Great explanation of ornaments. Only thing confusing is last explanation of acciatura with minim example. Should the crushed notes not be semiquavers not demisemiquavers.

Thanks. The definition of the word Acciaccatura in Italian (most Italians will probably correct me 🤣) means "To Crush" or "A Crushing Sound". When played, it's performed almost, if not, simultaneously with the principal note (dependent on the instrument) and the Acciaccatura released leaving the principal note retaining. Therefore when writing one down using notation, you have to try and show this by using the shortest value possible for the acciaccatura. I used a demisemiquaver, however I could have still used a Hemi but the first option was a bit more user friendly avoiding using a triple- dotted to keep the rhythm groupings correct. Hope this helps. Take care.😁

Thank you.😁 I will post again, just need to think about which topic next. I was thinking about basic harmony or going to earlier foundation Rudiments that some starters find difficulty with. I'm always open to suggestion.

Hi I meant mordent explanation above sorry

Ha..wrote out the reply to the above and then saw this... Anyhooo.. The Mordent or Mordere (Italian for Bite) is 2 very quick notes followed by the principal. Or otherwise explained as rapid alternation of the principal note and note above (upper mordent). Therefore when notating, you must show that the first two notes share the smallest proportion of the value of the principal note as feasibly possible.Hope this helps more than the first answer 🤣

You're very welcome. It will be to start. Make sure, as I mentioned at the start, that you are really happy with your understanding of Time Signatures and especially Rhythm Groupings. If not, just watch the lesson on such on this channel. Also the video is intended to be watched several times and used as a revision resource. Good luck >:0)
