When we were listening in his concert the crowd was dead silent, due to the whole atmosphere and insane feeling. Now at the end, when whole concert was finished you should hear what standing ovations were! This mans music simply takes you far far away!
This is an absolute masterpiece. I always return to this one every once in a while, and it never fails to give me goosebumps. Incredible talent and feeling. It's sublime, superb, exceptional, just unbelievable almost. I love it to bits. So incredibly happy this is still online, I hope a lot of people come across this one in the future. Worth the listen and then some
This song has riffs that sound like they're from American 70's shows. I forgot to mention that I love looking this song up sometimes. This guy is a 3-strings master.
This dude is shredding the fuck out of that balalaika, making O-faces and everyone in the room is like "Ahh yes, quite, how elegant." Hilarious and rockin.
Almost everyone from USA be like "the crowd is boring, stupid, blah, blah" Please understand that enjoying this music and letting others feel the awesome, warm sensation it causes is part of the experience, besides the respect they're showing to the artist by behaving like that. Just an incredible masterpiece deserves it.
This is badass! He gets so many different sounds out of it. Funk, blues, metal, country and even electronic. Some serious shredding and it would be hard to stay seated and not get the lighter out listening to him :P
I've watched this clip many times and I think that the most impressive part is the sheer range of sounds that he manages to get out of his instrument. Stunning playing.
I have watched this probably 50 times and showed it to as many people as I could. The reaction is always the same. WOW! I always feel like the guy kneading his forehead in the audience with the small smile. So good I can hardly believe it!
I love this, been watching it so many times since i first found it.... I'd never heard of the instrument before and thanks to a Tolstoi's book where it was mentioned I decided to find out. Now here I am. Enjoying the music from the hands and mind of a virtuoso . Thanks for the vid. from Chile
This man is god of this instrument , i can't stop watching his videos , i watch this probably for 1000 times ..... i have 19 years and i play guitar , Aleksei Arkhipovsky is my idol ....what he can do with only 3 strings some musicians can't do on 6, 12 ..100 strings . Keep on music Aleksei Arkhipovsky we love you !!!!
Не мог подумать, что балалайка может так звучать - утончённо, вариативно, и как-то прогово. Безусловно, Мастер, её ожививший, достоен наивысшей похвалы.
Que show deu esse Aleksei Arkhipovsky. O som da balalaika é muito agradável. Deu para sentir o deleite do público ouvinte. O grand finale foi surpreendente.
These people are enjoying the music. They don't yell HELL YEAH!! like in america every five seconds because they don't want to interrupt his playing and ruin the music. Actually as I see it, it's the best compliment for the artist when everyone is focused on the music , the notes , the complex sounds. I'm Russian and thats how I see it, that's another difference in our cultures. P.S. You can see that the public is middle aged, and not so energetic as probably i would been. Cheers.
0:31 - Guy sleeping in audience 0:45 - Not impressed 1:35 - Some guy gets up and leaves 1:56 - Sleeping guy from before is in a trance 2:20 - Chick with headphones wakes up and is like SHIIITT 3:00 - Facepalm (he has had enough)
Actually - no. The fact is that Tolkien, when he wrote his book, the prototype of the hobbits was his compatriots - the British. But one of the prototype of the collective image of the orcs served us - the Russians. The thing is that the negative image of Russians in the UK has been created for many centuries. So you listened, rather an orc game. But definitely not a hobbit. Here we are "evil orcs"))) Вот вам и Бильбо Бэггинс...
The greatest thing about this vid is how they show random people basking in the glory of the music.. In a respectful way. Compare this to say audiences in American idol. The difference is extreme
When Star Wars came out, and it came out in japann everyone left the theatre without a sound. George Lucas thought nobody liked it until someone told him that they are silent out of respect. someplaces are very unlike the USA.
JohnBindon I'm an experienced musician. I've played in many different places, from classical music to folk music, and I've never seen such a disinterested public like this. Is it because they are russians? I don't know, but here, in Spain, it's all different. Thank you for your answer!
+Danielviomusic If I'm listening to music I'm likely to be attentive and unexpressive, closing eyes or not necessarily looking at the performers... making faces is not a synonym for enjoyment
As ridiculously talented as this guy is, I can't help but imagine how conversations about his chosen career must go with strangers. "So, what do you do?" "Oh, I'm a professional musician." "Oh, really? What do you play?" "The balalaika." "The bala... what, excuse me?" "The balalaika." "..." "It's a Russian stringed instrument." "Ohhh-kay..." "...It's a real instrument." "I'm sure it is."
+Araxie Rose His responses after... "I'm sure it is" "Let me show you, the way of the Balalaika" *plays this song* *End of song* *Persons Head EXPLODES* ".....I knew you wouldn't understand"
This guy is way beyond incredible, why does his audience sit straight-faced as they listen to one of the biggest cultural sensation their country has produced? More power to Alex.
Sam S.I. One time I looked at myself in the mirror when I was really excited and I didn't look anything like those excited hollywood actors. I looked like I was a little bit interested and nothing more. But, then again, that might be a cultural thing, I am from Russia
I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet... But your kids are gonna love it.
thingwhatever 😂👍
And it did.
When we were listening in his concert the crowd was dead silent, due to the whole atmosphere and insane feeling. Now at the end, when whole concert was finished you should hear what standing ovations were! This mans music simply takes you far far away!

