The default camp, I think it is the best option! It's free and with a big mix of nationalities instead of mostly just 1 :)

would you recommend to go to sziget at day 1 like you did. Or should i move in 2 days earlier, to get a decent tent spot?
To be honest, I believe that with the amount of stages on the island, there are no decent tent spots ahah. So day 1 is perfectly fine, but if you dont mind paying the extra for the early entrance and then get there before everything starts for real then you might get some shadow for the mornings. I don't recommend it just because personally i wouldn't want to go through the troubles, but it's up to you! :)
Hey! Your videos are awesome and I was wondering, since it will be my first time going this year, if you would recommend for two young girls (18) to pay for special camping since its maybe more secure? And then on the website it says there is space for tents of 2x2 meters (1-2 people) 2x3 meters (3-4 people) on special camping. Our tent is 3 x 2,3 meters do you think its a big problem if it is bigger than those spaces on the website? And has free camping a limitation of space for tents? Soooo, in my opinion, going to the special camping is always a mistake, it is probably just as noisy, filled with mostly only 1 nationality (which is the real down side of it IMO), and it is rather expensive! I haven't been in it personally, but I have always been satisfied with how the open camping works (although I do live in Budapest so I always have the option to go home if I feel like it :p ).
I cannot really tell you if it is that much of an issue for the size of the tent but I would assume these are just guidelines and that no one really looks into it, I could be wrong though! Best is to contact them with the question directly on their website! :)
No size restriction for the open camping that's for sure, apart from your neighbors being the physical delimiter of course! :)
About the safety concern, I honestly felt like that was one of the safest places on Earth, you will get that feeling as soon as you enter the island. Of course, i cannot promise that it is 100% safe as no place in the world is, but I am pretty sure you will be just fine! Up to you if you want the special camping for comfort, I personally do not sleep much when I am there, trying to enjoy as many minutes of it as I can! Because yes, it is 7 days, but somehow it really feels like it is not enough when it is over! :)
Hope you have the time of your life, come back to tell me how it went for you after the festival, I am sure you will tell me that you loved every second of it! :)
PS: if your concern is for your belongings, I usually wake up and bring everything of value to the baggage drop area in the morning, and then go get them before going to sleep. It was very cheap 2 years ago, i am not completely sure but I think last year it was even for free).

hai there. i like ur video it help me alot. as this year for the first time im going to Sziget festival im so excited of course ahhahah but can i ask somethings, u brings ur own camp right? and any restrictions to bring alcohol there?
Happy that i could help! :) Yes you have to bring your own tent (unless you purchased a pre-installed one of course, but judging by your question I guess you didn't). For the alcohol part unfortunately you are not allowed to bring any inside, you can try to sneak it in but the will open every bottle and smell it, so chances are they will just throw your bottle right in front of your face. The best is to get a little drunk outside the festival and to go back inside when you know you'll be able to maintain your tipsiness with beer or another rather cheap beverage ;)

hmm, i would say it's much more worth it to get your own tent that you can re-use later on rather than to buy the pre-made one that (if i'm not wrong) you wont be able to take home with you (this needs to be double checked of course) and all the time you are saving is only the time of mounting/unmounting which nowadays is really not that much of a big deal. If you go for those anyways, they should be available on the sziget website, right next to the tickets under the tab "hotel and glamping". I just checked and those tents seem to be soldout but they have links for the ticket swap option, check it out!

I'm going to the festival this year for the first time , I was just wondering what exactly is the process to get the wristbands ? Do they just look at your passport to confirm your identity, or will they do thorough scans and store your data , is it safe? is it quick ? If you can let me know it'd be very helpful :)
Hi there! :) There are many booths to get your data checked, so it is rather quick, unless you arrive at a rush moment of course (like right before the first mainstage concert everyday for example). They will scan your passport the first day and give you your wristband after that, the other days you will have to show the wristband and they will match the qrcode on it with the scan of your passport they kept, to verify that you are not sharing it with someone else obviously. :) I would say it is pretty safe, at least i have never heard of anyone getting issues with this ;)
Would you say not counting the line up process that it was fast ? Like a quick scan , maybe 5 - 10 minutes process to get your wrist band ? or longer? You've been very helpful thank you so much for replying so fast :)
Galateah Y the scanning itself really is t long, not more than 5 minutes, basically just the time to scan your passport, look at your face quickly and give you your wristband. but yeah the queueing up can be a little long at times ;) you’re welcome! Enjoy your time there :)

