Your lady bought pistons for a gift? Don't let her get away. We always want to know the cost. It's sharing the insanity. Mine is stock except SLP lid and exhaust, but I'm not a young man and probably overpaid for the car, so it's plenty. Enjoy watching you doing what I would have, haha. Keep it up, good video.
Yeah she sure did lol. We’re going on 5 years together! I’ll definitely throw together a price list and throw it in next video! I’m kind of scared to see the number tbh lol. Thanks a ton man i appreciate it!
Keep it to where you can still cruise around and still be dependable. To me that’s what is the most fun of owning a car! I think a turbo setup can still be reliable! Love it dude that 50 kick sounded mean!
Pretty close to my 2002 build. I went with Morel lifters, and did the trunnion upgrade to the rockers too. A local machine shop had a set of really nice CNC'd 243's that I paid $1,500 for, and while I probably could have skimped some on the heads being it's a daily driver, no regerts. It's still running the gel-coated Pacesetter headers and SLP Loudmouth 2 exhaust I had installed back in 2005, but I got some exhaust leaks in the exhaust and probably need to replace it at some point. Nice car man, enjoyed all the content so far and look forward to more.
Whats going on Walker! You videos are the best. Just saw a post about you on Reddit and wanted to come show some support. Keep the content coming. Firebird Nation stands with you
It depends on how often you want to go to the track in the car my t56 T/A has 1k rwhp and i still drive it on the street everywhere. U can make it reliable for both street and track unless your trying to really compete and drag all the time
That really puts it into perspective! Sounds like you got one mean car on your hands! I’m honestly looking to compete and put serious time into a full build and go the whole 9 yards with it. If you don’t mind message me on facebook i’m interested in your build and how you comfortably street that much hp. Facebook is Walker Rogier
My friend has a 2001 ws6 with a 383 stroker. He just put a ProCharger on it and dynoed at 672 HP at the wheels. It's not cheap, but it's fast. Keep this TA and buy a cheap fourth gen for a track car. It's hard to keep a track-only car reliable and nice. F-bodies forever!
Pro charger route definitely isn’t cheap! I’ll end up going single turbo more then likely. Will probably be taking everyone’s advice and go with a different car or 4th gen to start the journey
IMO...keep it N/A. Get some better heads ( ported 243/799 ) and get compression to 11:1. and I’d do a Fast 92/NW 92 set up... 102 isn’t necessary...you also need a Lid on it...the stock one is killing som3 airflow.
Keep it as a comfortable street cruiser. You'll be glad in the long run. Once you go down the rabbit hole of turning it into a racecar you'll never be able to enjoy it. Cages are a pain in the ass qnd racecar parts are expensive and so is GAS. From an old guy to a young guy, trust me, enjoy the car as it is. Put a 3.73 gear in it, that will give you that peppy feel.
Ps you are young enough that you will probably regret selling that car, consider keeping it and buying a cheap one to build for racing. The body on that car looks too nice to put on a track.
Oh i will 100% never sell this car. I was talking should i keep it the way it is to cruise and everything and get another dedicated track car or build this one for strictly the track. I’m definitely leaning towards keeping this the way it is and buying another car to do all that with
That's what I would do, these are special cars, I'm not sure exactly what it is about them, but when you don't have one life is a little less. Keep enjoying her.
awesome job brother!!!!! the car came out amazing!!!!!!!! thank you for taking me along for the ride. I've been with you for almost the whole build. I would keep the T/A and beef up a 4gen Camaro. They're not as rare as a T/A and are easier to come by. Plus you would already have a partial blueprint. What was your final hp and tq again??
Thanks a ton! You have definitely been here since the start i greatly appreciate all the comments and watching the videos! I definitely think i’m going to keep it the way it is bedsides add 410 gears and a tire. Makes high 300 whp
FYI. I finally got my motor finished. I have done everything you've done except, I did a comp cam 231/239 617/624 113 lsa Matching set of AFR heads. I went with shorty bbk ceramic coated heads and michican Motorsports trunnion upgrade kit. (sleeve style). I fell short at the dyno though. I ran out of injector. 463hp crank. 386rwhp. I am trying to decide, upgrade the fuel system or long tube hedders and a k member to make it fit. did you run out injector??
@@walkerhaules yeah those gears are really going to wake it up!!! I am going to keep my factory gears, so I can hit highway. my next car I will do all of that to it. that'll probably be about another 6yrs or so
I would put the a/c and drive it like that for 5 yrs. Remember if you have to add an power adder, you didn't build it right. N/a baby! Ls3 or bigger. My Ls3 in my trans am is very satisfying. Hopefully in 5 yrs i will have LS7 money! Keep it going!!
Bought a 5.3 to build and a VS racing turbo kit for the car. That video should be out soon! But i definitely bet the LS3 is very fun but that can get expensive as well! Thanks for watching!
Have fun with it, enjoy the ride. You can only go but so fast on the road. I have the same exact car, red 02 WS6. Have done everything to it except a cam and torque converter. She still rippe. Thanks for sharing, captain. What are your thoughts on a 2012 cadillac cts-v coupe?
Thanks for the comment! Yeah i definitely like to have fun on the street and strip on the weekends! I already got a pretty sweet “street car” with this TA so might as well do a full drag build on something else and have both. Absolutely love ctsv’s especially that year, extra points if it’s a wagon!
@walkerhaules I picked up a set of cadillic ats *j55* brembo calipers ad base model C7 corvetter rotors and 1/4" wheel spacers and longer lug nuts. There's a easy youtube write up here
What size rims are on your trans am ? Are they 18s or 19s in the rear bc i heard 19s u have to run spacers if they are 18s in the rear will i yave to rin a spacer on the rear on mine mine are 18s in the rear corvette rims off of a c6 im wanting to put 18s in rear do u think ill need a spacer for them being 18s or will they run without spacer in rear ?