the only downside is that the spectators reaction is regulated by the Russian goverment or maybe Soviet

In Soviet Russia, the audience stuns you.

I remember listening to this when I was a child, I was and I still am literally amazed

No phones, no noise, just people mesmerized by this beautiful masterpiece. Superb!
Два дня сидела какая-то заноза в сердце, в уме... Послушала это волшебство и со слезами всё растаяло.
Пусть хранят тебя все Силы Света, Алексей!.
Bravo Aleksei! You are one of so many great people able to take us to heaven with your music.
I love this, been watching it so many times since i first found it.... I'd never heard of the instrument before and thanks to a Tolstoi's book where it was mentioned I decided to find out. Now here I am. Enjoying the music from the hands and mind of a virtuoso .

All the audience are like, "we will never be this good at anything..."
I always wanted to study balalaika but when I hear it played by this master, I think I'll forget about playing and just listen. Extraordinary!
The combination of this pure awesomeness, his face, and the pans to the audience makes this the best thing ever.
When I picture a musician on Olympus playing for the gods, this man is who I see.

This is a masterpiece.
"I guess you guys arent ready for that yet, but your kids are going to love it!"
Freaking legendary!
Just because they want to actually hear the music instead of shouting and screaming? That's not shitty, but respectful.
1:59 that guy is totally going on a journey. Amazing performance, someone I'll definitely have to see at a live performance.
1:09 ...AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!
+Troy Brostrom Hey...it took real energy for that woman to raise her eyebrows! ;-)

Audience is either stoned as fuck, hypnotized by this wonderfull pice of art or just plain deaf. :)
Did you notice that one guy trying to leave the room right in the middle of it lol
Lazaro Osle He probably needed to use the restroom.:)))) It happens sometime and it can't wait, no matter how beautiful the music is.
Oh god that was so cool I didnt want it to end. Thank goodness it was a long song, this guy can really rock! What a beautiful instrument.
OMG, I almost fainted. I have Never heard a balalaika rocked like that! Bravo, Alexei!
And thank you for posting this Nekedemus.

Check the guy at 2:58 :p

This is me trying to impress my parents on buying a new guitar.
Just watched this for the thousandth time. Skin still crawling.
Que show deu esse Aleksei Arkhipovsky. O som da balalaika é muito agradável. Deu para sentir o deleite do público ouvinte. O grand finale foi surpreendente.

Haha. Totally.
I can`t stop coming by here, this dude is a legend.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to date.
Wonderful and quite inspiring for us guitar types. A great perfomer and a beautiful instrument.
Does anybody knows who is he?
Wow is all I can say. Thanks for sharing!
Every time this piece simply brings me to tears.
These people are enjoying the music. They don't yell HELL YEAH!! like in america every five seconds because they don't want to interrupt his playing and ruin the music. 0:31 - Guy sleeping in audience
0:45 - Not impressed
1:35 - Some guy gets up and leaves
1:56 - Sleeping guy from before is in a trance
2:20 - Chick with headphones wakes up and is like SHIIITT
3:00 - Facepalm (he has had enough)
Ong! LOL! ROFL
3:51 People happy it's the end
this comment should be the beginning of a trend. I will try and do the same one day.
GTDeathRow I'd say the 3 minute guy is more 'mind blown'. He was too happy for face palm.
+Peter K. I can't be more agree with you.
Audience there to listen, not to fucking express themselves.
Any 2016 peeps here with me?
beyond brilliant!! No words!
WHAT A GOOD AUDIENCE THIS SHIT GIVES ME CHILLS
Bilbo Baggins

