Arijit is more versatile. Papon has some problem with proper pronunciation of words, be it in Bangla or Hindi. His Assmaese accent comes in when rendering songs. He should work on it. Otherwise his natural voice without being auto tuned is superior to Arijit. And surely, he is a great singing artiste cum stage performer.

Papon is the Rahul dravid of singing industry. Never got enough recognition which he deserves
Papon is the best for these lyrics. I don't think anything else would have made this song awesome to an extent it is sounding now. He did not break the flow. Even on high nodes, the gradual upgrade was accomplished in an awesome way..... All respect and appreciations to this guy and his team.

It was a monsoon of 2015, I was traveling from Kolkata to Ahmedabad for my IELTS exam... During a rainy midnight in that train compartment, listening to Papon's jukebox, this song showed up out of the blue... Since then, it's been one of the permanent ones on my playlists.... Such a powerful and soulful track with such a simple composition....

I had requested this song from Papon at a corporate event and of all the requests he picked up mine and even though he did not sing it fully, he did strum a few and sand a couple of lines and mentioned that it was on a special request from me. With all due respect, you feel so because our Coke Studio never really had the backing from those who produced it. India has many diverse musical traditions like Carnatic apart from what you are familiar with. There are also a myriad of folk songs and tunes that could have been harnessed if Coke Studio India functioned like your version. There is a rich collection of Indian classical work on TH-cam.
Many in India can't find a good platform. Because the industry can't accommodate all of them.
We have equal talent as you were also a part of Hindustan.
What is the definition of edge? If you talk about genres, India has so much that even Indians can't listen to them all in life time.
If you mean good music, then you have to go and learn basics, coz good music is subjective.
And if you think soofi and Punjabi is the real music, then you gotta listen to the most diverse music in the world which belongs to India. 28 official different languages, more than 1000 dilects, and to your surprise we have songs in all the languages and for all the occasions to prove that right, all Pakistani play our songs in their events. 😂😂😂😂