...when your girlfriend buys you pistons for your hotrod for Christmas.. That's a keeper. :)
She definitely is! Hard to find a good one these days!
Keep it to where you can still cruise around and still be dependable. To me that’s what is the most fun of owning a car! I think a turbo setup can still be reliable! Love it dude that 50 kick sounded mean!
That is very true. Keep it turned down to like 600-700hp and still be drivable. Thanks my guy i love ya!
Imo, keep that car the way it is. Get another 4th gen that's not isn't in that good of shape for a track car
That’s what i’m planning to do. I have the chance to buy a 72 C10 but if that falls through then 4th gen is a good alternative

You’re the best! Just saw the post and was blown away from the response! I stand with every single one of you guys
Not a bad looking car definitely needs some 5% window tint with a windshield brow, surprised it still has the stock air box lid and not an slp lid
Thanks man!
Beautiful car 🔥
Thanks a ton! Greatly appreciated!
Better set of heads for sure and reinstall the AC,
Yeah definitely need to do both of those!
When you do the heads you may look at Howards Cams variable duration lifters.

ive got a fully stock 4th gen and have the same problem from 3rd to 4th

Don’t build another 4th gen. Build this one. Trust me

I think keeping it naturally aspirated is the way to go.
That’s the way i’m leaning too.

Do the factory brembo upgrade(4 or 6 pistons).
Leave it alone have fun with it as is.
Will definitely need the brake upgrade i kind of bought a LM7 5.3 and a big single kit…..
I'm building a 98 SS going with ls6 heads and intake and btr red hot cam top end kit. Want it reliable

My opion id make this one fast keep it as a fun cruiser or daily driver but id buy me another one for a track car
Loved it but when I saw that 2003 Mustang Cobra Terminator whooping that Trans Am ass, I'm not anymore lol!
You’re also taking about a Naturally aspirated car vs a boosted car. I would hope the boosted car would win lol.

I’m running a 1.25 spacer in the rear they are a 19 inch wheel! You should be fine with a 18
lets be real here, ALL THE BOOST!
5.7 won’t handle it :/
Are the headers 1 7/8 or 1 3/4? considering the same headers and y-pipe to my magnaflow.
1 7/8 then it comes into the 3 inch exhaust
did you have fitment issues on the k-member or anywere else?
@navybluethunder a little on one side i had to grind the k member a tad but not much
Where in indiana you from?
Southern Indiana 15 minutes from Newburgh/Evansville
You east or west? I thought maybe by Reo.
Yeah i live in Hatfield close to Reo!
I used to live in Hatfield. Right by the Firestation. 8302 w old sr 66.
@nac4life56 I live right down the road lol
This car is for sale l like is very nice .
Thank you! I’d be happy to sell it to you