no no, Bilbo begins.
WONDERFUL !!!
The greatest thing about this vid is how they show random people basking in the glory of the music.. In a respectful way. Compare this to say audiences in American idol. The difference is extreme
I love how the dude is so happy and moving around while playing. Shame the audience ain't the same.
When Star Wars came out, and it came out in japann everyone left the theatre without a sound. George Lucas thought nobody liked it until someone told him that they are silent out of respect. someplaces are very unlike the USA.
They do that for mma fights too
Incredible! You can see he is really living the music as he plays it!
Excellent! Thank you Fazy Luckers for steering me here!
What an amazing video!
2:00 This guy knows
0:45 look at their faces. They seem to be in a funeral.
Danielviomusic I would say - they appear respectful, polite & reserved...they have manners.
JohnBindon I'm an experienced musician. I've played in many different places, from classical music to folk music, and I've never seen such a disinterested public like this. Is it because they are russians? I don't know, but here, in Spain, it's all different. Thank you for your answer!
Danielviomusic I'm gonna go with they're Russians.
+Danielviomusic The chick at 1:09 wanted to jump his bones. Just sayin'
+Danielviomusic If I'm listening to music I'm likely to be attentive and unexpressive, closing eyes or not necessarily looking at the performers... making faces is not a synonym for enjoyment
Nice to see the interested people in he audience actually feeling the music. Great!
1:58 hes really enjoying the music!!!
Балалайка? Не, не слышал.
Такого ещё никогда не слышал :)
Couldn't agree more. Some people actually want to listen. "Hype" is so overrated.
vodka+balalaika= la défonce totale! ce type est un génie avec seulement 3 cordes il fait sonner tout un orchestre...énorme!!!
At 2:57 is the best sound ever played out of an instrument.
But can he play Smoke on the Water?
As ridiculously talented as this guy is, I can't help but imagine how conversations about his chosen career must go with strangers.
"So, what do you do?"
"Oh, I'm a professional musician."
"Oh, really? What do you play?"
"The balalaika."
"The bala... what, excuse me?"
"The balalaika."
"..."
"It's a Russian stringed instrument."
"Ohhh-kay..."
"...It's a real instrument."
"I'm sure it is."
Hear that? That's the sound of the joke soaring right over your head.
+Araxie Rose His responses after... "I'm sure it is"
"Let me show you, the way of the Balalaika"
*plays this song*
*End of song*
*Persons Head EXPLODES*
".....I knew you wouldn't understand"
it was a shit joke
in 45 minutes I would go to his concert!wow!but...I can't say that I am excited after I watched this video...
can't.. stop.. listening
how the fuck do you do this with only 3 strings??
Nobody knows, it's magic!
reminds me of stonehenge - spinal tap
I can't stop listening to this!!!
I really love he added russian folklor(?) rhytms in that music and mixed them with the modern ones. Sounds very impressive!!
Hahah, the guy at 2:59 trying hard not to laugh at the musician's shred face.
+Fuck You Google Plus He does not laugh. He smiles.
This guy is way beyond incredible, why does his audience sit straight-faced as they listen to one of the biggest cultural sensation their country has produced? More power to Alex.
I've never seen an improviso like this performed by a balalaika player, even though a russian one. It's quite unusual...! Bravo! Molodets!
Found this ONCE on 4chan and couldn't find the source, find it a year later trying to look up a vocaloid song. God I love this
its like they took a footage of people listening to a boring political talk and then put it together with that awesome balalaika video.
Sam S.I. What do you expect them to do, dance? I think his playing deserves silence and concentration.
my point is that they don't look like they're in awe.
Sam S.I. One time I looked at myself in the mirror when I was really excited and I didn't look anything like those excited hollywood actors. I looked like I was a little bit interested and nothing more. But, then again, that might be a cultural thing, I am from Russia
i see, i can understand that. In my case, i would have gotten up and started headbanging the heck out of this.
Sam S.I. haha
хуясе...
Самый четкий комментарий!
Awesome, just awesome. My first time hearing a balalaika, definitely will not be my last.
3:29 says it all! lol
on a serious note, this was amazing!
in case anyone is wondering, Darude - Sandstorm
thx based doge, much Love and Kappa
твоя мамка when and where
Very nice! At least the audience has enough respect to not holler out "WOOOO" while he was playing like these dipshits here in the USA do!
Phayzyre105 Now I feel embarrassed that I had the urge to holler 'Woo' in the middle of this... ^//^
It's suitable in certain bluegrass performances,
I spooted a bit of bach around 0:34, followed shortly by tubulr bells, then Mario, then some 80s riffs, into some funk. I love this man.
this is the greatest shit ive ever seen. gets a wah sound, and a delay sound at the beginning, without using any pedals.
praise be to the sorcerer or Dorito guitars!