No worries :) Yeah my picture also doesn't ressemble me much, but as long as your passport is not expired, i don't see why it would be much of an issue! :)
can anyone please give me some advice on the different types of accommodation?
Is it convenient to stay in an alternativa, eco, siesta camping etc? Do I have to buy a tent or if I go in one of these accommodation they already have it? SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH
I would personally advise against special campings, they usually put you only with 1 nationality (siesta for spanish, apero for french) and if you ask me that is in total opposition with Sziget's vibe since it's pretty much about love without boundaries. ;)
Free camping is perfectly fine in my opinion, the showers and utilities are quite good. :) I would also advise against renting some place in the city as the prices go up a LOT for hostels and airbnbs during that period. (even though it is very easy to go to and from the festival every day).
You will probably need to get a tent though if you use normal camping. I think it would be less expensive to buy one kit in budapest once you reach the city (if you arrive a bit before the festival). I have bought mine in Supersport here, a kit with 2 sleeping bags, 2 foam mattresses and 1 two persons tent for about 30euros which did the trick perfectly. If you cannot fly back with your tent, the festival organizes (at least they did one year, don't know if it's still accurate) to save the remaining tents to persons in need (homeless / refugees) so you would also be doing a good gesture! :)

to recharge your telephone or to use wifi did you have to pay?
Yes they make you pay to recharge your phone, but not much (the most annoying part is to queue up to give to them actually) That's where buying a powerbank is useful ;) For the wifi they have some wifi spots, but don't expect high speed internet. If you have a european sim card though, roaming is free since this summer, which makes you access internet for free everywhere on the island ;)
hi i have a question i was wondering if someone who has camped at sziget can answer i have a 3 day pass for sziget 19 can i arrive the evening before my ticket starts to set up camp or do i have to arrive the morning of the day my ticket starts
Hi :) If I am not wrong, you can only join on the day of validity starting at 6 am (or is it 8? maybe someone can confirm?). You can always contact them via their customer service email address on their official website to ask directly, they are usually rather fast to answer and help :) Enjoy your stay!

Yes there are many showers available in the default camping, and believe it or not, they even have hot water! (at least most of the time ahah)
Anyone know if the security is very strict on bringing alcohol in or is it possible to get a sneaky bottle past?
Weeeeell, I guess it's all about luck, but I have seen many bottles full of alcohol go straight to the trash even using the most sneaky of strategies. So you can risk it, but you might end up as heart broken as if someone stole your baby.. :'( (okay maybe not that bad but still :p )

Do you have any advice on how much spending money i would need for a week. Also is the food there expensive?
Hey! :) It is a bit difficult to say as it all depends on your personal consumption. I know that without counting at all how much i was spending, i spent for the entire week about 350euros in food and beverages. It is a lot of money, but for a 7 days festival in the end it's not that much. I don't really remember the exact prices for food, but i'm sure you can find a good pasta box for about 3 euros inside of the festival. I would advice though to go buy food at the Auchan supermarket, you can bring it inside without any issue, and you can buy drinks there too, although those cannot make it inside the festival, so you'll have to drink them outside! Here is the price list for the drinks from last year (keep in mind that the forint is way less strong this year so there will be inflation of the prices for sure) szigetfestival.com/en/content/_common/attachments/pricelist_jav.pdf.

Unfortunately I've never used any of those so i can't answer you... Sorry :) I've used always this "luggage drop" area, and never had any issue with it (i think the lockers might be too small for a big backpack)

Found this info on their website: [The smallest Szitizens are welcome to Sziget as well! Children under the age of 11 (date of birth after 15th August 2007) can enter the Island of Freedom free of charge, but they need to wear a child wristband. The adult accompany of the children must write their phone contact and the name of the child(ren)'s name on the wristband. You can apply for these child wristbands at the entrance.
Kids under the age of 14 can enter and stay at the venue only with an adult. Child wristbands are obligatory for them as well.]

My understanding is that at the age of 14 you do not require an adult with you, so if both you and your friend are 14 (or more) it should be all good! :) (again it is just my understanding, I advice you to use the contact link on the Sziget's website and to ask them the question directly, I am sure that they will answer you quickly!)

Well, it is a lot of people and yes everyone will be older than you (especially when it gets dark). It is a safe place in deed (never seen anyone fight or argue there), but you are young and there is always a risk of bad things happening in very crowded places. So if you decide to go promise me to remain careful, always stay together with your friend, and avoid going in the middle of the big crowds with the tall (and very-potentially drunk) people :)
I think if you go there for the main concerts which end around midnight you should be okay, just take care of yourself and your friend :) And more than anything if you go, enjoy your time to the fullest! :)

You'll have to figure out that one on your own, i don't want issues with the festival ;) though just so you know, if they figure it out they will throw it in the trash in front of you, so probably better to drink it outside and enter the festival tipsy :)
Last year i manged to sneak in a bottle of vodka every day ^^ but as you said: high risk high reward :D

I think we arrived around 6pm on day 1, there was still a lot of space. (Unfortunately had to work on that day) But the festival is open 2 days before and i think the 7 days passes allow you to enter on day 1 at 8am (you can probably check that on the sziget website). Might be that at the opening hour there will be a bunch of people queuing up because they will all think about being first as well ;) I will probably go around 11am this year, just to chill a little more!
thank you, my main concern was just space, but if there is plenty then that is fine! A video suggestion could possibly be a checklist and what to expect when you go to sziget. (id find this useful as this will be my first time)
I'll keep that in mind thank you! :) You will receive a passport on your arrival that can work as your checklist by the way, it has all the missions and info in it of what you can do and where you can find everything on the island :) (Also don't forget to download the sziget app, it is very useful to organise the concerts you don't want to miss!)

If you don't want a special campsite yes, just put your tent where you find a spot in the allowed ares

I could not find the official statement on that, but I would assume for it to be 18 as this is the legal drinking/buying age in hungary! :)
