Think about it this way. When the rest of the world i worried about short supply these people will figure out how to make it out of scrap to meet demand. They might be messy there tools might be scary but they get the job done.
They are only using techniques that were used in the first world decades ago, we basically taught them how to do it and exported them our old machinery .

That reminds me of when I worked for Atlas Copco Wagner Mining Plant in Portland, Oregon of their ST-2D rear oscillating axle assembly, one of the components that bolted the assembly to the frame looked just like that . But ours was made out of machined and welded T-10 high carbon steel instead of cast iron, but pretty much the same in design and functionality 👍👍👍

Material,, scrap steel with old drill swarth,,hmmm not a specific grade of steel or iron. Sandcast but in some very basic patterns. By the look of it some was poured hotter than the other end.. Maching is chattering and I doubt very square and the bolt holes seem to be where the sand put them. Now lets put them on a totally overloaded truck,,, what could go wrong!

I thought the fella who was knocking the moulding sand from the casting will lose a day's wages, as he stuffed up the casting big time. I could find other crappy workmanship but if the boss is happy, who am I to spoil his idea it's quality work.

The way that was machining it wasn't cast iron.

Just toss any ol' metal in the furnace. The alloy doesn't matter.
