Eclipse CD8454 Testing 8V output!!!

- I picked up a MINTY Eclipse CD8454 for respectable price which included the cd code key, 3 trim rings, 1 cage, and manual. This thing is an Audiophiles dream!! I started with the CD5442 w/DSP 2301 module, than found a CD8443, now this beastly cd player. If you found this video, you need to get one of these players.
Outstanding, I'm currently doing an ALL made in the USA OldSchool build with the super rare Diamond d7 amps and d9 15s + the 11 speaker front stage which are diamond also in my old Cadillac... The 8v Eclipse 8445 will be running it all.
In my old Honda Element I had this deck with a couple Eclipse PA series amps, JL Stealthbox and Focal components.. what an amazing deck that was.. another one I liked was the Sony CDX-C90.

Me, too!!!!!! I've had a 55040, CD8051, CD8053, and a CD8454. Still have the CD8454. I loved them all. Nothing like an 8V deck!
I have one of these in storage I bought New Years ago when it first came out on the market. I think I should install it. Used very little at the time. Because I bought an old
school used Nakamichi 45 series Japanese made headunit. I wish I kept that one.
I tried it out with an old school MTX2160 and the 2160 did not like 3.3V with was volume 70 or 72 of 80. As you can see she climbs after 70 step wise. The amp was rated with 300w at 12.5V "with 1VRMS" input. So make sure your amp can handle the high Voltage input. 60 on the Eclipse is about 1 or 1.2V. Thanks for watching!!!!

I used the JLAudio Slash series 300 watt (75 watts per channel) 4 channel amp. Those amps can handle anything.
@@davidfromamerica1871 I tried buying 2 slash amps on ebay for an install. The 500/1 had a bad channel, the 4 channel amp had the allen keys striped on the speaker leads. I read these amps are built well and super clean but can be damaged if abused. They're heavy too! I have an xtsnt 604x and Boston Acoustics GT 42 and 24. All 3 sound great but the design....they are so long!

Yep it is i have a eclipse cd8455 and the cd8053 with the bla to make is 16 volts Eclipse is the best
The BLA does not make it 16V. It is 16v on it's own. By that I mean the positive RCA outputs give you an 8v signal...and the negative RCA outputs give you an 8v inversion of the "positive" signal. Together that is 16v of output. Any noise present is the same on both + and - lines. Commonalities are rejected. The BLA (Balanced Line Adapter) simply does this rejection for you and converts the output to UN-Balanced (10 volt) signal that can be used by your typical amplifier.
If you have an amplifier that accepts Balanced Inputs (Zapco, Orion) you can run signal directly into these amplifiers WITHOUT the BLA at the equivalent of 16v of signal. I highly recommend it.
Just ran across ur message I also have a couple 8455 decks they rock. I just wish there was more info or any help fine tuning these lol they are a tad bit complicated to say the least. Also I don't recall having a bla with these decks like u mentioned. Was that a separate add on?

@@Connecticut123 I dont think the radio has a reset on it. My 8454 comes with the code and cd. good luck finding a way to unlock yours.
