I and nothing else matters. I also put some before bed and I fall asleep sniffing it. I've put a substantial dent im telling ya... But as a reviewer on a partcular website thst shall remain unnamed said, life is too short use the chanel!

Just watched France's 2021 entry for the Eurovision Song Contest: Barbara Pavi, Voilá. Watched the official music video and I immediately got transported to your review, with the Beret you are wearing, the old train, the uncertainty, the pain the suffering, the beauty and transcendence! Incidentally I am wearing n.5 parfum today too, sniffing it while watching the video and listening to the song truly moved me to tears as only n.5 parfum can.

My mother still has her Chanel No. 5 EDP 1981 bottle , the pre-reformulation EDP version. Then this year I gave her a Chanel no. 5 15ml pure parfum bottle and she said it's the only version that smells exactly like her 1981 EDP bottle. Fortunately Chanel hasn't changed the original formula of the pure parfum. If they ever do it, it would mean the end of Chanel as a brand to me.

Dacob!!! Just got my hands on a sealed 15ml no 5 parfum for a steal! A couple of years old! First time i will have smelt the pure stuff since i had the refillable sprays in 1998! Wondering how different it will be.

You can just take the wax seal off and then cut the black cord and then peal off the white membrane surrounding the stopper.... and off you go to CHANEL dreamland ...
